Hello. I am seeking humble advice or encouraging words of wisdom from cam models that have ever felt like giving up camming. Personally, I am new to the cam girl profession but it can feel discouraging when you are doing amazingly one night and then the next, not so good. When times get slow or you are not able to reach your goals, it can be frustrating. Model tips, tricks and Wiki aside, how have you overcome and pushed through the disheartening feeling?

Thank you!

I felt like giving up two weeks into camming, with a camscore of 233 I thought it was impossible to progress, especially since I'm a non nude... BUT! I didn't give up and realized it takes time to meet members who I connect with and it got better slowly but surely!
There will always be good days and bad days, I take each day as it comes and if I have a bad day it just motivates me to do better.
I also make sure to save money and manage my finances so that if I have a slow period on cam I don't panic!
And make sure to take time out for yourself each day to recharge. X

I am not a model
Your profile is a mess, I don't know that, that fixes anything, but it's your name and a cam rating.

She was asking models. And you weren't even answering her question.

@Misty007 Pushing through the disheartening feeling...that's a hard one. I'm not really sure any of us have that figured out. If you do, please pm me hah! We are all human. I think a lot of faking it until you make it works most of the time. There will always be ups and downs. Plan for them like Bandett said. And try to get a good support network going both in cam friends and irl. Some days you need to log off and recharge with a friend that is not a part of cam world or do a hobby that is totally unrelated. (I brew beer and knit sometimes, all cam girls take baths lol.) Some days you need to vent or reinvent with cam girlfriends. It's all good for a healthier work outlook. Welcome to cam!

She may have wrote that but this isn't a situation unique to models either. Anyone that works in a customer focused job can have this same experience. A Waiter/Waitress in a empty restaurant or the same people waiting on customers that they know aren't going to tip when they are done. It always lets you down when you know you're ready to work and it feels like either people aren't giving you a chance or not appreciating what you're doing for them.

As far as the OP question this is why people keep things like pictures or personal items at their desk or nearby at work. They offer a distraction or a way to focus and remind you why you're working in the first place. A quick look at the family picture can be a good remind why you are putting up with a shitty day. Remember nobody WANTS to work, you HAVE TO work, just keep a reminder why.

Now where your situation as a model is unique, unlike a waiter/waitress at an empty restaurant, YOU ARE THE BOSS. They aren't able to change the menu to try to get more customers but YOU have that power. This is the value of being in complete control. This is where Swagger's comment come into play. You have the power to try new things or if bored, just completely rewrite your menu and try something different. I've had models I've worked with for years one day switch for more vanilla services to mistresses just to try something new. This is a job of entertainment and fantasy it's one of the few jobs you can be someone else overnight and nobody will be upset with you. There's no uniform you wear as a cam model.

As far as room consistency don't focus on the uncontrollable, prepare for it. All business owners know they will have less business on a rainy day.

Misty007, this is long overdue, at least in my mind. I owe you a deep apology. Regardless of disposition, my response to you was a result of my frustration with other models at that time. This is not an excuse. I apologize for curt and completely off topic answer to your question.

I take a week off, like I'm doing now for my birthday weekend. I also have a part-time job on the side to keep the money stress out of it and try to enjoy it above all else! That's what will keep you wanting to go back on and make them tokens :)

I've been struggling with this lately. I'm about 5 months into camming, and I had some relative success in my 2nd and 3rd month but lately things have been pretty slow. My camscore slipped to half of what it was, I find myself logging on and sitting in an almost empty room more often than not. I've always had a difficult time hiding my feelings, even back when I worked as a barista. But I know that members are more likely to want to stay in an upbeat, happy room than one with a model who looks anxious/sad, so I'm trying to break that cycle.

Could definitely use some encouragement right now, especially from models who struggled at one time but are more confident in their success now. I would love some happy endings to help me shake all of the negative self-talk that tells me I'm not ever gonna be successful with this and I should just stop trying :depressed::nailbiting:

Maybe lower your standards of success on mfc for a while? It takes time. There are models on there for have been around literally since it's beginning, and they aren't giving up their spot at the top anytime soon.

From what I gauge, there are about 12000 active models on mfc, with an average camscore of 1000. If you can keep yourself above #6000, keep your camscore about 1000, and put some upbeat music on, say a verbal hi and pm a goodbye to every member that comes into your room, I think you're good for a while :)

Also, I quit 4 months in cause I had stressed myself out trying so hard to get good at it and be successful right away, took a 6 month break working a different job, and am now back part-time enjoying it and not stressing out, and having way more success than I did before, when I was all stressed, pushy, and desperate.

Ps. Rated you 5 and admired, nice profile ^_^

One problem + you're not supposed to accept anything other than tokens for Skype shows, Mfc rules

Camming isn't for most girls. Even many girls that make a living camming, struggle on MFC. 75% of girls that try MFC quit within three months. The numbers are really stacked against you of the 25,000 models on MFC about 1/2 are active. The top 20 make amazing money, top 100 make excellent money, top 250 make very good money, and 250-1,000 make decent money. Beyond Top 1,000 I think it would be a struggle to pay rent and bills in most place in the US/Canada or Western Europe. Although probably fine in many lower cost countries. So treating it as part time job a way of making some extra spending money but having a vanilla job to pay the bills would make sense and way less stressful.
Camscore is a very Darwinning device. Virtually all the programs on MFC are designed to reward the girls with top camscore at the expensive of the rest. A high and rising camscore makes everything easier, a low and/or falling one makes everything harder and puts you in a hole. Getting out of the hole is hard, and requires hard work, some skill, and more luck than you might guess. A random guy or two comes by your room really like you and start tipping you a ton. While there are definitely success stories and you can find them on the forum. Keep in mind there are way more girls who post I'm struggling and we never hear from them again, then go from sub 1,000 camscore to consistent top 100 model
Before giving up on camming, I definitely think it is worth trying one of the other sites like chaturbate, or streammate. Some girls prefer the other sites, and many models have found that the money is more consistent on SM.
For me, if try something for 3 months and still struggle, unless it is something I really want to do, I generally move on, but that's just me.

Finally, I know this easier said than done. But try and keep in mind this is just a job. Just because you aren't great camming doesn't make you a failure anymore than not being able to become a pop star, rocket scientist, or top fashion designer makes you a failure.

I agree with almost all, but I've heard it takes 2 years to really learn a new job inside and out. I'd say if treating it as a part-time thing for fun on the side gets you nowhere within two years, well...

When I'm having a slow night on cam I just put on my favorite jams, some super sexy lingerie and dance.

While I'm dancing I always put out positive thoughts. "At least I'm enjoying myself" or "the right member will find me tonight." "I'm going to make my goals this week" "damn my ass looks good!" I think of it as I'm getting my work out. So even if I didn't make a few thousand tokens I'm still getting my body in shape. I am always sore after camming. But the good kind of sore.

I try not to value myself or my abilities as a model on how many tips I made because sometimes the right people just don't find you in the hundred of girls online. When I first started I remember logging off many times and crying because it was hard to put myself out there like that and get rejected. But we can't take it personally.

I do work full time else where so that does take of a bit off the financial stress. But at the same time it makes it difficult to devote all the time and energy needed to be a successful model.
But either way, just keep your head up and just have fun!

I wrote a few articles on here awhile back to help on those tough days.

Myfreecams is a rollercoaster. You cannot predict what days or months you'll get tipped lots, or what days or months or even whole seasons or years that you'll barely make anything. The only thing you can do is change your perspective. Decide if camming on MFC is worth it to you on the days that you don't get tipped. What would make you happy enough to do on cam that you'd do it for free? Happy enough to get you through the hard days?

Thanks so much for your reply! Made me feel a little better :h:
Yeah I wasn't sure how strictly that rule was enforced, kinda like the no smoking on cam thing. But thanks for the heads up :nailbiting:

I don't know how much any of the rules are enforced tbh. I do know I would be right pissed if I went on one day and had a fine takin out of my earnings for breaking one of the rules that so many models do (sleeping on cam for example) so I choose follow them as much as humanely possible.

Sleeping on cam, depends on if someone reports you while you're on cam. I've seen mfc shut down cams of sleeping ladies. Not sure if they got a warning or not. I imagine if someone takes a screen shot and mfc doesn't look at it until after the lady shuts down her cam on her own, then they won't do much. Because it's fairly easy to take a single screen shot of someone with their eyes closed and claim they were sleeping. So they probably just do something if they can confirm it.

Other rules that are definitely enforced. Babies on cam. Guys on cam. Bestiality of any kind with any animal. Peeing and or defecating. Cutting yourself/real blood. Vomiting.

I've seen cams shut down instantly and accounts deleted for all of those things being done on cam. The peeing they were a little lax about at one point. There was a lady that use to do it in public parking lots. But they caught up with her eventually too. I remember she initially got a warning and stopped doing it for several months. One day she got tipped big to do it again. So she started doing it. Lasted a few more days before her entire account was gone. Another model who had been on for 6 months got tipped to poo on a pie tin. Did so in public chat. Within 3 minutes her stream went blank and her profile was never to return.

So yeah, some rules they do enforce. And it's not just warnings. Most of those things I mentioned usually result in deletion on the first offense.

Almost every lesser offence you'll get a warning first I think. So if you do it again, well...you know why you deserve it that point. Lactation is one I've seen just warnings given. They don't want that on cam, but I think they understand sometimes leaking isn't really in your control. I've seen 3 or 4 models mention getting a warning for it, but they were still camming after.

Yeah they gave me a warning one of my first few days on cam for having a cute anime picture as my avatar. Never read anywhere that I wasn't supposed to do that? But it's just like, why take the chance, on any of it. Who knows whether it's going to be a warning and/or fine and/or account closure. :/

I'm STILL waiting for that member who would tip me a ton just because he likes me lol. Maybe it rather happens to the skinny and young models and not to older and curvier , I dunno. but yeah , MFC is about luck mostly.
