Watched Star Trek First Contact last night, I'm amazed how good the cgi still looks in that film, it's better than a lot of stuff I see now and that movie is almost 20 years old now.

Dark Matter I thought was pretty good and worth a watch as long as you dont mind the fact it never gets a conclusion because it got cancelled. Not so much with the wacky aliens but more like futuristic corporate war, kind of in the same vain as firefly or the expanse. The stargate series is pretty good too, personally I think the movie is better than the series but it's all pretty good. Into the bad lands was pretty good too but thats more futuristic / non space sci fi ( I kind of get mad max vibes from it).

Thanks for the recs! I keep seeing mention of Dark Matter, so I'll certainly check it out. And thanks for reminding me about Into the Badlands. I remember watching that years ago.

There are two shows called Dark Matter. The recent one on Apple TV+ is about alternative realities. The one that was cancelled umpteen years ago was set in space. I'm still a bit pissed that got cancelled.

An old show that recently came back to mind recently was Falling Skies. That was a very good series (IMO); Noah Wyle can do no wrong in my eyes.

I watched a couple episodes of Tokyo Ghoul. I don't watch a lot of anime but they're doing a collab with my favorite video game (Dead by Daylight) and wanted to find out what it's about. It's pretty good.

I'm watching Married at First Sight season 11. It's interesting. Only one couple makes it, so I'm watching to learn what they have and do, that is different from everyone else. I also like to see where other people made mistakes or kinda went wrong.

It's kind of weird to me that some couples got matched who don't seem to be on the same page abut kids (ie, whether to have them or not). To me, that's kind of a big deal, like politics. So... interesting...

I FINALLY watched The Godfather 1 & 2 this past week. Debating on if I should bother with 3, since I know it’s widely considered to be not even close to as good as the first two. I also don’t know if I would watch the original or Coda.

Binge watching old episodes of Law and Order Organized Crime, because that show is so freakin’ good!

Every once in a while, I go with a couple of friends to stay at a nice house, and just spend the entire weekend eating and watching movies. The theme of yesterday evening was "movies filmed in Astoria, Oregon." So, we watched Short Circuit, Kindergarten Cop, and The Goonies. The Goonies is one of my favorite movies, which I've watched countless times, but I haven't seen Short Circuit or Kindergarten Cop at least since Steve Guttenberg was a sex symbol. Both are surprisingly charming movies that hold up pretty well!

Such a great theme - and I recently watched The Goonies again, really enjoyed it (had been so long since I last watched it, I'd even forgotten the "You gotta do the Truffle Shuffle" scene).
Last time I was in CA, I checked out the remaining locations from The Lost Boys and found that a really interesting and fun bit of nostalgia.

Just watched the season finale (season 3) of resident alien....how many cliffhangers was that!? 6? 7?
I'm really looking forward to more of this show! Alan Tudyk is so fun to watch in it.

We just finished the season finale (season 2) of Severance this morning. I've been enjoying reading posts in the subreddit about it with all the theorycrafting of what's happening and how next season will play out.

We watched The Lost Boys on Saturday, too! Funny enough, my friend I was watching with had lived in the area, and kept pointing out how all the landmarks were being represented in the movie. Tons of fun.

I just finished Adolescence on Netflix.

The fact that each of the four hour-long episodes were filmed in one take alone was mesmerising.

I think we're going to try to knock that out in the next week or so!
