We discuss our cam girl jobs here so often, I figured it would be nice to see what other jobs everyone has had and what they loved about them. Hell, even post what you hated about them if you want to! Even jobs we love have parts we hate. Duh.

The only rule is that the answer can't be "camming" or "being a cam girl". :) I'm sure that's the actual answer for many, but, still. I want to hear from Models and Members alike!

Clearly, don't give specifics as far as store names, company names, office locations, etc.

-----------------------------------------------

My favorite was being a hostess at a very busy restaurant. I got to dress cute and eat yummy food. :) I was also in charge of all the other hostesses, making their schedules, hiring, firing, etc. So I got to be a boss of lots of other cute fun girls, too!

Neat idea!

My favorite job before camming was being the front-end manager in a busy retail store. I did a mix of things from supervising all cashiers, handling customers, opening/closing the store and handled all store funds. Basically, I got to work in casual clothes, told a lot of people what to do and had a lot of power at a very young age.

The only reason I left was to pursue my education without anything else to worry about.

I was a salesperson at Ritz Camera for a bit and that was a lot of fun. I was a photography student at the time so I got to play around with things I'd never have known about without working there, got to see which things were worth the money.. Plus got a 30% discount all the time and a 50% discount once a year (so you could buy something crazy pricey like a $4000 camera for 2000 once a year).

I also got to geek out all day, show people cameras, talk about them. It was a pretty good experience.

Re: What has been your favorite job in your life? (non-cammi

Ack I can't pick one!

Making fancy leather purses was fun, but I didn't get paid

I worked as a steamstress at a costume shop in the theatre department of my college. I got paid to sew and play dress up!!! Amazing skill and oh my god the collection of costumes we had: Edwardian, Elizabethan, 1960s, random artsy ones!! Theatre people are wacky in a fun, confident way that was great to be around.

Also being a TA was really amazing. Fun helping professors and students! I did a lot of "mentoring" in writing and good lord its satisfying to help people effectively communicate their ideas! Also really neat readinf about what everyone else is studying

When I was in third grade, they gave people in our class make believe jobs. I was a politician of some sort or other. I was sadly very corrupt though, because I never paid any of the fines I accrued for late homework or did any actual work to earn my salary. I cashed out at the end of the year, and got some cool eraser topper figures. That was the only job I ever loved.

Re: What has been your favorite job in your life? (non-cammi

my favorite job was my main job. nurse's assistant... particularly hospice care. there's magic at the end of life that cant be found anywhere else, and being allowed to be the person to share those last times was an honor, a privilege and remains the part of my work i miss the most

Anyone that can work as a CNA gets all my respect.  I did it for 3 years and had to walk away from health care completely.

I worked at a doggy daycare and basically got to play with dogs all day. I'm a huge animal lover so this was pretty much the perfect job for me. Unfortunately my social anxiety got to be very unmanageable and I had to quit the job...

Once my anxiety is under control I hope to do something like this again in the future. Animals are my calling!

Awww this is something I'd LOVE to do!! I couldn't handle working at a vet office and seeing all the sickness and animal death, but I would love to babysit doggies at a facility MADE for babysitting doggies!!

I'm working in a record store at the weekends while I get my degree during the week. There's a lot of things I hate about it but there's a lot of things I love about it too - early starts where there's no customers for the first hour and I have an entire store's worth of albums to rifle through and listen to; getting to see/hear albums/films that haven't been released yet; being paid to tell people what music they should be listening to (I'm like an infinitely less cool version of Jack Black's character in High Fidelity :-D).
Most of all though, I love our batshit crazy regular customers. I could write a book about them if I could be arsed (maybe not a good book, but a book nonetheless). Here be but a few of them;

"Welcome Back Any Time" Woman - we have a woman come in at least once a week who, after coming in and buying whatever she buys, will then ask if she's "welcome back any time". We'll tell her that yes, of course she's welcome back any time, to which she'll reply, "I'm welcome back any time aren't I?". This'll go in for literally five, ten minutes at a time, back and forth. Same question, same answer, rinse, repeat, ad nauseum...

Michael Jackson Lady - this lady comes in every week without fail and buys every Michael Jackson album we have in store. I've sold her Thriller at least 50 times in the three years she's been coming in. She denies it, but she must have hundreds of copies of every Jacko album by now.

Fun Girl - she's relatively new but every week she'll come in and buy the new Fun album (I've sold it to her three times now) just so she has an excuse to tell whoever serves her that she personally knows the band, Fun.

"It's Cheaper In Tescos" Guy - this guy will often spend hours, literally hours searching for an album or a film that he knows to be cheaper in Tesco, just so he can bring those albums/films to the counter and inform us that they are in fact, cheaper in Tesco.

"Millionaire" Guy - we have a guy come in every few weeks, buy a chocolate bar and then apropos of nothing at all, start a conversation thusly "That's the thing though isn't it? If I was a millionaire...". He'll then go on to inform us what he'd do if he was a millionaire, what he wouldn't do if he was a millionaire, what other people might do if they were millionaires, the problems with being a millionaire, the responsibilities of a millionaire, or whatever else has occurred to him that week about millionairedom.

:-D

I was a television master control operator as well as a production assistant for that station's nightly news (alternated between studio setup & camera op/sound board/teleprompter/queuing & switching tapes). I like to tell people that I got paid to watch TV, which technically I did, but the rest of the job entertained me nearly as much. Most of the time I was the only person in the building, in a room full of blinking LEDs, several dozen monitors and about a million knobs and buttons. And damn, who doesn't just love pushing important looking buttons? Plus, yes. Getting paid to watch The Simpsons. Not awful.

I still have no idea how I was able to come out of that job knowing absolutely nothing about football (or NASCAR, for that matter) despite running the switcher for nearly every game over an entire season. But I still panic whenever I hear the bumper music that means they're going to commercials. Since games are live you've got to switch to commercials manually, so bumper music is actually a secret code for master control operators that means rush over to the board and push the button... wait for it... wait for it... NOW!!! I keep hearing it lately from my upstairs neighbours and it absolutely drives me bonkers!

I still wish you were studying nursing! :-x

One of my fantasies is being in hospital and having Cassandra fucking Calogera strut in to take my blood pressure (which would have just skyrocketed) ;P

BTW I was on the reality kings main page the other day and your pic is right on the banner at the top :D

Working in daycare centers was cool. :) The pay wasn't great, but it was fun working with kids in a classroom setting.

This is a toughie, I've had some particularly fun jobs outside of camming.

I got to work for $10 an hour plus commission bonuses selling cups of fruit and microwave meals, dressed in super cute business suits to soldiers and their families. Fun! I pretty much made my own hours, chose what stores to display my hostess stand at and got to sample all of the products as I gave out coupons and other samples. It was incredibly fun and so enjoyable. If it weren't for a few issues with the company, I would definitely do that job again. It was my first career type job and really helped build my work ethic.

But, that sales job would be tied with my position working at Cirilla's Adult Lingerie Boutique (it's a small designer franchise). I can't lie, that job was fucking awesome shit. I got to dress to the nines, wear super cute heels and sell designer lingerie and toys all day long. I worked alone, not counting customers, and got all the free rental porn I could want. Hell, I even had a cute little stool that I got to perch on behind the register. :D Nobody but me was gung ho about me working there but I really, really enjoyed that job. I made a piddley little $8.50 an hour but it was worth it. I used those paychecks to open my first checkings and savings account and have lots of funny stories about some of the customers we used to get. If my old boss would move his ass and open a store here in Music City, I'd ditch camming and everything else to work with him again in a heartbeat. Even though it would mean making $500 less a month.

Working at the Akita rescue these last few years has been my favorite job. I mostly train them and deal with any delivering of pups. But I do a little bit of everything. Finding homes and watching them go from unhealthy, under weight and untrained to well behaved and healthy dogs is the most rewarding part.

Re: What has been your favorite job in your life? (non-cammi

My current job. I work in an embroidery shop and it's a lot of fun. I pretty much wear whatever I want so usually my tee and jeans, it's only just me and my boss, and I do get special perks! Can't really discuss that part but my friends are jealous  I'm still unfamiliar with the computer program to make embroidery designs (though names are no problem). I run these machines like a champ and well, I don't really deal with very many people and I pretty much make my own schedule as well!

favorite job? a Stocker at a liquor store while in high school because, well getting alcohol became that much easier when making friends with the right cashiers. Though my current job I make enough money to pay off responsibilities, put money away for saving, and still have enough left over to buy myself presents and travel and since I am a huge fan of money this current job is probably my favorite.

I composed an absurdly long post for this thread, and seconds before completion my laptop died. Now I'm too apathetic to duplicate it, so I'll keep it short and sweet.

It's a toss up between my last job, and my current job. My last job being a candy maker/cashier/general bad ass at a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I don't really need to explain why that job was awesome. Currently I'm a receptionist at a non-profit community mental health agency, in the children's department. Often times it is soul crushingly depressing work, but it's also rewarding. I may just be the secretary, but I make that place work, and I've been there long enough to where I have a great relationship with a lot of the kids and parents.

Fuck if I don't miss making caramel apples and playing in chocolate every day, though.

My fav job was about 2 years after college. I was raised around boats and as such, had a lot of friends with them. I got hired to deliver a few motor yachts and several sailboats to various places along the coast from Galveston or Corpus. During one of those trips to Florida, I met a yacht dealer. He subsequently put me on the payroll and gave me a 46' yacht to live on for the next 2 years on his dime. He would send potential clients that were a bit on the edge of spending the cash for one of their own, to me for some time on the water. I would take them offshore for anywhere from a couple of days to almost 2 weeks at a time, kicking back, enjoying the fishing and solitude or partying lifestyle, teaching them the basics of navigation and how to run/maintain a boat of that size. Always clinched the deal...

My favorite job working for "the man" was my job working at Petco. I was the Aquatics Specialist there, and later on I took over the Reptiles department (after the Reptiles Specialist got into a car wreck). I'm a big animal lover and it was an awesome job with a fun crew to work with and we were always playing pranks on each other.
One time, one of the assistant managers played a prank on the main store manager by taking the dead frozen hamsters, (when an animal would die, we store them in a freezer in the back warehouse and then later ship them off to be incinerated) anyways he took the dead hamsters and set them up all on her desk to look like they where having a tea party (of the damned!) It looked a little bit like this:

Only instead of squirrels they where hamsters that looked more like this:

Re: What has been your favorite job in your life? (non-cammi

Hmm, toss up between two jobs.

Barman - in a local village pub. It was just a social chat with lots of people who would buy rounds, with a drink for yourself included. The boss was very laid back - and knowing my favourite pint, when the tap acted up (lively pints, half head half beer) we'd have to offer another beer to the customer. He let me drink every single one of those half poured beers. By the end of the shift I was utterly hammered. If it were quiet I also got to watch movies and basically have a great social time with people.

The other was working in a model store. It isn't a store full of models, think more of a supermarket (like Walmart) but without the customers. Just all the TV's, game consoles, books, toys that they sell - laid out in aisles to see how things looked. The only people in this huge warehouse were me (the manager), the suppliers who'd drop samples off at 9am and leave, the marketers who'd come and stick it on a shelf and picture it for perhaps 1 hour per day, and.. that's about it. I used to watch TV, play with remote control cars, read books, recline on inflatable deckchairs - and when the "boss" came around - play hungry hippos and a quick game of badminton. 20 year old guy playing with toys all day long. Now that was an awesome job :D

Sadly the pay was poor on both of them.

Re: What has been your favorite job in your life? (non-cammi

I worked as a dog groomer a number of years back. I LOVE doggers so much and it was so awesome to spend my days with them! We did a lot of volunteer work for rescues and seizures. I once spent 5 hours slowly shaving down a horribly neglected standard poodle who was one giant mat, moving at a pace that wouldn't pull and hurt. He licked my nose every few minutes and it was totally worth it.
One of the reasons I left was not the rescues and seizures, though sometimes they were REALLY hard but the "normal" owners. The ones who would bring in their shitzu in pajamas and insist on us leaving it's hair long. Even though the poor guy had cottony hair and she never brushed him. :( Plus, not sure how many times I can have my thumb nail punctured by a Schnauzer, Gimme a tub full of pitter bulls any day!

Re: What has been your favorite job in your life? (non-cammi

Before camming I was a medical assistant instructor. Love both fields medical and teaching. It also comes in handy that they are both the male fantasy sexy nurse or sexy teacher.

Both teaching and taking care of patients is hard work but it is rewarding. :)

Re: What has been your favorite job in your life? (non-cammi

Waitressing.
It isn't that I actually enjoyed the job, but I feel as though it helped me to become a better person. Before I waited tables I was painfully shy and timid, but after working at a crazy diner for a few years I came out of it a totally different person. It helped me to become the outgoing little fireball that I am today, and for that I'm thankful.

One of my favorite jobs of all time was being the night/closing manager of a local grocery store. It was a blast, both the store manager and assistant manager were very down to earth friendly people, treated there employees like family and was always very accommodating to any schedule. Both of my best friends worked there with me as cashiers, all the other employees that worked nights were highschool/college kids (16-21...I was 18 when I started managing) so I was constantly working with friends. The job itself wasn't the most glamorous (it was actually kind of dangerous considering who worked at night, location of the store, and how much money was kept on hand in the safe) and the pay sucked, enjoying the people I worked with and for definitely made that my favorite working experience.
