I'm going to be the unpopular opinion puffin on this subject, but this is an interesting event (which was announced today):

An Italian MP has described the 9/11 terrorist attacks, in which around 3,000 people were killed, as "an inside job" and slammed the official version of events as a "conspiracy".

Its interesting stuff. The thermite in the building and the way the windows were blowing out is all suggestive. How much might be CGI added after the fact or otherwise fabricated is the question.

Tens of Thousands of people were eye witness to the event. There was no CGI.

I am always curious if people who watch these silly videos actually do any googling to try and get the other side. "9/11 conspiracy debunked" will let you read, and watch dozens of program providing a point by point refutation by mostly non-governmental source.

Even more educational is to do a bit of googling about the so called experts that are featured on these videos.

The first expert is Lynn Margulis, who is identified as National Science of Medal winner. The late Dr Margulis is in fact a notable scientist, and she was even married to Carl Sagan for several year. The problem is here PHd and work is the field of biology hardly a suitable expert on structural engineering.
But even more important she is a conspiracy nut. The last professional work she did was writing a paper showing that HIV virus doesn't cause AID. In fact she doesn't even believe AIDs exist it is just a type of Syphilis. I wonder how many 9/11 conspiracy folks also think AIDs was a CIA plot.

One of the next guys interviewed. Steve Barash identified as High Rise architect, and Master of Architect and Urban Design. Who is "designer at major 33 year old architecture firm". Google reveal a different story, Steve has a small business which employes he and wife in California. The last building they worked on was a restaurant renovation. It also appears Steve is a bad landlord and you shouldn't rent from him. Some expert.

Anyway 0 for 2 is enough.

Apparently your tiny brain cannot grasp that it is video. Video can be manipulated. What witnesses didn't see in the 10 seconds the buildings fell down is not really relevant if it was added in later.
Then there would be a lot of discrepancies between the visual documents. I don't recall reading about anything like that.

I get legit mad reading anything by 9/11 conspiracy theorists.
You should get legit mad that there has been no justice for 12 years. :shhh:

I was 9 years old, getting ready for school when the news came on. I remember my family was in shock. I was too young to full grasp what had happened. I remember being late for school that day so my mom could watch the news. Some students stayed home.

I'll just say this about conspiracies. Not necessarily 9/11 ones, but just in general.
I've met a lot of really intelligent people in my life. I mean, IQ's of a genius type. They all had one thing in common. They all left room for doubt. To be so sure of something, one way or the other, is closing your mind off to possibilities. There are almost always possibilities. :twocents-02cents:

Every "genius" I've ever met would disagree with this. Pretty sure this dude would too.

I find it incredibly ironic you chose to disagree with a statement about 'geniuses having doubt,' and the one person you decide to quote to back up your point is also famous for another quote saying geniuses have doubt. :woops:

“The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.”

I work nights and don't usually get up until mid-morning or sometimes even later. Then I have a quiet routine. Make coffee, eat a bowl of cereal, read the newspaper, no TV, no radio. So I was blissfully unaware until nearly noon (central time) when the boss called and told me to get to work early because we were printing an extra edition. Then the day changed drastically.

Most geniuses are skeptics but not when it comes to things that can be proven. Did you have a point?

Yep, I made it. You missed it.

Back on topic!

I had just turned 15 and was a sophomore in high school when it happened. The first plane hit during my 1st hour Biology (I think, I really can't remember) class and I found about it walking into my 2nd hour Creative Writing class. We had classes all day, but we basically just watched the news and talked a lot about how we felt. It didn't really have an effect on me though, it felt like I was watching some bizarre movie.

I truly feel for anyone involved now, not just because of the hurt and the loss, but because every year they have to be reminded of this terrible thing that happened. I can't even begin to imagine how they must avoid tv/radio/social networking/etc. in September.

Too busy being annoyed by loons that won't accept what has been proven.

Explain world trade centre tower 7 collapsing and get back to us then.

Nobody has ever explained how the people working in these buildings failed to notice crews spending weeks tearing down walls to cut out key structural supports in order to collapse it with explosives.
On September 11, 2001, 7 WTC was damaged by debris when the nearby North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. The debris also ignited fires, which continued to burn throughout the afternoon on lower floors of the building. The building's internal fire suppression system lacked water pressure to fight the fires, and the building collapsed completely at 5:21:10 pm.[5] The collapse began when a critical internal column buckled and triggered structural failure throughout, which was first visible from the exterior with the crumbling of a rooftop penthouse structure at 5:20:33 pm.

I will never forget that day!
I am curious about what others remember and what you where doing on this historical day?
And did this horrible tragedy effect you in any way?

I created this post in remembrance for the people that died on that historical day!

Here are some numbers to ponder!

Deaths by Area of Attack Deaths
World Trade Center 2,606
Airlines 246
Pentagon Building 125
Hijackers 19
Total number of people who died in the 9/11 attacks 2,996
Casualties in the World Trade Center and Surrounding Area Deaths
Residents of New York 1,762
Persons in North Tower (Tower 1) 1,402
Persons in South Tower (Tower 2) 614
Residents of New Jersey 674
Employees of Marsh Inc. 355
Firefighters 343
Employees of Aon Corporation 175
Port Authority police officers 37
Police officers 23
Paramedics 2
1 firefighter was killed by a man who jumped off the top floors
Casualties on the Airplanes Deaths
American Airlines Flight 11 (North Tower) 87
United Airlines Flight 175 (South Tower) 60
American Airlines Flight 77 (Pentagon) 59
United Flight 93 (Shanksville, PA) 40
Casualties inside the Pentagon Deaths
Military and civilian deaths 125

In the 12 years after the fact I have my own ideas on how it all may have happened but that is not the point.

I'm more upset by the number of first responders that have died since that event from suffering debilitating diseases by all the poisons in the air (Though the EPA basically said "Poisons? What poisons? Everything is fine." Took almost until 2011 for the senate to be shamed into giving the first responders any sort of help, while the numbers of deaths and cancer patients caused by working at ground zero increased. Ridiculous.

This must be the MFC equivalent of "Yo mama is SO ugly..."

I was in high school. My mom busted into my room at about 6AM to wake up me for school but also to show me what was happening on CNN. We watched it for a bit, completely aghast. We listened to its coverage on NPR on the drive to school as well. At school, we watched coverage of it on the news for my first 3 classes and then my 4th period English class teacher was like, "Enough." She refused to turn the TV on and resumed class as normal.

i was at work (home health so i was helping my client get bathed and ready for his day) we went through his living room where the footage was being shown (live might i add).

at first i just thought "oh, that sucks balls" exactly those words. it was just the wtc being shown and i figured hey, NYC has a really good fire department and emergency services. theyll get it under control quick and it wont be a big deal. then reports started coming through about how it had happened. and the other flights that went down. some of the talking heads were already talking about possible terrorist involvement.

i was nauseous. then a bit angry, though not at all surprised. the ability of human beings to be evil and cruel never surprises me. i remember thinking that the after effects would be horrendous (and they were). but i also remember feeling a righteous hunger for vengeance if it was terrorists (and by this point with multiple planes down what else could it be?)

by the time i got home that afternoon i was tired and depressed. i sort of knew that as a country we would flip our shit. i was sort of prepared for it to end up as world war 3. i didnt cry much. i was on a medication that wouldnt let me cry much at all so i remember doing so since it was rare then.

as the info rolled in of the next days and weeks i was able to feel smug at least having predicted at least partially the stupidity our government would engage in (though iraq blew my mind! not the target i had in mind for scapegoat retaliation). but that smugness was just to allay the fear and sorrow. for me the tragedy wasnt that people died. people die all the time, horribly so. it was the callousness of the attack. i had sort of thought that the world was past such blind religious hatred. i studied islam a bit over the years and nothing i ever read or discussed led me to believe that any muslim worthy of the name would do such things. a muslim so cowardly as to use non warriors as weapons? that blew my ever loving mind. even suicide bombers arent cowards like that. they at least usually go after military targets (usually)

anyway, social theory and personal views on religion aside. the attacks were horrid. but there was one thing that gave me hope for our sorry species during the aftermath. new york was for a brief time a bastion of american ideals of cooperation and equality. race didnt matter. with everyone working to save lives and recover the dead the wonderful melting pot of america shone bright for me. yeah as usual we fucked it up later on with over reaction against muslims and arabic people, but still.

so out of the sadness and fear and anger i was able to hold onto the idea, the ideal, of what america is supposed to mean, and i got to see it in the people of new york. they represented what the human race is capable of at its best, in the face of the worst we are capable of. regardless of any problems i have with what our government did later, or with the leaders of the time, the PEOPLE stood strong and beautiful under crisis.

I was in elementary school and living on one of the bases they thought might fall under attack. Our whole school and base went into lockdown. Kids were escorted 5 at a time by teachers and we had the MPs go to each school to make sure each kid was on a bus, had all their belongings and were seated. We weren't allowed to know what happened until we got home but it was scary seeing armed servicemen at the entrance of every single school on base. I was one of the lucky kids because I got to sit with my sister and brother on the bus on the way home. Lots of our friends ended up getting split up and scared. My dad was deployed at the time and all I remember was wondering if this was going to be the time when he finally didn't come home. Worst feeling ever.

I was at work listening to the Score sports radio station out of Chicago when they broke in to say a plane hit one of the towers. I went into the bosses office and we turned on the TV. I will never forget seeing that second plane hit. It was the biggest WTF moment in my life! The mass loss of life that day weighed heavily on my soul.
