What are the signs that a CB Model is simply a hired wage-earning / hourly paid actor?

Naive inquiry, I admit. It JUST occurred to me a couple days ago that a CB Model I adore and contribute to not-insignificantly might possibly simply be a paid actor for an Agency (or whatever you call these things). 🤦🏻‍♂️

When viewing CB through the years I have tried to keep in perspective that the majority of models on my screen are entertainers acting, sometimes VERY convincingly, similar to adult dancers. The "best" (most succe$$ful?) models acutely develop and hone their powers of persuasion and manipulation through experience and trial-and-error until they can convince even the most skeptical observer to suspend their disbelief. It can be awe-inspiring to observe, and I admire them for their skills and talents similarly to how I admire accomplished actors.

However, IMHO, for some reason there is a distinctly different and despondent feeling of disappointment and disillusionment when one considers the possibility that a model one has grown to adore may simply be a hired wage-earning or hourly paid actor, and have no involvement whatsoever in the ins-and-outs of "her" CB Room &/or OF page . . they are simply playing the role of a character assigned to them.

What are some of the tell-tale signs . . and/or . . how can one know? THX

Not sure about the signs or chaturbate, but bongacams invited actresses (like Sasha Grey) to broadcast on their site. But they never hid it, I think they are well known to everyone. The actresses did not hide the fact that in addition to the first page and tips, they receive a fee for this show. (the script was written, or rather the basic requirements), but the amount of the fee always remained a secret. So it's safe to assume that some models do get paid (hourly), but it's unlikely that anyone will tell you about it. If this is actually happening, there is most likely a non-disclosure agreement in place. So we will never know about it)
Although there is one possible sign, a large number of people and an operator who answers the message.

Studio models have a set of metrics they have to hit during a broadcast and those vary by studio.

If you're going to start turning over rocks looking for worms, you will find them but the question is what will you do with the knowledge? Will it make you despise studios and seek independent models instead? Will you start interviewing every model as if your 5 cents is worth the world to you and she can't have it until she satisfies your queries?

You're walking a slippery slope here. Jist enjoy and tip. Motivation and causation are really absolutely none of your business. 🙂😉

As a Former stripper that perfected the art of lying all night to men in 6 inch heels with vanilla cupcake body spray. We are all actors in some way or another as cam models. It’s Amazing it’s Fun!!! It’s my whole Life! $$$$$$$$$$!

The chances are 10 in 10 or 100%. It is impossible to be a cam model, and not act at least a small percentage of the time.
We are all actresses, who use the full scope of our bodies, as creative vehicles, for our thespian endeavors
And trust me, every single one of us deserves a Goddamn oscar, if you knew some of the real shit we sometimes have to deal with!
Mattress Actresses.

The chances that you will ever figure out exactly who is acting, and at which times they are acting, are close to 0.

Totally agree with you and understand this aspect of being a model of any sort, whether it be on a stage, in front of a photographer, camming, etc. I'm not talking about this, as far as I'm aware. I am talking about a Studio simply hiring an amateur actress (I am aware that's an oxymoron) to play a somewhat or fully scripted role on a camming site, CB in this case, wherein the model I interact with on my screen is not involved whatsoever in decision-making regarding the ins-and-outs of their room, beyond responding "yes or no" to what the Studio tells / asks them what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. The model is basically an actor being directed on a scripted set, given rough ideas for lines and ample room to improvise. That feels different to me, for some reason.

Thank you; this is along the lines of what I am asking . . except I am not talking about "famous" people (like Sasha Grey, who I wold LOVE to personally interact with on a camming site.) I am talking about unknown "actresses" (is one an actress before engaging in one's first role?) being hired by, for example, a financially comfortable individual or group of individuals (which can sometimes be a Company . . or Studio) on an hourly or contract basis to play a certain role in a certain way on a certain site, CB in this case. So, the individual I interact with on my screen is NOT the person I assume I am supporting and "getting to know" (dubious, I know) on my screen, but an actress being paid an hourly wage or a small percentage of the profits generated by their Room, being directed in playing the ROLE of a specific character constructed and scripted by a financially comfortable individual or group of individuals banking on that actress raking in the profits.

Such a solid response; thank you. And you're right, of course, as naively heartbreaking as it is.

Initially, I was certainly not turning over rocks looking for worms; I was blissfully enjoying the beautiful path. But I kept stubbing my toe on some large, unseen rocks, so I started to watch my step. And then I saw more and more rocks, and worms under them. Now I guess I'm trying to figure out if I want to continue on this uncomfortable path, or I might simply be on a particularly rocky section and it'll flatten out in a while, or if I should get off this path and simply find a smoother one. If that's possible.

It *IS* a slippery slope, you're absolutely correct, unfortunately, and I agree that other people's motivation and causation are none of my business. But MY motivation and causation ARE my business.

For example: If I believe I'm giving money to a non-profit to research a cure for cancer, and come to find out it is simply a very-much for-profit Shell Company being run by a group of investors to make an easy buck . . "yes," that would bother me very much, and I hope I would do some due diligence before financially supporting an innocent-looking non-profit in the future.

Ok fair enough, but I'm pretty sure coaching of studio models (at some studios) has been going on forever now. But I get it, there's some nuance there, that's important to you. I'm not sure what the difference is with a paid actor, and coaching a young cam model, while having an admin run her chat is? I'm not trying to be obtuse here, I genuinely don't see the difference. Maybe that is what you're meaning ie coaching?

I'm not super well versed in how studios operate but I have been a member of this forum since 2019 or so, so I've read a ton of information about it, out of curiosity etc. Some or many studios have an employee running the chat, while the model behaves in a way the studio coached them to behave, on a bed, in a room she didn't decorate. That room is not in her real home. In some cases, she never chose the lingerie she's wearing. At the end of her shift, she goes somewhere else, where she's known by a different name. Then on pay day she pops back by to get a check.

I understand not wanting to throw good money after bad decisions on someone else's part. If a model is consistently regaling her audience with stories about how her grandmother who died last week suddenly recovered and needs a kidney transplant, or that she's madly in love with you and wants to meet up or targets you specifically for a thing -- RUN. Run hard.

You can tell the difference between a genuine catastrophe in a model's life and one that is used like a snake oil saleswoman -- there is no grandma, no one died, she's very much fine and well off but it's easier to be a damsel in distress sometimes than doing it the correct way. I would dare say that all of the models on this forum who comment and commit to commenting in these threads run very ethical and judicious businesses.

The danger is in seeing every model as a scam. Any "script" a studio model may go by is going to be "buy my OF, buy my insta, buy my twitter, take me private, buy me a toy with [x] tokens, et al." The ones who are independent and conscientious that it can end at any given time are going to treat their viewers differently. Yes we need and want your tokens, but not everyone is going to treat you like an ATM. If they do treat you that way, walk away.

I realize you're just using this as an example of disappointment for money spent, but I urge you to avoid making any comparison between tipping/paying for a cam model's show and entertainment and a charity contribution.

If you can just dial back a bit and go to a cam site to simply enjoy the attention and display of a lovely, attractive lady, then you will not worry so much about whether it's an act. Do not go on CB to "save" a pretty lady from herself, or from her familial dilemmas, etc. Tip if you're enjoying a show, or if she's given you attention that made you feel nice (whether it be a smile or a boner, whathaveyou). Take her private if you have a particular show in mind. Then close the app and go have a sleep before any post-nut clarity clamors in and makes you think too far into where that "entertainment budget money" you just spent is going.

Wow! SO beautiful and artfully expressed! Thank you . . again 🙏

The Model I am referring to has not really regaled us with any “woe is me” stories, and other viewers in her room, with whom I have had Private conversations, for-the-most-part seem to feel the way I do: her OF is entirely managed by an Agency / Studio (same thing?), although onscreen the Model continually professes to personally read and respond to all her messages and do everything on her OF by herself . . and that the person we see onscreen is genuinely a rather wholesome, gracious, thoughtful, upbeat, energetic, humble, open-minded, considerate and engaging individual.

I don’t necessarily see “her / the model” as scamming me; I don’t feel she has ever interacted with any of her Tippers like an ATM. However, I strongly suspect she is part of a scam, because she DOES seem like / play the part of an “independent and conscientious” model who’s “aware that it can end at any given time” and “treats [her] viewers differently.”

I guess I would hate to realize that is mostly simply a character, like in a play or a movie, and the Model is a good actor who might actually be a mean, rude, self-centered, obnoxious bully in real life.

OMG . . thank you SO much for your thoughtful response, I really appreciate it 🙏

To be candid . . I have only been aware of even the concept of “studios” and “agencies” and “Chatters” etc for a very short time. Perhaps I’ve been grossly naive, as I was one of those unsuspecting viewers who happily watched CB and other cam sites believing these people were individuals performing with autonomy for and by themselves with no help or assistance from the outside world (besides a friendly Moderator.) I had absolutely no idea that there are “admins” and “coaches.”

Ok, I’ve been grossly (happily) naive.

And now I feel I’ve swallowed the Blue Pill and seen behind the curtain.

Now I am also “not sure what the difference is between a paid actor” who clocks in her hours for a wage or small percentage of what she would earn on her own . . and “coaching a young cam model, while having an admin run her chat is?” You’re correct: there is a nuance, and it IS important to me for some reason.

I would LOVE to learn more about these studios and agencies. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations where I could start?

There is a lot of information on the public part of this forum. I don't really want to encourage you to go down that rabbit hole though.
I really liked Amber's answer.
Imo that would be a great place to stop, and not bother about it anymore.
But it's your life.

Although I still don't necessarily understand exactly what you are getting at, I feel like you might be on the verge of ruining something , that was previously fun, for yourself.
The real her could be a bully and all that other stuff, or the real her could be a mixture of different characteristics, that come out at different times, at different places, with different people. The real her could just as easily be a saint. Even saintlier than the version you see of her in the room. You really never know, and would have no way of ever knowing for sure.

I see this whole thing in very simplistic terms; either you busted to the tits and ass, or you didn't. No need to worry about anything else.

Well said, and point taken, thank you 🙏

I certainly didn’t intend to portray the Model about whom I am talking — ANY model, really — as "a charity case" or "in need" of my help. And I don’t consciously feel like I am “saving” any of the models I support financially on CB, although I would be open to accusations from that perspective. It just feels like the right thing to do, to compensate somebody financially for the time and effort they have put in to engaging with and entertaining me, for lack of a better word. ESPECIALLY in the vulnerable and sensual world of adult entertainment on the internet, where very VERY soon facial recognition software will make any concept of anonymity seem quaint and laughable.

For some reason, I find it very difficult (impossible?) to “simply enjoy the attention and display of a lovely, attractive lady” *IF* I am aware that lady is simply working for somebody else who gives her a paycheck to perform the part of a compelling Model in a scripted play in order to manipulate my senses and emotions into giving them my money . . over and over.

To be honest, I don’t think I have ever “touched myself” or been in a state of undress (TMI?) while I’ve been in this Model’s room (50+ hours); I genuinely enjoy spending time with her and her music (and the other participants of the Chat). She comes across as an intelligent, well-adjusted young lady who had a relatively “normal” (wholesome?) childhood and probably grew up with loving parents in a supportive environment. (All guesses based on completely unvalidated observations, of course)

She conscientiously maintains a positive, friendly vibe in her room, which is one of the reasons she is consistently on the first two rows (and first box) of the first CB page every time she streams. She doesn’t do Private Messaging. She doesn’t do C2C. She doesn’t do Privates. She didn’t do ticket shows. She doesn’t have a FanClub. She doesn’t sell any videos or pictures on her CB or her OF. She never asks for money.

I just don’t get it: a Studio could be K-I-L-L-I-N-G it financially if they implemented just a few of these fairly standard things . . but they haven’t.

If she were not part of a Studio, SHE could be K-I-L-L-I-N-G it financially if she implemented just a few of these fairly standard things . . but she hasn’t.

And you're absolutely right, of course, that everybody can be all of those things at different times in different situation with different people. One can never know because there is no way of knowing.

I appreciate your suggestion to KISS (keep it simple, stupid), and will consider it.

What I was initially concerned about regarding Agencies and Studios was . . are they nefarious parts of the international sex-trade? Do they hold the Model's family at gunpoint unless she performs when they say to, how they say to, etc? Is she being coerced against her will into performing for the Agency or the Studio by unknown circumstances?

In which case, I obviously do not want to contribute financially, right?

Yes, that's a common trope though.

In reality, she probably does have to do some things sexually, that she doesn't want to. Not because she is being held at gunpoint. Nor because some weirdo has her Mom in their basement, where she's being force-fed turnips. Probably because she likely has a strict quota to meet, in order to be competitive at her studio. In some countries cam modeling is an esteemed job, in others it's looked down upon.

One thing you can, however, be sure of is that if she's prominent on CB; there are probably 100s/ 1000s/ 10, 000s of other men, who have been watching and analyzing her every move, for signs of coercion or sex trafficking. These things are supposed very frequently in this industry. Yet she's still there, so they have likely failed to find any, because it's probably not happening. As I said, it's a very common trope and also actually a very strong fetish for some too (Damsel in Distress). When you are a cam model, random dude's you've never met, get very concerned about your welfare. Which is sweet... in moderation.

All of the sites, especially CB, are very stringent, and law abiding.

Yes, it is a fact that every model is a bit of an actress. A little more psychologist lol. And in general, there are many qualities. Webcam is actually something more than just sitting in front of a camera, as many people who are not involved in this mistakenly think, but the original question was about something a little different.

In general, what you are asking about is quite possible, but it is unlikely that they will tell you about it.

Also, many webcam models who become popular take the services of managers who answer for you on social networks. This practice is not new, it started with Instagram (in my country).

So if you want to communicate with the same person on camera and on other social networks, you should probably look at less popular models or just enjoy what you see During the live broadcast. But less popular girls rarely promote other social networks and do not want to combine work and personal life.

In any case, the choice is always yours.

but an actress being paid an hourly wage or a small percentage of the profits generated by their Room, being directed in playing the ROLE of a specific character constructed and scripted by a financially comfortable individual or group of individuals banking on that actress raking in the profits.

Studios in general do not over invest in the models, the turn over rate is pretty high its a bad gamble. People imagine some kind of acting class with live acted scenarios but the reality is if theres any kind of coaching its a video or written guide.

I assume this isnt a relatively new model this is a model thats been around a while? if so its unlikely to be a studio, someone would have turned on the fan club by now at the very least.

Previously, studios definitely invested by providing a photo shoot almost immediately (professional photographer), But really good investments, promotion they do when it is visible that the model has the potential to break through. This can be seen in some cases after half a year or a year of work. Typically studios take 60% of the revenue, so in cases like this they will promote it. But not every one, that's for sure. You can leave in a month, so there is no point in it.

Allegedly, the Model I am talking about IS a new model who just started camming 6 months ago, and quickly rocketed to the top of the CB charts: in under three months, she was consistently on the top two rows of the first page. Of course, I have no way of knowing if she has ever cammed before or done any adult work on the internet or in-person (escorting, dancing, massage, dominatrix, nude modeling, etc).

During the first few couple of hers I watched early on, I heard a rumorous murmur from a couple viewers . . something about "she showed more before" and "when she was with So-and-So, she was different than this." And the model addressed the issue by saying something along the lines of, "I'm not on any other site and I've never done this before with anyone."

I think the model I am referring to has proven that she has outstanding potential to be a camming star: in under 3 months, she was consistently on the 1st two rows of CB (often occupying the Top Spot for hours), consistently had 3,500+ "viewers" in her room for hours (including hundreds of Purples & Blues), consistently hit ALL of her goals by midway through her show, and had 5 or 6 *Whales tuning in every time she logged in.

If others' & my estimations re. her Ticket Show are remotely correct (based on the numbers we were trying to keep track of as they scrolled by in the Chat), she had about 300+ viewers who paid 500 Tokens each, some of whom went on to tip MUCH more . . and she made about $20,000+ (understanding that CB takes about 40% and her Studio would probably take another 35%(?) . . she still should have walked away with a pretty penny.

* [Granted, "Whales" is another topic about which I am dubious, per my prior post, "Can Tipping / Transferring Tokens be a Shell Game on CB?"]

I've heard about selling promoted accounts before, but I don't think it works now. Apparently Chaturbate has solved this problem (verified face).

It used to look something like this: A model would leave the studio, but before she left, another model's documents would be uploaded, but the account wasn't marked as a couple. After which the account with a large number of subscribers (but with the same name) passed into the hands of another model, who also had an account before. In general, the studios made money on this. But that was quite a long time ago (more than 5 years ago), I have not seen anything like it since.

The math is a little different, the token value is divided by 2. Subtract 60 percent from the resulting amount. This is the standard. Sometimes studios give you 50% if you make more, or take 70% if you make less.

When I worked at the studio, the standard scheme was from $400 for two weeks (40%) yours, if more than 2000 (you get 50%), If it's less than $400, the studio will take (70%) from you.

Oh, I also heard stories, lol. What the studio said about your amount (this is not Chaturbate, but sites where you see your income immediately in dollars), that the amount in your account is divided by 2, and the site takes it (although the site has already taken its percentage). Afterwards, the studio’s percentage (60%) was calculated from this amount.
But I knew how to calculate interest rates and contract terms, so it didn't happen to me.
But it's really terrible...

As demonstrated prior . . I find it challenging to be accurate if it involves abstract math 🤦🏻‍♂️. All I can confirm is that I saw with my own eyes that there were 300+ people in her Ticket Show who each paid 500Tokens . . and MANY of those people went on the tip 100 . . 500 . . 1000 . . 3000 tokens on top of the Ticket. Multiple times.

The actual amount isn't really important, though. I was simply attempting to evidentially reinforce my thinking that the Model "has proven that she has outstanding potential to be a camming star."

And, side note, I don't understand why the Studio (if she's in one, as I presume) or She (if she's independent, which I strongly doubt) hasn't capitalized more on her income potential via selling pictures & videos ($$$) on CB & OF, creating a FanClub ($$$), higher aspirational Goals to hit during her streams ($$$), updating the very limited content on her OF more frequently than once a month, etc, etc.

Not all studios have good managers for social networks. Most often, this falls on the shoulders of the administrator, of whom there are two at best. Sometimes models become administrators for an additional fee. But not everyone is good at managing content correctly)

Not everyone wants to produce content. I struggle with it. It's not a great comfort zone of mine, I instantly want to delete whatever I post. A lot of people who sell content on CB have the rates very low, that's hard to compete with because guys just want to collect the content like baseball trading cards. Fan club comes with expectations. Like PM, private shows, special flashes/free stuff.

I have several people who spend $$$$ on me in one show...don't automatically assume someone is tipping with the model's tokens.
