I use a Logitech C910, and it's quite nice :)

I use the built in microphone that comes with the C910, and I've heard no complaints (I also use it to voice chat).

You're about to get a ton of people saying "use the search function". :p

I feel like actually answering, cause who knows when the last time it was actually answered was...

the best webcam is also fairly cheap. Logitech 9000 . Webcam pro or quickcam pro doesn't seem to make much difference. The microphone comes with the camera.

You do not have to apply for a license, but when you go to do taxes they will ask for business name. Mine's just my name, no co, no llc, nothing after it. Just my name.

C910 has it's share of difficulties. For a newcomer to being a camgirl, I'd highly recommend the Logitech pro 9000 instead. As LadyLuna pointed out it has a built in mic which works well.

I am currently using the Logitech HD c260. It's a pretty great little camera for the price. Now, the 9000 is better and it's not very expensive but I didn't have enough for it when I bought my camera so I got this one and have loved it so far. I get no complaints about the sound or picture.

Now the 9000 is only $70 or so right now and I may eventually upgrade but I was seriously that broke when I bought it. The difference between $40 and $70 simply wasn't a gap I could bridge. I'm happy with my choice.

I'm sure if you search on eBay or go thru third-party sellers on Amazon for the Logitech 9000 that you could find it for less than $70 though. the picture quality of it is pretty good but not so HD that people can see a fine hair on your skin or anything lol. That'd be kinda weird.

What difficulties? :p

Not to say the 9000 is not a nice cam (I used to own one) -- but I've found the C910 was worth the extra $20 I spent, especially when it comes to being able to do extra things which can come in handy, especially for a new camgirl (taking sexy/high quality profile shoots, etc)... as for "share of difficulties"... I've yet to have any. It installed just fine and works flawlessly on my system (Windows 7), it works well in low light, records 1080p video clips, streams at 720p (from what I experienced with the 9000 it could not record video any higher than 720p), takes lovely high quality still images (at 10 megapixels), has a built-in stereo mic that records well, has nice default colour balancing. IMO, out of all the cams I've owned, the C910 is probably the best I've had... and you know how "new" I am to being a camgirl ;)

Not to knock the 9000, as I used to own one and it was quite nice... but the C910, in my eyes, was a nice upgrade and precisely what I felt I needed to succeed as a newcomer to the cam world. So, at this point all that really matters is what you plan to do with it. If you don't give a crap for recording video at 1080p, or taking still images, go for the 9000... If you want to take things a bit further and get in to video clips, the C910 is worth the little extra. :)

Difficulties in the settings. Getting the color/contrast/white balance just right on it is difficult. But maybe I'm just too picky about those things since I've put so much work into getting my cam to look perfectly clear.

Streaming HD is less than video HD. The Logitech 9000 -can- do HD for a camwhore, but most cam sites only do 320x240 regardless of how great your camera is.

side note... on the licencing etc... an LLC is one of the most expensive licences you can file for (I have an LLC for other reasons then camming)
and please NEVER add a business term like LLC to the end of your name or "company name" when your filing taxes unless you have bought the actual business licence... cas they can get you for fraud, even if it's just a mistake...

also when filing a licence, unless you pay extra, your name and address will be public with the company name

(my LLC (private registered) cost me over 500$, as well as a 13$ monthly fee, and yearly taxes)
