Twitter is experiencing issues today and probably will for the rest of the day/night due to New Years traffic. They are working on it right now. There is a chance that some of the features will be turned off to help with the increased traffic.

It is interesting... status.twitter.com is actually a blog on tumblr and twitter's official blog is hosted on Blogger. I thought that a company like twitter would have it inside its own infrastructure.
