Not to beat a dead horse, but Linda Lovelace was FAR more of an icon than Jenna Jameson in her day. Her name was basically shorthand for porn at a time when it was actually common for "respectable" people to go out and see Deep Throat, etc. Johnny Carson had her on his show, and Bob Hope used to make jokes about her by name. Hell, Woodward and Bernstein nicknamed their Watergate source "Deep Throat" precisely because the movie and its star were household names. She was about as mainstream as you can get. Little old ladies knew who she was; I doubt very many know who Jenna is today. It's not a competition, but to claim that Jenna Jameson is/was anywhere even remotely in the same UNIVERSE as popular and mainstream as Lovelace was in 1972-74 is just incorrect.
Now I'll agree that TODAY (and for the past 20 years), Jenna is the most famous female porn star. But come on, why the revisionist history, folks? It's not like it takes away from your point to note that Jenna was NOT the first, and not the most famous. You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.
