Yes, that's pretty clear at this point. Obama's promises fell flat for the most part.

The amount of celebrities who get to play in politics is greater simply because they're more recognizable faces. Your super informed and genius neighbor, Bob, isn't likely to make it far up the chain unless he's super wealthy or has super wealthy backing, because nobody other than you knows who the fuck he is.

As far as it not being a real job, well, they're certainly not treating it as one, they don't write their own bills and sometimes don't even read them, just vote party line. So on that, I'd agree with your point.

What they should do is change the primary system into a first round system. Since all Canidates in the primary system already using separate warchests for money. Just eliminate the party nomination. Make all primaries open and all candidates from all available parties are on the ballot. Top two candidates by popular vote go to the general election.

This solves two issues.

1. bypasses having to rewrite the constitution for electoral colleges since primary can be popular votes.

2. Adds a level of gerrymandering resistance to the process so a small few are voting for crazy candidates for the general election. Right now what hurts the election system is party nominations carry to much weight in a two party system.

Such things as : Eliminate all private money from the electoral process. All candidates are restricted to the same amount of funds, no more.
No ads. A series of debates will determine the information the voters receive.
Voting districts are drawn by neutral boards equally divided by members of all party affiliations. No more Gerrymandering.
The people can recall elected officials if the do not do their jobs or block needed progress.

politicians havent been doing any job to begin with. Its all propaganda/smoke and mirrors.
lol they are the ones who came up with and run the process. If taxes were abolished , we wouldnt need them either.

While it's true, there's always been demagogues, if that's what you're saying, that's not justification for a system that ensures that the worst possible people can hold office.

Consider the following: This system is called Democracy.

More to the point, the state naturally ensures this will happen as the very qualities that allow someone to gain office are what make them the worst possibly for the actual people.
