Notepad is your friend!

Uses for notepad:

-keep files on your fans, so you can quickly access important info
-test what's currently on your clipboard, so you don't accidentally post sensitive stuff in public chat
-keep notes on what guys have suggested you check out so you can do that off-cam
-keep your profile code in a text file so you have it on hand if it accidentally gets deleted (if you have a bad tag, MFC will delete the whole block), and for easier editing

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.
I use google docs for that. :thumbleft:

spam to paste into chat
documents to store addy's for mailing stuff

And google calendars to save important dates! Adding members' bdays, etc...

Yeah, Notepad is very handy. I use it to keep an alphabetical list of members' e-mail addresses and mailing addresses (for if they've won a mailable prize, etc.) and which of my videos they currently have.

I also use Notepad sometimes to plan my room topics beforehand. That way, I'm not sitting there like "Hmmm, what should my topic be?" Since there's a 100 character limit for room topics, I have this *see below* series of numbers typed out in Notepad. Sometimes I might need to abbreviate to make everything fit within the 100 character limit.

500 tokens til topless! I'm on cam til 4 AM EST. I'm on MFC Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat late nights. Follow on Twitter @yummybrownfox

I use Twitter to do this, && stop when it says I have 40 characters left... Then I copy && paste it into Notepad, in case, I fuck my topic up. :)

I'd like to add: a good camera, with the proper settings applied and adequate lighting.

When I say "adequate lighting", I do not necessarily mean 1 million lumens. There are a few models (Posie, GoddessZoey, for example) who regularly have low light, but an extremely clear video stream. Clear is always better than hazy ;)
Yeah but you're a total camera-nazi, how many times have you been like "yeah she's hot but I just can't stand that miniscule pixellation on her wallpaper" or words to that effect?

Minimum token tip restrictions - I tend to try and keep a steady(ish) flow of 10-20 token tips going when I'm hanging out in a room but I can't ever really afford to drop large tip-bombs or anything. The flipside of that is that I don't ask for anything in return for those tokens. If I go to send a model a 20 token tip and they have a minimum tip of 25 tokens set, I'm just going to assume that they don't need my money all that badly and give it to one of the many models who seem grateful for the small tips as well as the large.

I've noticed this with some models who have seen their camscore go way down. One of which I still try to take private or group when I can... but she's dropped something like 2k camscore after she came back from a long hiatus. It's barely staying at 1000, now.

I've seen some others who have lost camscore doing it, as well.

The particular model I am talking about doesn't ask for a huge amount to get naked, like 400-500 tokens. But, she has, unfortunately, set her tip limit to be no less than 35 tokens.

While I;m sure her rationale is 'this will help the countdown go faster because every tip will be higher' she's cutting herself off from a lot of potential tips.

I'm like Bob84. I like to do smaller tips, more often. Helps let the limited MFC budget last about 5 minutes longer. Or, more importantly, allows me to spread it out to the up to 5 models I may be watching at one time. Yes, I multiperv. But, it's mostly to friends, in PM windows, and they all just happen to be all online at the same time. Hell, two of them are roommates, and when they're on at the same time, I tip each the same amount at the same time.

But, when I'm trying to conserve tokens, while still giving them out, coming up to a 20+ minimum tip makes me just say, 'well, I guess I'm not tipping her today.' Especially if I'm down to my last few tokens for the pay period.

10 token minimums? I can deal, normally. But there are times I am just giving out my last tokens and that isn't always going to be 10 or more. And we all know that having odd tokens leftover is something that can just happen. Like, tonight, I was sending some tips around, and one of the models was EmmyLove. She had on some pink athletic socks, plus her glasses, so I tipped a few 10 token tips with tip notes about her socks and glasses being all hot and sexy and other funny stuff. And, right before I logged off, I had 9 left, and I was able to send them to her. So I think she got like 49 tokens out of me.

But her not having a minimum tip amount let me send those last few tokens. If she had a minimum set, well, they'd have gone to another model.

The thought process might be faster countdowns or just higher overall tips... but by limiting potential tippers, it can have the exact opposite effect. Little to no tips and slower countdowns.

Minimum tip amounts are stupid. A lot of members try for yellow walls, or want to start with 1, tip 2, tip 3 etc. Those of the members who just want to throw in 5 tokens, well it's not much, but it's 5 tokens extra to the countdown, they won't get any individual request for it, even if they ask I don't have to give. I have a member who tips yellow walls of 5 tokens, sometimes other people join in too and well for all the excitement it doesn't come to that much, but still often a couple of hundred into the countdown. Plus sometimes people like to throw big tips in with lots of little ones.

What I think wouldn't be a bad idea is if a model could have a minimum private time. For example I'd set it to 500 tokens, so the member is informed it's going to be 500 tokens and if he decides to drop out early it will charge, I think streamate has something similar so if your internet connection gets lost you have a certain amount of time to resume the private show. Obviously members might be worried that if they're not enjoying the show they can't drop out, or that the model might scam them and sit there filing her nails. Well if that were the case then all the shows are recorded anyway so you'd just contact mfcs.

I would take far more privates if I knew I was guaranteed a certain amount of tokens rather than having someone take me in one and then drop out as soon as I get naked/do some playing, completely fucking up my room count and probably pissing the hell out of me. Yes you'd get some girls with a minimum of 1000 tokens, but why not? If the member knows about it and agrees to it and that's how long she feels she needs to enjoy herself.

I feel like that could be tricky if something happened to MY internet connection. I would hate to feel like I ripped someone off.

I had the power go during a private once and he was really offended and tried to get his money back. I sent him a pic set to say I was sorry when the power came back. To be fair it cut out at the worse possible moment. He never took me for a private show ever again but I see his name pop up in my room from time to time.

Dude, you're still pissed because every time you hear "miniscule pixellation", you think you're being insulted.

It took three attempts once to get to the end of a private. MFC was being a total cock block that day.

Streamate's version, if the model ends it early, the bit that wasn't spent by the member gets refunded. So if her internet cuts out in the middle of a 500 token show, he'd get the 250 back. But they do this by not even charging the customer until after the show is done.

My cam shit the bed a few weeks ago so I had to use my built-in cam, and a surprising amount of people (i mean i know y'all are spoiled and can't get a boner w/o HD, but still) actually said "you're really pretty but I can't hang out because your cam sucks"

For me the big ones that propel me to hit "next model" are the sitting around looking bored or too much time in PMs, cause it's like being in public chat, I feel not cool enough for your attention. Also, sexy dancing is awesome, but if its all sexy dancing and no chit chat (even just a short funny comment between songs) I get a bit restless.

ALSO: Everyone has different taste in music. I think my music is the best in the world; I also know my stuff (hip hop and electronica) can be really off-putting to people. So I make a HUGE point of changing up the genre of music on pretty much a daily basis. If one day I'm jamming to my tunes, the next day I'll play some downtempo, the next day some 70s rock, the next day some jazz. It's super sexy when I watch a girl who's really into her music, but I literally can't listen to dubstep or country anymore. Even if it were the sexiest girl in the world, I'd hit "next model." The oldies get an incredible response, especially when I play one band or album at a time (the other night I played Blind Faith and tons of random people really responded to it). Also, no one who's nice enough to tip is gonna say "well I would chill with you and tip you but I can't stand to hear the music you like" (I've only heard it from guests or basics). It's something you only figure out is an issue once you make a change.

I think most camgirls I find this an issue with just need to keep it more neutral. Not that you should never play the music that you really respond to, just try a day with something more universally liked (pretty much everyone likes the Beatles, and other oldies) and see how people respond. There are definitely certain people who I've seen pop in my room, but never stick around unless I play X, Y or Z.

Lol a couple of times I've accidentally kicked my laptop off the bed right before I've come and it's closed and lost the connection.

lol if only tv shows were real you'd be able to click a button to 'enhance' and all the pixels would disappear

Know when to call it quits before you say or do something dumb.

I've been sick the last few days and while feeling better I'm still a bit spinny in my head and wobbly in my legs. I left much quicker today than I normally would have because tips weren't flowing easily and I don't have the energy to push, I would have ended up grouchy and no body likes grouchy.
Now I'm not saying run in the first 10 seconds, patience is key and I normally give it longer than I did today when I'm feeling well. What I'm saying is don't wait to log off until AFTER you get bitchy, do so when you feel it coming on. Things aren't always going to be awesome but this keeps a smile on your face and makes it much easier to try again later. :)

Just pressing the ban button and not changing it to a 60-day ban is an awesome warning tool!

If you have someone that you generally like, but they have this one habit that drives you crazy, give them a written warning. If they don't heed that warning, use the 6-hour ban, and an MFC mail saying "I asked you to stop ____, but you didn't seem to think I was serious. So you are banned for the next 6 hours. Next time, it'll be the 60-day ban."

If you're feeling nice, include an explanation about why that is not acceptable behavior. ("You calling out people for not tipping makes it less likely that anyone else will ever tip me." or some such.)
