Hi everyone.

I don't cam or know how to use OBS via the website but I was talking to a model I perv on often.
We got talking about using OBS for adding watermarks, using other plugins and what have you but she said that she has tried but can never see herself inside her browser window on the website - Chaturbate.

From what she said it seems like it streams fine IN OBS, but then when she goes into Chrome and connects/starts, it has a white page and saying "you're streaming" (not those exact words, but something to that effect).

I told her I would see if anyone here would know what she isn't doing or what's happening, as I truly have no idea what so ever.

Does anyone know what it could be? The stream works fine but doesn't go from OBS to the browser, which I am sure isn't mean to happen, right? Otherwise you got the chat window and OBS in two different places.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It will never go from OBS to the browser, when you use an external encoder you always see yourself there. Simply resize the two windows and place them side by side for a similar experience

I have done it before where it goes to the browser, I had to add some sort of key and login (to both the OBS - have my CB login details) and then connect onto the browser and it would stream. I remember helping a model who didn't speak too well English do it and it did it. Didn't work out for her as she could not understand OBS or computers lol. but I definitely did that.

Edit:
Because I can remember in order to grab your long key (can't remember what it's called without opening OBS) you had to right click the CB page of your room > source code, then somehow get the code from there.

Doesn't sound quite right, as Kitsune said, when you use encoder you own vid stream will be on encoder window not on browser, the browser should display information about the connection.

I think with long key you mean broadcast token? Not sure what you did with the rightclicking but normally on CB, you click "use external software" underneath your "start broadcasting" button and there you click "show RTMP/OBS broadcast information" to get token.

CB support's guide for setup does cover the basics

Would be interesting to find a way to have own vid stream on browser and not have to fiddle with multiple window but can't say i've heard or seen a way yet.

I can't remember now but this was back in about January or February 2017.
I think before the official OBS integration on CB but I remember in Inspect Mode you could delete the Header (i think??) which would remove obviously a lot of the css, it then shows the Token Key info etc and you could generate new token > add it to your OBS, activate in the browser and then it would work.

Maybe this was a bug and wasn't meant to be possible. I remember I found it via google but took me a while to find it.

I just tried it now and it wont generate a token now so i think it must have been a bug/error. But it definitely worked. I didn't realize it was a bug if it was not meant to.
It was the only way I could find how to get the key

You don't see your video in the browser when using OBS now. Where the video was, that's where you see all your streaming statistics. With the way you did it before, I can see how that would've worked though (since the video pane was still present). Now, you click "use external broadcaster" and the video goes away completely. I wonder if you still used your method instead of the "official" one, if it would still work. You can get the key by clicking "use external broadcaster, then click show RTMP/broadcast info (can't remember the exact wording). Even if it did work, I wouldn't recommend it though. I use a program to keep my OBS window on top of other windows and size it down so it's in roughly the same place the video was before. Since the window always stays on top, I don't have to resize the browser window.
