No kidding. This just blows ,y mind. Over farmville really fucking really. I have also heard about a chick beating her kid with a keyboard cause the kid interupted her game same game btw and got into her lipstick and it said I love you money on her bed sheets. That keyboard killed her kid. Poor kid. Makes me wanna puck those people for doing that to thier kid.

not that it excuses anything but farmville interruption was a trigger for pent-up rage or whatever, not that she was completely normal and coping fine with motherhood then suddenly snapped when she forgot to harvest a row.

I do wonder why there was no mention of her mental state after giving birth - the first thing I think of when a mother kills her newborn is possible postpartum depression. Shaking a baby to death is obviously not pre-meditated.

50 years...wow, not saying that's inappropriate but whatabout all the murderers and rapists etc who are out in 10? Are they really worse than this woman?

omg what the F*$# it seems everyday i hear something about a poor child being hurt. what has our world come too...
Sadly the world came to it long ago, we just hear more about everything because media outlets are free to report basically every minutae of life thanks to being able to instantly upload stories on the internet.

What gets me is a baby died, and the mother will spend the rest of her life in prison, yet I'm unsure whether the focus of the headline is in fact on the baby's death or farmville.

I'll step out a bit further and say some people shouldn't be allowed to breed....

I still think that there should be some sort of test or something to determine if you're even allowed to have sex. Like a driver's test.....

Yes I realize this would be nearly impossible to impliment, but the pros would be nice. :)

Definitely and I don't want them saying when I can't have sex. I just like the idea of getting tested before you can get the go to to breed, lol. Can't we just get the pros without the cons? :p

Plus a test wouldnt do much anyway. What would it be based on? Age? Intelligence? Financial situation? Marital Status? Older educated rich married people flip the fuck out to and do horrible things, really no knowing for sure who is going to be a fucking nutjob in that sort of situation

Thats what I was thinking, I think its kind of dumb that the focus was so much on the dumb game, I mean she had problems, game or no game it seems she was a ticking time bomb

Yes she was. Id she knew she had that postpartum depression, she should have sought out help.
Fuck I know I would have rushed to that doctor if I did not have my family watch over me while I took care of him and gave him baths. It may sound weird but I think I may still have post partum depression not as bad as it used to be oh fuck no not as bad and thank fucking god for that! But I still have bonding troubles so unlike this chick I am going to get this taken care of. I just do not get some of these people.

Farmville and many other social games are designed to interact with people and reward them AS IF THEY WERE DRUGS. Thanks to the rewarding system on constantly giving you little things and keeping the BIG reward right in front of you, your brain releases chemicals to reinforce it. Then when you get the big thing (and rush of chemicals) they give you a new big thing (that you learn to crave as getting it will give you the happy brain state).
So keep in mind, to some people farmville is legitimately a drug (or rather manipulating brain chemicals to use drugs you already have).
I'm not excusing what she did, BUT it does give a more correct and better understanding of why is was done instead of saying "a stupid game"

I've yelled at my cat for meowing while I'm playing wow

Actually I've yelled at him for meowing while doing pretty much anything I can think of.

I think the same could be said with any "continuous" or extremely long game.
