Anyone else seeing this? Please tell me Streamate is going to ban this shit.
They're just Vtubers. This isnt new.. cb has had this for a while. Not sure if it's new on streamate.

Why ban it though?

Not sure this is within streamate rules, since they do a facial scan before you can stream and you are only allowed to have yourself on cam and no pictures of anyone else, to make sure it is not you and not someone who isn't age verified on that account.
Idk how a 3D Avatar plays into that, i would actually be curious to know how the rules work with that.
In theory it could be anyone on cam?

that would be the main thing, anyone can be behind the screen & have anyone else in the room or behind the cam in view, but because they have a virtual screen/character NO ONE knows who's actually behind the screen. Not sure when the face verify part would come up, but dont think it does that often, or they would get away with it for a while. Doesnt feel right to have these for cam sites thou, should be real people, not anime. Just saying.
But whatever people wanna see will sell right. As long as they get there cut

Ok so here's how this works on Chaturbate.

The anime cammer has two rooms. One that is accessed by an admin of Chaturbate who verifies the person on cam in the admin only room is the verified broadcaster. The second room is the public room that everyone else can see.

It's totally legit and extremely expensive to perform like this so don't expect it to explode over night. If ever.

I get the interactive VR like ones I have seen, figured those were more advanced and as you say, monitored/watched by Admins.
I have seen a few that were more like game characters just standing there, with whoever talking, giggling whatever. Maybe I didn't stay long enough to notice it does more 🤷🏼🤷🏼😂
Not so advanced looking as the other VR interactive ones.

Still the same concept and set up. They just don't have the money for all the bells and whistles like ProjektMelody does.

Chaturbate has a VR interactive game but that's totally different.

Ah ok, just one I seen at first I thought they were playing a game full screen, not actually interactive character etc
Didn't stay as I'm into real people not animated.
No judgement, to each there own
They have to create an account and pay for a character and then they can interact together on the broadcaster's screen. It's kind of like Second Life but way more uninteresting (in my opinion).

When Melody first launched I thought CB's email server was going to fry with all of the complaints being lobbed at the staff.

I'll snag a screenshot and post it when I log in of where to find this game.

I'll never understand why people care so much about them, why would you want to prevent someone from making money 🤔
Fear of the unknown, fear of incels taking over porn sites and edging out real people in terms of earnings not necessarily the quantity of broadcasters, etc.

In this case a bit of bitterness and jealousy. Cartoon images earning on a site where the rest of the earners have had to actually put their physical self on display to earn.

It makes sense.

yes, I remember the anger and backlash when Abby Oddly started. She drew more viewers than any other animated cam since. I always thought of it as a novelty. Abby eventually left, but wow, what a shit storm when she started.
haha, I can still hear that bongo drum when she flashed her boobs. haha seems like yesterday

Do you mean ProjektMelody? She still cams, still has the most viewers when she does.

I really dont care. Pornography is subjective.
The word originates from a greek word that meant literature or art about prostitutes life. The way i see it video, drawn, or text. They are all different mediums. I do get why others feel differently.

People who normally watch hentai are probably not gonna regularly watch porn with people i think. Hentai was the most searched term last year on pornhub, again. Clearly there is a market for it.

But its interesting how they are allowed since everyone needs to be verified each time before we stream. Wonder if they are doing it before, then switching to their vtube extension on obs? Or they got special permission? Or is this streamate's doing? They would allow those premade recording streams for "marketing"

Was Abby the one who was 2D and she/it only did a couple of movements?
I think I can remember guys would tip "it" for "titty-quake" a lot because it was only of the few movements/animations it could do. But yeah I remember that one first coming on the scene, that blew up a lot and made everyone angry

Abby Oddly was the first. She was the creation of Camgirl Harper The Fox. Abby was short lived in 2018 on Chaturbate but I remember 16,000+ in her room
Harper still cams, she's transitioned to milf content.

On Chaturbate, the cammer has two rooms open. One for a CB admin to verify the correct human is on screen but no one else can see it and then the public room. Melody just did a cooking show with a friend of her's on Friday. It was kind of clunky but super creative.

This is pretty much how I feel about it, too.

I can understand why some people feel bitter about it, but at the same time I think you're absolutely right that most of the people who watch hentai or virtual/anime cam models aren't going to be watching and tipping real people if virtual cam models ceased to exist, so it's not like these virtual/anime cam models are "stealing" viewers or money. Like, there may be some crossover, but I don't think it's a ton of people.

Also, I don't know if it's ever been confirmed or not, but I remember when ProjektMelody first started streaming, I was about 85%-90% positive that the person behind Melody was a pretty popular cam model/content creator/cosplayer. Even if Melody is not who I'm pretty sure it is, from the way they interacted with people in the room in the beginning it was pretty clear that this person was more than likely in the industry for awhile. So, while I'm sure that there's random non-industry people who would or have already jumped on the 3d anime cam model bandwagon (I mean, one of them was here on this forum), I highly doubt that they would ever get successful like other anime cam models who are ran by someone who does have industry experience and knowledge.

I've seen this 😄 you can see the girl in the corner off the screen doing the actions (need to be in desktop mode on mobile to see) Very clever $$$$

Late to the thread but I just wanted to say, I find popping in to see her fascinating!! The girl doing the motions is tiny, down in the corner of the screen. It reminds me of those behind the scenes videos of people doing green screen/vfx stuff in films, you can tell she has to speak in a super animated fashion for her facial movements to show up on the vtuber's face.

the two room thing, that's kind of a neat trick.

If you look at project melody, I think they started off with vrchat, and a custom model.
They probably spent like 1.5-2 k on a gaming PC. And 1,138.97 on a vive and trackers. And I think they got the original model for a couple hundred. (not counting the later billing issue)

But if you compare it to CodeMiko...
She's running pro mocap with xsense and probably spent upwards of 13,000 on just the mocap, 1.5-2+ k on a pc, another 2k on face mocap, and on going licensing fees. Another 2k a year on maya, another 1k on adobe cloud. And she didn't really need to pay some one to make her avatar, but there probably lots of hours put into that, and unreal.
