Ellery Queen does 5 to 8 cents a word. Analog - 5 to 9 cents. And these are all professional magazines. Many Sci-Fi and Fantasy places only pay the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America pro rate which is 6 cents a word.

But when you get into the semi-pro publishers they pay less. Some only pay with copies of the published article so you can have it for your resume. When you get into the online only ones many there only pay a flat fee of very small amounts, in the $5 to $25 flat rate range.

If you're not interested that's fine but $100 isn't "laughably low". If you can crank out an awesome article for me in under an hour you just made $100/hr. I don't care how long it takes you to write as long as it's quality.

Also, you're not just paying for copy, you're paying for expertise.

I understand, of course, that there are systems and rates in place for paying/hiring writers, but I suppose that in this specific situation I feel that it is not the same as that. I also would say it's not the same as a short story.

The main thing about what he's asking is that it would take some research as well. Most models cam on a site or two but haven't explored all of the options. For the average model to write this article, they would likely have to do a bunch of research on other platforms in order to include them. Each model might be able to come up with some pros and cons of camming off the top of their head, but I think that even some research might come with that portion as well since it can be a rather broad subject.

Alexandra mentioned that this isn't just writing, but expertise, that the person would be paying for, and I think that is actually the main point. You're paying for more than writing, you're paying for the time of an expert on a subject.

If you come to a cam model for work, I think that you should pay cam model prices for it. If you want to hire a writer (who will likely have to put significant time into researching camming), then you can hire a writer and pay writer's prices. This is just my opinion.

Obviously if someone wants to take the offer and feels that it's worth it to them and proper compensation for their time, that's totally their own choice and business and I don't really think there's anything wrong with that. As camgirls, we have to place a dollar value on our work all of the time, and it's common for that range to be really different across the industry. Everyone has to do what's right for them.

If you end up hiring a notable and successful model, $100 is too little. Plenty for just a freelance writing job of that word count, but you're asking for much more than that. Hiring an experienced model to write for your site is extremely valuable to you. Having writers that actually have experience in the industry is priceless as it will make or break you.

ETA: Don't mean to be presumptuous, as I have no evidence against you, but I'd like to let you know that only giving away such basic info in private chat is a huge red flag. Some scammers do stuff like that so they can take advantage of unsuspecting models while protective models/members can't jump in and call out the scammer. Even if you're being true, you probably won't get much bite on your bait.

I'm a freelance writer and I deal with these affiliate marketing jackasses all the time.

They put "this is an easy job" in ads for writers because some other affiliate marketing jackass wrote in some book that it's a good way to drive rates down. Kind of like the 'negging' technique that those pick-up artist douchebags teach.

The bonus is also another little trick they're taught...supposedly it makes the writer work harder on the piece. Then, when the writer turns in the work, the client criticizes it and says it isn't good enough to deserve a bonus. The marketers also learn this from affiliate marketing books and websites.

Sadly, these techniques sometimes work, mostly on sites like elance.com where there are a bunch of amateurs and foreign writers desperate for work.

OP, just to put this in perspective, researching an article of this length to the level of detail you're asking would take at least a day, maybe more. That is, to do it right, not to just string together a bunch of vague sentences like you get at a content mill. So, basically, you're offering barely over minimum wage for professional work.

My clients pay me from $.40 to $1.00 per word, and that is pretty much standard professional freelance rates. Now, I can hear you sputtering because affiliate marketers typically pay around the $.01 to $.03 per word range, which is why you think your offer is so generous. But you get what you pay for, and in the case of affiliate marketers, what you usually get are barely literate morons.

Unfortunately, these jackasses tend to be barely literate themselves, which is why they have no concept of what goes into professional writing.

I wouldn't suggest any of you waste your time with this.

If I read that correctly, this guy wants to pay a model a flat non-negotiable rate to put their name and work into writing a fluff piece for him to pull in new models through HIS affiliate links?

Let's just look at CB, for example. Since this is directed towards models (and this is a direct quote from the CB website) "$50.00 will be paid for every registered user who has earned $20.00 broadcasting on Chaturbate.com." Given that this "contract" job that you are commissioning an actively working professional to do FOR you is using their name, reputation and credibility (which it doesn't appear you have, since you aren't writing it yourself... you are paying to leech off our perspective and experience, you're not looking for a monkey on a typewriter), you are literally leeching money off of everything this model has worked for since day one.

At bare minimum, there should be an income percentage cut in addition to the flat fee going to the model. Write 1500 words for $100, wow that's a great deal! Have your name and work taken advantage of since this guy can make as much money as he wants, ($50 at a time, no cut to you) by sitting on his ass and letting *your* words inspire new models to make HIM money? Yeah... think I'm gonna pass on that.


I really hope this guy is full of shit and no one got taken advantage of by this, this kind of exploitation makes me sick.
