Logitech Quickcam pro 9000 Specific tips

Improve the video frame rate if it is slow by clicking the "Webcam" tab and running off "Face Tracking." Then click the third "RightLight Settings" tab and disable "Use Automatic RightLight Settings. (This setting slows down the framerate!)

Turn off Auto Exposure (this make major a difference to the framerate!) or try manually adjusting it to the left

Improve the sound by clicking the "Audio Settings" tab. Then increase the volume and enable "Suppress Background Noise." If you are hearing an echo during web conversations, enable "Cancel Echo."

LOW LIGHT KILLS FRAMERATES!! (LAGGY VIDEO) this is true with pretty much ALL webcams

I would actually advise not using the "suppress background noise" option. We need our music and our little moans to be picked up by our mic, and having that feature turned on seems to turn the mic off if we aren't talking. (On a side note about music, try to avoid using your laptop speakers for your music, especially if your webcam is sitting on top of your screen. It sounds tinny and distorted. Try plugging in external speakers with volume and bass control and placing them a little further from your mic.)

The exposure setting is definitely a big deal. Seems a lot of girls turn the exposure way up instead of just buying a $10 lamp and adding light. It makes the frame rate awful (read: slideshow effect) and you will make less tokens, no doubt.

Also something he didn't mention above is auto focus. So many girls think that auto focus is a good feature. It's not. If you spend most of your time on camera about 1ft to 3/4ft from the camera, just set the focus low (I have mine set to 5) and leave it there. If you must show something up very close and need the detail to show, just turn on auto focus for that moment, then reset at 5 and un-check the auto box. The lens constantly adjusting for when you move around is extremely distracting and results in moments of complete blurry-ness. It's not good.

Webcams are not just plug-and-play... you need to take the time to tinker with the settings to find what looks best for you and your cam area. The better your settings, the better you look, and the more successful you will be.

Also don't forget to get the latest driver here

http://www.logitech.com/435/3056

click on download, choose operating system and then download

LOL I actually find the older driver to be easier to use, so we downgraded back to the previous version.

totally agree!

I hate 'hmm. Is my sound broken, or have I hit mute again'... then finding that it's actually the model has that switched on.

Even $20 external speakers will sound lots better than than internal ones.

Helloo Girls!! I have a problem...

Just bought a Logitech 9000 but it looks awfully blurry when I go to MFC...
The auto-focus/auto-lighting is off, I have the updates (the one for HD too) and it still sucks.. what could it be?

My resolution is on 720* optimized..

Something else I mght have forgot? A blurry might hurt a camgirl money a lot

ps: when I'm on the webcam program in the "quick capture" feature the image looks pretty good..

I only got my Logitech a little while ago. But it made a huge difference. I don't know much about using it yet so the advise on here is really helpful. Thanks for this thread :)
I find the autofocus is good for me, but I move around a lot. I don't think I'm capable of holding still for 5 minutes so I'm all over the place. I'll try finding a setting that works well for me instead though, a faster framerate is always good.
If anyone has more advise on the settings I should use it would really be appreciated.

I would love for someone to tell us what resolution to set our cam settings to to work best with MFC's HD? When I had the lifecam, I would set it to 720p and it would be pixelated, but when I set it to 640 it would work. So its the 640x one we should set them to?

I have a question for you ladies, actually about the microphone that is attached with the logitech 9000. Do you ladies use it or a separate mic?
Since I purchased mine, I occasionally have to blow into the microphone because apparently it sounds like someone is taking and I quote "a constant bong rip" according to some of the people in my room. It started off being described as popcorn or me constantly typing and I'm worried that the quality is deteriorating or perhaps it might have something to do with the webcam being in close proximity of my laptop fan. Any advice?

I was recently told by JJ thank you so much that this is caused by feedback from the computer, computer fan etc. and you should never place the cam on top of your laptop or computer. It fixed my prob right away and this had been an ongoing issue i was having for a very long time hope this helps!

Where is the suppress background noise option? I can't find it... :(
When I'm not speaking, it always says "Volume off" on the MFC software, and I hate that. I'd like people to be able to hear my music.

I hate when models leave that turned on. It makes the room feel empty and uninviting. Not fun at all.

That's in the flash settings on the model software, right underneath the video, and on the options button at the bottom of the web broadcaster. Look for the little microphone icon, click it, and you'll see the mic settings. Make sure "suppress background noise" box is NOT checked. You can also turn up the mic gain so that the music is picked up better, but ask your viewers if your voice is then too loud. I'd suggest turning your music up a tad in the back ground, so long as it's not running from your laptop speakers.

Does anyone know a way to turn the autofocus off on a mac with the c910? It's driving me crazy and I feel bad for the guys when I have to wait for the camera to focus.. Though, I'm loving my ability to show details to the cam right now, that always pissed me off when I was using the 9000 with the autofocus off.
