One other thing I had intended to say but forgot, which still might be relevant to others here because so many women in sex work have higher ed degrees and enter the field because of debt, is that another option when things get desperate or you just need a change, is to enter a non-profit or volunteer organization internationally in an area of your interest. International tutoring (particularly teaching English) was already mentioned, but one can also join the Peace Corps, environmental groups, organizations that help put in clean water or teach health care practices (including safe sex practice to prevent HIV spread), Habitat for Humanity or other housing for the poor, etc. etc. etc. In the US I know there is also a strong demand in various hard-to-staff, very urban or very rural areas, for teachers - all the more so if you already have a degree and teaching experience, in programs such as Teach For America. Non-profits such as these may be poorly run or sometimes do more harm than good in their region,so of course you want to research thoroughly beforehand to make sure it is a good fit and an organization with a good reputation. But they also can get you out of your own head, help you feel needed and useful again, help you engage with a community and actually try to solve problems. Most come with either steady pay and good benefits, or a low stipend but free housing and some medical care for emergencies. I guarantee you all will involve you having adventures, learning things about yourself, and meeting kind people who will be good for future networking, and bolstering your resume for future job options. Sometimes they will train you in an area you have no previous experience in, help pay off a portion of student loans, or pay for all or part of a new degree.
So while not perfect, getting yourself involved in non-profits in regions of high demand can take care of your emergency financial needs, often give you a roof over your head, and make you far less likely to be rejected because they need help so badly - especially if you apply to several at one time so you increase your chances. Many might take 1 in every 3 applicants, versus 1 in every 300 or something like that for for-profit companies.
For anyone reading this who is broke, and broken, considering suicide or intentionally getting on heroin because survival is much too hard... joining a non-profit and moving for a year or two to be of service in a hard-to-staff location might be a life-changing thing that would really give you purpose and direction again. But these jobs can be draining at first, so you MUST get yourself at least stable before applying, if you are highly suicidal, or drug addicted, etc. But you can often take your pick between climates, continents, countries, and to an extent fields... and in the US there is need I know in places as diverse as remote Hawaii, remote Alaska, central plains states, West Virginia, remote parts of Florida, as well as urban centers such as NYC, Chicago, and L.A. And of course, pretty much anywhere on Earth that is recovering from a major natural disaster.
In some cases, if you are not too burned out from your hours at your new job, and are in a location with internet and laws that make such work legal, you can also continue camming in your spare time, so you can have both a steady paycheck, and that extra income so you can save up for whatever your next step in life will be. BUT read your contract carefully - some will have some kind of morality clause that will mean you can't engage in sex work on the side, and can legally get fired if caught. Some won't have any such thing. If you wear a wig or other disguise, and block the area where you are working, you're less likely to get caught.
Volunteering or non-profit work is a way better choice than suicide at least, and can make the world a much better place.
