Tossing this note in here in case anyone has a similar thought: The pandemic months (mid 2020- late 2021) were some of the best income months for me personally. 2022 started a weird down trend, then the last few months have been worse than in many years.
Can totally relate, cam on three sites as well. And feel like we're wasting our time online

I'd imagine that the pandemic gave a lot more people free time to watch cams, but with the looming recession, assuming we're not in one already, a lot of people will be cutting down on non-essential spending.
It's really frustrating. When I am on for 2 hours I get impatient..and it feels like a 10 hour shift. It's been really dreading. What cam sites are you on?
I had the same experience. 2020 was decent, so was 2021. 2022 was mediocre for me and this year started out quiet disappointing.
I had a better march now looking back at concrete numbers compared to January and February though, hopefully things pick back up now.
During the pandemic a lot of users were watching and tipping while working from home. Now that WFH is being cut in many job sectors, I think a good percentage of users have gone away because of that.
At the height of the panic of the pandemic in June 2020, 150,000 new models joined the cam scene. It's saturated. More so than it has ever been with "regular celebrities" joining OF because it was safer than being on an actual porn site. You have to supplement wherever you can and cut costs where you can. Yes, you think you could buy 8 Starbucks a day, but maybe brew your own coffee at home and take it with you. That's an example, not an indictment to how we spend our money. It's responsible spending versus intake.
I don't buy starbucks or eat out lol...I am literally home 24/7. and now theres alot of less models who quit mfc. used to be 1600 now its 800 at a time. On other sites top models have told me it has been horrible for them hardly getting tipped.
2020 was one of my highest earning years and same with 2021. 2022 was fine until around September when things usually pick up after summer slump/when I don't work as many hours. I had 4 absolutely brutal months end of 2022 where I made half of what I normally do. Before COVID, it was normal to see only 2000-2500 models on at any given time on stripchat. Today, it was almost 9000 models on when I started camming this afternoon. It's crazy. So you have more models diluting the members tk. It's really hard to stand out unless you're already established with a strong following or you have a specific niche or you're ridiculously hot with a fantastic and bubbly personality.
Im on Cb and i also feeling it BUT! This month was the worst for me from over one year .Sometimes i used to having bad days but this month ,from 18th specially i had bad weeks,i was giving up and then I did big change-usually i was streaming on bed ,i thought i look nice but my room was just dead and only regulars were saving my ass. On last weekend i did 2000 tokens which for me is disaster and then i talked to family,friend and they said me to change something. I moved all my stuff to kitchen, made really nice light, started shift from showing all body and dancing arounf and bingo! Maybe i not do yet milions but instanlty something movd with people, with contest stats ,with followers and also tipers. Two random guy who i saw first time entered my room (wednesday after 40 minutes 3100 tokens from 1 person, thursday after 47minutes 2100 from another one) and that brought also new people to room. Then i sit againcuzwas satisfied and til the end of shift nothing;D I noticed one thing also in another rooms- must be action, no matter if u do naked show, coook or dance ,must be action ,all the time doing something ,evnwhen i talk intensively with somebody i see people starts coming. When i dance and somebody tip good i put my cam on floor to change ancle and again - they start coming, I noticed we CANT LETTHEM BE BORED even if we gave up. I dont know your room, maybe u do all that things .But i wasnt, i was burned out and gaved up ,but my family also regulars who i stay in contact with- they just talked to me , gave advices and from wednesday i earned more than in last 1,5 week including weekend. Dont give up- try to make BIG change, even if u think that what u do now is perfect. I was thinking that lying sexy on bed with body visible is cool and then i wear sexy lingerie and just dancing aroind from 1st minute and hmm -they prefer this. Yesterday was a little bit silent i did 1100 totally but i was satisfied from lasr days so i started my shift looking very cool with camera ancle,face ,make up and so on but was sitting and again i noticed quiet. We really must be just very very active and you will see results.
I was also trying MFC from this month but from 13 th i did maybe 100 tokens there so i gave up,but i never was regularly there, just was opening when cb was lazy,but on mfc i gave up totally
That's the funny thing we have three rooms in house that we stream from, last night was TV room. Slight improvement but not fireworks
Gotta say I'm surprised to see the title of this topic. Money for me skyrocketed during the pandemic, I wish it was that way now!
It does seem slow right now though, but in the past March hasn't been the best month for me either no matter what was going on in the world. Time for me to step it up and work more than one site at a time during this slowness plus turn on my phone at Niteflirt again.

And we didn't hold back with what we did
Don't understand what we're doing wrong, if I look at other models rooms they are actually making money.

Well it's their regulars. I have a regulars who tip me good. but the NEW randoms aren't really tipping. It's not you. It's just the economy.

The pandemic brought me into camming but I only started on Adultwork, took a long time for me to start with SM partly because I couldn't get my photographs accepted didn't know about the reps and didnt understand the forum i was pointed towards for information. I gave up and persevered with AW, only later coming back when another site I split with just died a death and AW had issues with a software change. In some ways that was a good thing, it meant I had some experience before launching but I do wish I had started sooner (a) with SM (b) camming and phone chat.
But it must have been a big shock, huge change when the lockdowns hit, all the newbies coming in including customers. I am also really grateful for all the experience and knowledge shared buy those who have been around a long time.
The cost of living has skyrocketed, so I would just get innovative and work on selling content on other sites. Maybe you already do that, but hopefully you have or are developing a side hustle outside of sex work to fall back on.
There's always someone who will pay you. We get to connect with people all over the world so our chances are still high! A great day will always make up for a slow one. This is just the entrepreneur life and the real currency is especially managing the lows. Visualize that money coming in, and if you only made so much, count your blessings. It's all about energy!
Also...know when you're done for the day because we know that for us a slow day still equals work, thus contributes to burnout. Burnout on a slow day is unheard of in most other jobs. It's not easy what we're doing!

There is a slowdown in many aspects of buying going on. Huge layoffs in companies like Amazon and McDonalds have a domino effect. While B2B cut marketing budgets, people cut on luxury expenses. Those who will stick around despite the recession will recover much faster than the others, including in cams I guess.
It also happens to me on and off that I don't go beyond 20 viewers and 100 tokens, for example for two days it seems that my profile is really dead today I barely reached 18 viewers. When and so I don't extend the live beyond two hours and I dedicate myself to something else.
I feel viewers don't really mean much to be honest. You can do so well and have very few people in your room. I seen some people have so many viewers and not get tipped. but I agree viewers has declined for me as well.
As a user, I see this. Sometimes the most active (tipping) rooms are the ones with the least viewers
Im on cb and mfc and I must say , til monday It was just great for me, in 10 days I did 60% of what i did during all march . I had mostly new tippers - very great ones like 2000 per tipper but also a lot of small tippers . I was feeling that my old good cb back, mfc also way better. But from tuesday im observing slowing down . With this slow down im observing also old good errors on cb like: trying to reconnect, yesterday night issue where i literally saw only banners and the rest was not visible, double leaving people notification and so on. But also on tuesday i noticed again more than 100 broadcasters online at one time. Im start thinking that site is not handle amounyt of broadcasters on;ine and begining of months til lets say 10-11 are better and then everybody working befor epayouts and system cant handle this. I meanthis is how i feel-i dont know how was april for now for others.
I'm joining. January to March was the weakest in recent years. In April, from the 1st to the 15th, things got a little better. On April 15, I bought a new and more powerful computer and a new camera. I had an older computer for 5 years. I can say that from April 15 until today, my earnings have improved on the Chaturbate site. So I hope it will be better that way. Sometimes I read here that people write here and see that models do not receive tokens. Many clients write to me and ask why I haven't met my Tip Goal in 4 hours. That they say I earn little. I constantly explain to them that I always have Privates and they don't see the earnings. There was also a lot of downtime on the Chaturbate site and it was driving me crazy, it was horrible this year. Since I got a new computer, Receiving Private has been without a problem and no outages. Maybe it really needed a new computer.
I dont show my earnings on cb anymore. I dont use lovense app which is showing tips to all, i dont have any main app, only bots also bot lovense lush levels so they see pattrns and levels but is not showing how much i earn. Why anybody should see that>? I have feeling is better for me like that, poeple dont see if its bad day or i can start with the show when im mood or i feel i should to make things better and nobody will tell me- she is fast because she didnt earn enough -i recommend!
