I can only deal with having to beg my parents for help with my rent so many times before I get desperate. I responded to a craigslist ad for webcam modelling and this guy who I guess is supposed to be an agent got me an account set up on Streamate, but not until I'd signed a contract stating, among other things, that I wouldn't quit without thirty days' notice, and I'm expected to work at least 20 hours a week as soon as my profile is activated.

It's now 24 hours after I digitally signed the contract and I'm soooooo scared. I've never done anything like this before, and I don't feel like I can tell my roommate, so I'll have to do this while he's sleeping or something.

This agent guy wants to meet me in person and give my earned money in cash form. If I stick with this, how do I avoid getting ripped off? Should I immediately kick him to the curb and try to do this solo instead? Do you have any tips for conquering my fears as a new model? Did anyone else try to hide their cam modelling from their roommate/significant other, and if so how did it go? How did you feel when you first got into modelling? Did anyone else get into it and then take a step back and go "woah, wtf was I thinking?"

>_<

Ok, I've emailed him telling I'm having second thoughts. Hopefully he just lets me off the hook, but since there was a contract involved I'm scared that I'm gonna be stuck with him for a whole month. :/

Yeah, I read the whole thing twice before doing anything with it. I'm an idiot, but I'm not that much of an idiot. :p

The Term of this Agreement shall be indefinite. Provided, that Streamates may terminate this Agreement with written notice to Performer for any reason whatsoever, including but not limited to breaches of this Agreement. Performer will have the right to terminate for any reason whatsoever with thirty (30) days written notice to Streamates. In case of termination, the Parties agree to remit any monies or services owed to the other within a reasonable period of time, and Performer agrees to cease any related activities, including but not limited to, accessing Streamates Performer web interface.

I'm just wondering whether or not it's too late since I haven't actually been approved yet. Guess I should probably contact Streamates directly, too.

If you're on your computer, at your place, what is your agent even supposed to be doing? I mean besides stealing your hard earned money.

A. Did he make a company called "Streamates"? Or is this Streamate?

B. If this is Streamate that you need to give notice to and not him, just contact Streamate and say that you signed with a studio (agent) and want to make your own account instead. They should be able to help you out. If not, check into MFC.

As for not telling your significant other, well, how does s/he like lying? They make be 100% against you doing this job, but if so and then they find out that you lied to them and hid it too, that just makes it far worse. I would suggest being honest. You may also be able to sign up for the Models Only section, I'd check that out b/c there is a lot of info/threads about this very issue.

(Btw, I don't mean to sound harsh :) Just trying to pt out that he will be for or against this job and lying will only make it worse!)

Woah woah woah!

#1 if you're in Arizona and his name is Tap RUN AWAY!!!!
#2 You can sign up for Streamate and get daily pay WITHOUT HIM, I got caught up in some douche bag's "contract" with Streamate, and you need to not be there.

Contact Streamate, tell them you would like your account deleted. Then get a MFC account and work there for a few weeks. Then sign up from Streamate dailypay.

GET THAT ACCOUNT REMOVED IMMEDIATELY!

Ditch the "agent". Seriously.

Even if you signed a contract, he'd have to take you to court to try to enforce it, and I somehow doubt it would ever make it that far. There's no reason to give some guy a % of your money when he's not actually doing anything to help you.

I am also registered on streamate but i found that each cam site has its rules and set amount they give the girls. I have found MFC to be the best payout so far.

I don't do the greatest but I do it on my own I don't need an agent. If I need help or have questions i just ask the other girls.

If you feel you won't be paid by this agent then your probably right. Gut feeling is the best indication. Most sites are user friendly. So give this guy his 30 days now and in the mean time find a site you like and sign up.

yes please sign up under your own personal account you do not need a agent to be a webcam model. and another thing i find the fact that he wants to meet you in person to give you your money really scary. this reeks of rip off to me. you should get to keep every cent you make.

This idea makes zero sense. Does he now have your personal information? Could that have been the goal on his end? Don't meet him to get your $. This is the kind of stuff that gets women into dangerous situations.

I've given him the thirty days notice -- I know I probably can get out of it by just bailing, but I really don't want to risk the legal possibilities, even if they're remote. Best part of the contract is I'm only obligated to do as much as I feel "comfortable" doing, so if I just wanna sit around fully clothed or whatever there's nothing he can do to stop me, even if I never make a cent out of it. I might do that for the month. <_< Besides, how can he scam me out of money if I don't make him anything?

That leads to the possibility I don't pay my rent this month though. I guess I'll have to cross that bridge when I get to it.

If/when I meet him I will be going with a bulky male friend in tow who I've already told about this and doesn't have a problem playing bodyguard. (This same friend then offered to drive me to as many places as I need to help me get a vanilla job. Awww.)

I'm not in Arizona and his name isn't Tap, but thanks for the warning.

I will probably tell my roommate/SO if I decide to actually do anything sexual. Otherwise, it's really none of their business.

Thanks for the support/advice, all.

Personally, I'd never cam without my SO knowing completely and totally. I'm a very honest person, and I feel that anything involving me and flirty behavior, possible nudity, what-have-you, is part of his life too. Before I signed up as a camgirl, I had a long talk with my man about our financial situation, and about camming as a potential job. I've been with him for years, so there is no way in hell I'd be camming without his consent. Even now, if he said "Hey, stop camming" I'd do it in a heartbeat simply out of love and loyalty. In a heartbeat. But, he was alright with it, and the rest is history. :)

If you're concerned about rent and still getting past this guy without breaking contract, I suggest you sign up for MFC. Work on streammate for the hours you absolutely MUST do legally, and then hop on MFC and just be you! trust me when I say you don't need an agent. You just need a webcam and confidence. Being new on MFC garners you some extra room traffic, and you should definitely begin earning enough to make rent soon enough, without any fear of having to go through any of that agent crap.

Good luck, and welcome to the exciting world of camming. Tis fun stuff, I assure you. :-D :h:

I hope you contacted Streamate to inform them, the 30 day clause is with them, in the Streamate performer agreement.

I wondered if this was something like this: Now Hiring All Types For Erotic Live Chat - $1,500/week (Atlanta), which leads to this "(Housing provided within Metro Atlanta - Optional)" , which contracts models to these terms and conditions.

...Money Talks Studios will pay You Your share of those internet transactions as long as you meet the minimum pay out requirements. Performer can earn 35% of all collected revenues by providing private shows. Only in the event that a Performer has ever previously signed up with webcam sites affiliated with Leandra Enterprises Inc. they will instead receive 10% of all collected revenue. There is a 30-day delay in payments (example: what you earn for 10/15/10 – 10/31/10 will be paid out on 11/28/30). Payments are processed every two weeks by the 13th and 28th of each month. There is a minimum $250 payout. All new performers must meet the mandatory minimum payout of $250 within their 1st two pay periods (approx. 30 days) or their account is subject to suspension/termination and all monies earned will go towards Admin fees.

The sign up forms there describe the hours selected as *mandatory*, although there's no reference to that in the full terms and conditions. Perhaps it's something they wave around when disputes arise.

I don't know why you'd even consider doing the 30 days.

I'd suggest you don't work that account for a single minute unless Streamate confirm it's not linked to this 'agent'/studio.

The only reasons to even log on would be to deal directly with Streamate and to eventually delete your personal details before closing it, unless Streamate confirm it's your own account and the agent/studio has no access to it or claim on any earnings.

You almost certainly won't get paid for any work you do if you're in the process of terminating the agreement. There's probably a clause like the one above allowing them to keep all revenues below a certain threshold, i.e. models who realise they're being ripped-off shortly after starting work lose 100%. [That threshold may be a crude indicator of actual earnings expectations for most performers they sign up.]

You'd be better off spending the time making sure your status with Streamate is resolved, checking out other sites and making arrangements with them. The rent.

*Playing* bodyguard will all he'll be doing. He sounds like he'd offer to do almost anything for you, but don't ask him to put himself in that position. I don't see any reason why you'd need to meet the agent/studio anyway.

What sort of performer to intend to be? Probably.

I contacted Steamates directly and they cancelled my account. I'm mostly just waiting around now to see if the agent contacts me about it, but I think I'm off the hook.

I'll check out MFC if I haven't heard anything in a week, and in the meantime I'll talk to my SO and roommate and see if this is something I want to pursue.
