Im basically ready to stream...except I seem to be stuck on step 1...my F*ing name...

So I thought about camming for ages. I finally made the choice. I did a metric ass ton of research. I saved up some money and borrowed some more and got everything I need...lights, camera, everything to make a good looking set, the works....

Im pretty much ready to stream, just as soon as I get my twitter/snapchat/tumblr running...

Except I cant decide on a fucking name...

So I had planned on using Alexis, it feels a bit poetic since it was the first name I considered when I was changing my name, and Grey is the last name of the main character in the book ive been writing for about a million years. I would go by Lexi probably and I kind of feel like Lexi Grey has a nice ring to it, and its also simple. I feel like its simple enough to remember, but it may not be very memorable. ive gotten mixed opinions from people about it though, and while no one ive asked HATES it, no one has been wowed by it either...and its about the one thing about this whole process that I really cant change once its done and the more I think about it the more uncertain I get.

I really want to make sure that I get this part right. So...honest opinions? I want to know what people really think about it. I like it but that doesnt mean anybody else really will. So please be honest with me, I cant really take this back once I make the choice...

Lexi Grey sounds lovely. You can always rebrand yourself if you decide you don't like it in the future. We all know cammodels who have been three different names during their camming period.

Well unless you already planning to serve a specific niche or fetish a general name works. Lexigray doesn't sound bad but some names will associate with some pornstars in the minds of members. I hear Lexigrey and I think about Sasha Grey the former pornstar.

Lexi Grey sounds great but I'm not really sure about "grey" since there are a lot of well known models and porn stars with that name but If you feel comfortable enough you should use it no matter what. Also you might have in consideration that if you want to be part of a niche or there's something very specific about you that u want to be remembered for... U should include a hint of it in your name, or not. Don't be afraid to change it once you have started, I did it xD and I haven't had problems at all (buuuut depends on the site you are working on cause as far as I know many won't allow you to change it)

So to answer a few questions, I will be on CB. I wouldnt necessarily say that Im catering to a fetish community per se, I am a sub and active in the BDSM community and do want to incorporate some of that into my shows but I dont want it to be a "BDSM Show". I wont be dressing in all latex with a latex hood and gas mask or anything like that, I just may keep my paddle and trusty handcuffs in easy reach . (And maybe later make some harder BDSM videos to sell because im pretty sure if I did something which looked like something I normally do I would get banned pretty quick...). I guess I wasnt really aware that Grey was a particularly common name in the modeling/porn world. For my own name, Im not a huge fan of the "Firstname Sexyword" theme, I think it works great for other people I just dont know if it feels like me. But maybe something that kind of sounds like a last name but is still a nice word could work (idk, Jade was the first thing that came to mind, just as an example, I dont think I would use it).

So maybe I need to reconsider the last name...not really sure what else to use...

Greys are what the basic account holders are commonly called on CB, so I imagine that is what @dod_404 is alluding to. Not sure if I agree with that reasoning to not use the name, but I'm not particularly familiar with CB's current site culture either.

Lexie Grey is the name of the sister on Grey’s Anatomy (and one of the major characters for a few seasons), so there’s that...

However, if you’re totally set on it, then go for it. I went through three other names (not counting the joke names I used every now and again) before finally settling on my current name and it did not affect my income or anything like that when I made the changes. I just gave my regs a heads up. I know on MFC it’s super easy to change your name and people who bookmark/friend you are still able to find you easily, though I’m unsure if the same is true on CB.

I had already read your thread concerned about CBs “no pain” rule and you talked about doing sub/dom shows. So as soon as I read your initial post on this one, “Grey” automatically made me think about “50 Shades of Grey”. And while I like your 2 name choices together, that’s just where my mind went. And if you do go with that, on CB expect a lot of questions and references to the books/movies. So given your potential show style, you’ll just need to decide if you want to possibly have that connection or word association.

That’s just my observation, which won’t be everyone’s.
