I don't necessarily believe that any of these places are "haunted", but never the less I still find them fascinating.
Please add to the list if you know of any places like these... I'm always looking for more.
The Devil's Tree (I just learned about this one this morning)
A serial killer molested, murdered two teenage girls, and then hung them from the oak tree. The psycho-killer then buried his two victims in a shallow grave beneath the oak. The serial killer was Gerard John Schaefer, who, according to various news sources, was an ex-policeman in Broward County, Florida. Though convicted of the two murders, he is believed to be responsible for at least thirty more. A creepy and sadistic man by nature, Schaefer would lure young women off the roads with the help of his badge to rape, torture, mutilate and murder.
Some witnesses claim that the women’s rest room at Oak Hammock Park is haunted by the dead girls. Strange, horrifying screams have been heard coming out of the restrooms, in addition to the doors slamming without provocation. Cold drafts also linger in certain areas of the park, a sign of satanic infestation. In 1993, two boys were chased through the woods by mysterious hooded figures, who disappeared by the time the boys reached the main road. In fact, there were so many reports about paranormal activity going on around the Devil’s Tree that in 1992, a priest performed an exorcism and placed a cross at the base of the oak.
The Overtoun Bridge
The Overtoun Bridge is an arch bridge located near Milton, Dumbarton, Scotland, which was built in 1859. It has become famous for the number of unexplained instances in which dogs have, apparently, committed suicide by leaping off it. The incidents were first recorded around the 1950′s or 1960′s, when it was noticed that dogs – usually the long-nosed variety, like Collies – would suddenly and unexpectedly leap off the bridge and fall fifty feet, to their deaths. In some cases, however, the dogs would survive, recuperate, and then leap off the bridge again. What makes this tragic mystery even more mysterious is that many of the dogs that jump from Overton Bridge jump from the same side and from almost the same spot: between the final two parapets on the right-hand side of the bridge.
