I saw an interview with Maisie Williams, the actress who plays Arya, and she says Jack, the actor who plays Joffrey is actually a really great guy. I think thats awesome that he's able to portray Joffrey in the manner he is and its not really just him being himself. If he's that great an actor then I hope to see him in more things in the future. Hope he doesnt end up getting typecast.

Yeah HBO doesnt flinch when it comes to their shows start dates. Oh its going to be a long 10 months! Guess I'll spend it re-reading the books.

I've been staggering Books/seasons of the show. So I've started on A Storm of Swords today. I'm hoping to have it finished before next season starts (I'm terrible about misplacing books, or sitting down to read and getting distracted by...things).
The "Queen of Thorns" seems awesome.

So no one had an issue with the "zombie horde" at the end? really?

And before you even jump my shit I heard ALL about how they aren't zombies...and after 5 mins I put my hand up and said "I can pull up a couple scenes from The Walking Dead where it was almost the exact same shuffling along of animated dead shit. So they might not be zombies like we know them but that is what was presented" Of the 5 people there, 2 had read the books and 2 of us hadn't but had seen GoT so I looked at the other person and tell me I'm not speaking the true? And he said yeah that is how they were presented. To which the other people that had read the books went "Booo cause its much better in the books." The guy on the horse looked cool, the horse looked AWESOME and his sword was all icy blue glowy which was great. And I liked how the horde was made up of different "tribes" of people.

I liked less sex in this season. It was WAY to predictable the first season. Oh 18 mins in...time for a sex scene. It was like clock work. Speaking of sex, most TV and movies have trained us to expect large breasts when a woman opens her blouse or whatever and it was nice to see just natural beautiful women. Even tho I don't want to see cocks on screen, I do like that the makers of GoT put the full monty out there. Since they have no issue with stripping a woman naked in a heartbeat. That sounded a lot gayer in my head lol.

I can't read the books because if I do I will read them all, its how I am, if its avail I must read it!! And I have a strict rule now - If I haven't read the book before a movie or show of it, I will not read it. If I have read the book before then I will leave my expectations from the book at the door. 99% of the time the book will be better. The 1%, I read LoTRs after the movie releases and the movies were SOOO much better lol.

What issue should I have with the snow zombies or whatever we want to call these people, again? I am just enjoying the fact that the many examples of magic and fantasy, where as in the first season things were only mentioned up until dragons came to be. I was afraid of that being how the show was going to be, something like Troy where it tells the story of the trojan war but the gods weren't anything but mentioned.

My favorite part of the finale was everything in Qarth and the house of the undying. Though my friend and I have yet to learn the black guys actual name and will only refer to him as "Soy Soy Ducksauce".

It felt like everything else in the finale was all leading into season 3 more than any stories coming to an end.

I just asked if anyone did. You didn't. I did, its been played out and they could have done it better.

There's one other show on tv with zombies so I don't know how it's played out. And this show has like seven different story lines going on none of them involving zombies so it will only be a minor part of season three.

The wights or zombies come straight out of the books, which were written several years ago. Long before the "zombies are coo" thing thats been going on for the past couple years.

The wrights are in the books, we actually encountered some in the very first episode of the show as well. They are some spooky dudes. For one, they are dead. And two, it looks like they retain some of their life-ly (totally a word) knowledge. Why else would the ranger wright go after Mormont (01.08 "The pointy end")? Why not just run about killing people?
We also hear about the Whitewalkers and their army of the undead from Nan. So we know that the Others are spooky pale dudes for have a penchant for dead things, and making things dead.
Maybe they hate warmth/life?

That would fit with Melisandre's notion that the Others/White Walkers are somehow connected to the Red God's nemesis. I think thats a pretty good theory. I'm just wondering if they'll really be able to stop the Others or at least keep them contained north of the wall.

I think the wall has to fall, and winter cover the land. All the lands are fighting, the wall is unorganized, and nobody believes in the Walkers anymore. Plus summer has to end at some point to end the current cycle and begin a new one.

I don't have HBO so I'd waited till this season was over to download the whole thing and watch them. I started watching them last week but finished up most of the season yesterday. I've been reading the books (finally?) and finished a Clash of Kings before watching Season 2 where as I had watched Season 1 before started on a Game of Thrones. I'm about 40% of the way through a Storm of Swords at this point so I'll likely finish it and the rest of the books in the series before Season 3 comes out.

The shambling of the wights paralleling a zombie style does seem to fit well with the idea of them from the book. The Others (or White Walkers) themselves should prove to be a bit more graceful and less zombie-like than the wights they are surrounded by. I don't know why any of them should be a problem. In the book they are rather clearly defined (for beings of which little is known/remembered) and the series has done a rather sound job of recreating them based on what the book as provided so far.

At this point in everything I am enjoying the books quite a bit and the extra details and information from them has helped with watching the series. The series has diverged from the books quite significantly often combining things in such a way that a lot of the "then this happened" from the books to the shows is quite different. It's been interesting to see how they've taken these diversions from the original and massaged them to lead us mostly to the same conclusions for many key elements and events as the books.

Oh well. I must be careful not to ramble on much more here or I'll start including things from what I've read so far of the 3rd book.

i'll say this for the series, it's doing somewhat good at keeping the main storyline intact (with the exception of Dany but her story doesn't really get going til later)
the subplots and minor characters are diverging off the books quite a bit in the second season
I'm not sure I'll be watching season 3 and beyond... or I might if i'm really bored.

I'm on the very second episode. I wasn't really moved either way on the first one, but decided to give it another try and watch the second episode. It's better, but still seems to be ridiculously overhyped so far. But, maybe it gets better. Or maybe it's like every other book/movie/show/otherwise that gets way more recognition than it really deserves and turns people into silly screaming fangirls/fanboys.

The first episode I was on the fence, and then I saw a kid get pushed out the window and was sold. But to judge it on the very first episode and say this is over hyped drivel is a bit rash.

Having literally JUST finished book 3, I reckon season 3 has a lot of potential. I was straight up angry at one point because of how the story was going. I reckon it's a good sign when a story gets you that involved.

You'll just have to read the books if you really want to know!

Nobody knows what path the TV show is going to take. It may veer away from the books.

Most of the differences in the series from the books are to make things more concise. People sometimes die different ways or are never even introduced because their presence isn't necessary for the overall story but the overall conclusions leave the story in a very similar place. Certain acts become attributed to different people but again it doesn't mess with the primary characters getting to the same state as they were in for the books. The experiences along the way that need to be there are mostly untouched. I could divulge an answer to her question and feel quite confident that it would be accurate once the 3rd season gets going but I'll pass.

As for you, Crumb, I fear you've said far too much already.
