Apparently comparing a foreign persons english... to another foreign persons english... and incidentally a person with reye's syndrome (who are apparently all bullshit people) defines me as a perfect example of a racist.... I think someone still needs to go back to the English dictionary and work out what that word means...

And FYI, if a language isn't your native language and you're clearly struggling with it, try not to use loads of slang... it makes it even harder to understand. I'm not sure if it's just me... but wasn't he like being prejudiced against Romanians a few posts ago....? You know... before he called me a racist...?

To be fair to this guy, it's pretty clear from his posts that English is not his native language. I honestly think he's been trying to fit in, but the language barrier keeps getting in the way. After two days of being generally misunderstood getting shit on by everyone here, he' just snapped. He doesn't seem malicious to me -- at least he was trying to participate and fit in, which is more than can be said for most of the newbies that stumble across this forum. Poor English got in the way, though, and it made a bad first impression, and so maybe folks around here should have cut him a little slack.

English is an ambiguous enough language that even the most skilled native speaker can mean something, say it a certain way, and have it completely misunderstood. I took it to be a legitimate question, not a misogynistic judgement: Why do so many Romanian women become cam models, and aren't doing work that is generally seen as more respectable? If he had asked it like that, would you think he's being a patriarchal meany? I doubt it.

Also, language barriers come hand-in-hand with cultural differences. Not seeing sex work as a respectable job is true for most of the cultures I've run across, but some cultures value diplomacy and some value blunt speech. We don't know where he's from. We just know he's not from 'round these parts. Referring to white collar work as more respectable than cam modeling isn't exactly a bombshell, is it? If he had come in referring to models as whores, or telling us all about how dirty and dishonest he thinks models are, then I could be convinced. But he didn't do that. He told one stupid story, and it colored everyone else's expectations of him, to the point where people are actively interpreting his posts as automatically bad.

In the Uk, the US and certain other countries there is a big feminist movement, and women are seen as equal, even though there is still a fair amount of sexism that goes on, and we're still not completely equal yet. Judging from his posts, although he doesn't seem to be someone who hates women, he seems to be of a very different attitude to one that most of the guys from ACF are... This is probably cultural. As he claimed the race card I'd put a guess that he's from somewhere around the middle east... If he were european I would hope he'd know more about Romania, and you wouldn't really call european a "race". This is a generalisation on my part, as much as the one towards Romanian cam models, but the use of the English language is very similar to all of my friends from various parts of the middle east, some who speak perfect english... a few who speak very poor English.
None of my foreign friends have ever been insulting by language slips (except the one who took a liking to the word "cunt"...), and lack of knowledge of the language, so I don't think that's to blame. His English is clearly perfectly good, it's not a lack of knowledge of the language that's even the problem, it's sheer laziness and trying to use slang and bad grammar that's the problem, and then writing unthought out sentences that don't make sense. First language or not, the writing is ridiculously inconsistent and sometimes just doesn't make sense, when at other times it's perfect. It's almost like it's intentionally bad and hard to understand. Like I said, I can understand all of my foreign friends when they try and communicate, I know many people who are dyslexic etc who write a lot of jumbled up stuff and can put the words together and work it out... this dude... I really can only grasp at straws in what he's trying to get at in most of his posts.

I think you are a bit harsh on him, I am not defending him or anything but even with a perfectly good English, it can still be misinterpreted by some. Grasp at straws? That's a little too much.
I know from my own experience foreign people who talk English better than native ones. Just my opinion ..

I have no doubt that he intended to mean that camming is not a respectful job. I seriously doubt he analyzed his words to such an extent where it could be mitigated to this degree, and for that matter, why is a "white collar job" more respectful than camming? Professional spammers may very well work in a "white collar" environment.

Can we at least agree that it was a really dumb thing to say?
