some folks on some site called me gipsy when I told them I'm Romanian (I'm cheesy white for f's sake). This is the reason sooo many European countries are banned from my room.

It is wrong to judge someone by its origin, but look around. There are so many Romanian models, being so many you can have the unluck to be scammed by one, or a chance to get free goodies, cheaper shows or really fucked up ones, boring girls, interesting girls, beautiful girls, ugly girls (yes, we have ugly girls here too dayum). When a member has the unluck to come across a Romanian scam model, of course he might generalize about Romanians more further on. I guess those scam/cheap/beggar models and also what happens in real life annoys me more than what members say about us. Why? Because after all, you have the possibility to let him know who you are before telling the origins and their thought about it (if there was one) might change.
Those are far and few, I have seen many Romanian's on cam and in person, the women are gorgeous and the men range from pretty boys to the rugged swarthy type and all points in between. Those that judge the Romanians without getting to know them are losing out on some amazing people. Their customs may not be the same as ours but I have yet to meet one that did the blood rituals of Vlad the impaler...okay, that was a stretch but my ex used to joke about that from time to time. They have a rich history with a LOT of changes in the last 75 years that unless you have a relationship with someone from that area, you would not know about. There is corruption there just like everywhere but the "Gypsies" have given the Roma people a bad name. I have had a strong feeling for the Romanian's and their accents for many years and will continue on for many more.

I will say, though, anyone with a vampire fetish should definitely find a pretty Romanian model and pay her to turn down the lights and say "blood." It'll change your world. ;)

cool. we don't have PMS, we eat blood with our pussies once a month. (no, don't mind me....)

There's a lot of Central and Eastern European history we in the West have no clue about. I've had almost no contact with Gypsies since leaving Germany and not much then, so I can't relate to this whole Gypsy thing. It's like Russian girls unhappily expressing surprise when they learn we can't tell them from Ukrainians. Not only was the Ukraine practically colonized by Russians, resulting in a lot of mixed blood, but I've seen so many different-looking Russians, I can barely tell them from any other European.

Right on the money!! I have been learning a ton just trying to trace my ancestry. And the more I learn the less I find out I know. It gives me a big headache.

My family still can't believe that we are Hungarian. They thought Austrian meant we would be part German. I would not have guessed it either but a number of family members listed themselves as Hungarian when they came to the US in the late 1800s. The family names go back a number of generations in a very small town about 5 miles from the current boarder of Hungary. The Polish side is much the same as part of my family is from Białystok and also spoke Russian. Often they are listed as coming from Poland, Russia in the archive documents.

I recently found a possible link to Romania. Not sure it is a relative yet but it wouldn't surprise me either. It would be from one of my great grandmother's whose family I know nothing about so far. I thought of this thread when I was going over the documents last week.

I wonder how much media plays into that sort of thinking. Being a historian, when you mention your history and the link to Hungarian ancestry, my first thought was, "of course that makes sense, since the Austro-Hungarian Empire was in full power in the late 1800's." Just based on the geography, I tend to associate it far more with Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary than I do with Germany, especially since the Alps fill the space in Austria that borders Germany. As silly as it sounds, the only thing that really links Austria to Germany, in my mind, is The Sound of Music. Since it's something I watch every year during the holidays, it's the most readily apparent depiction of the Nazi occupation of Central Europe, and the first taste I can recall having of the European political realm of the early 20th century. Obviously, the 20th century is going to be the freshest segment of history in our minds, but it was also the most recorded and thus the most depicted in popular culture. When you have that much documentation, it's bound to color the common understanding of the history that came before it, if not totally overshadow it. And so, when we think Austria, we automatically think "Germany" instead of "Hungary" and also we think, "the hills are alive with the sound of music."

I think German being the 1st language spoken in Austria probably plays a small part.... Though I'm sure the Sound of Music plays a much bigger part....
I'd say language plays a huge part. More so than culture or religion even, although that's another link...at least with southern Germany.

I think that is also a big part of it plus it does boarder Germany. My family just happens to be from a tiny town called Andau which is basically on the opposite side of Austria. And as I mentioned in a previous thread the US public schools during my era did not teach much world history in this regard so I knew very little. I will admit that it has been fun learning about this stuff and I won't be shocked at all if I do find out that I also have Romanian ancestors.
:thumbleft:

I will say that up to now I don't think I ever actually knew anyone that was Hungarian so that's kind of cool too.

My best friend when I was a teenager was Hungarian, I don't know loads, but I know a fair bit of random stuff about their culture. As far as I could tell from her... they don't like Slovaks because of old feuds about borders, they don't like Germans because they go on holidays there and apparently get drunk and make a mess, they don't like Gypsies... lol but they like the Danish? Or something like that lol They seemed to not like a fair amount of countries close by to them, though I got the feeling it was kind of like England and France supposedly not liking each other, when no one actually really thinks about it.
Apparently a Romanian Gypsy boy about her age tried to mug her in an alley when she was about 17/18, she pulled her phone out (which was a very shit phone), he went "errr.... no thanks... it's ok." She proceeded to have a go at him for insulting her phone and they ended up hanging out. From what she said I think there was a Gypsy problem in Budapest, though I don't think she had anything against actual Romanians.

Also, Hitler was Austrian, as all my German friends are quick to point out.

:woops: Totally forgot about the language thing. That is definitely a strong connection.

Most Germans have a strong feeling of kinship with Austrians, and vice versa, largely because of the language. It made the Anschluss pretty much inevitable. The connection with Hungary may be historically important, and Austria was a major transit point for Hungarians fleeing the Communists, but Hungary has a very distinct cultural identity from Austria.

Hungarians inside Romania have something against us. Go to a store in the West of Romania and ask for something in Romanian.... some people got beaten to death because of that.

I can imagine... Although my friend wasn't actually racist, there was definitely some real issues with other countries surrounding Hungary. She actually had a particular interest in racism which I think stemmed from being part Jewish and having a Grandmother who survived Auschwitz, so I did hear a lot of things about the histories between the countries. Personally it's not something I'll ever get, but for her it was a very real thing.

Funnily enough one of my other best friends is Austrian, it's funny the Sound of Music was brought up because she hated that film for it's historical inaccuracy.

Why are many romanian girls pursue cam site as a mean to make bread earnings..and get blamed for scamming and bla bla..is there no alternate options for earning for them???? I mean which is more respectful..like white collar jobs

yeaaaaah, we should just disappear from cam world, leave everything behind and struggle with 150-200 euros in Romania. That if you even get them :))

Most have debts, most have families, most are students, most just can't get another job, most we're tricked in jobs they had. What would you chose?

It's the easiest way to earn some decent money that help us have a living.. Everyone struggles because there are no job offers except merchandisers and in the garament industry mostly. And you can't call a paycheck what you get from those. Many leave for other countries as well, Italy, Spain, UK and so on and send money back to Romania.
For those who finish a University and want to get hired it's a big problem. And employers don't usually want to hire them as they have to offer a bigger payment.
I know cases when girls had the knowldge and ability to get hired on a position but they were asked to pay for that to secure it. You can only get hired if you have an uncle or an aunt or someone in the specific domain that can get you in. It's realy a long long discussion about it.
And there you go, that is why all we girls choose to become cam girls. To try and make something for ourselves and for our gloom futures lol :p

Oh, and white collar jobs.. You have got to be kidding right? haha

just for information... whats the Avg earn required for comfortable life in your country?

It depends form person to person, what personal expenses they have.. but to have a decent living and affording to pay bills and rent, it adds up to probably about 1000$ per month.. and our minimum wage now is around 300$. Let's say maybe 500$ for someone with a master degree, if they get lucky enough to get hired somewhere.

Is that just in Bucharest? I mean cost of living should be lower elsewhere, but then jobs will be even harder to find.

I am not from Bucharest so I wouldn't know exactly how things are over there.. But I haven't heard of too many happy people over there either and considering the fact that they have the biggest studios, I am guessing it's not too great..
I live in the northern part of the country where it's actually a bit worse.. and well, cost of living isn't that low.. especially with all the crap on the market nowadays.. A healthy live costs even more.

a decent rent is even more expensive in Iasi than in Bucharest.
