Yesterday I was watching something on YouTube and they ordered an "Oblea". Basically two big circular sweet wafers with filling. The fillings were Arequipe (like caramel), whipped cream, a blackberry Jam type preserve and (you guessed it) a thick handful of grated cheese.
Yes a yummy sweet snack - two big wafers with dark caramel in between.

Yes that's correct that's the first thing that comes to mind

The food really isn't that good in colombia, to me the only thing worth coming to Colombia for are the people. Everything else there's better places for.

Edit: I forgot about these, I do love these things when I'm in Medellin:

I get them at a restaurant called parmessano
Oh Mr. @cbhours my suspicions about you just went through the roof. No Colombian national or Colombian American ever says "Colombian food isn't that good". No one.

If you like Mexican food, think of Colombian food as having similar ingredients and textures minus all the mild or hot peppers. Also the use of bananas as a masa for their tamales instead of corn.

I repeat. No Colombian ever states that they dislike Colombian food. IT NEVER HAPPENS.

I wasn't raised in colombia...I've never heard of bananas as a masa here, they have the big leaves but the masa is corn from what I've seen.

Mexican food is in a completely different league it can't even be compared. Honestly I even like the venezuelan restaurants better.

Edit: most Colombians haven't traveled outside of the country, I really like the food in Osaka.

The idea of anyone thinking their blanket opinions about any country's food anywhere is universal truth betrays them for the pompous people that they are. Ask any professional chef how ignorant you come off with this.

Anyway - Colombian food is yummy and me thinks you are not Colombian. Or you're the only self-hating Colombian American or national I've ever known. Because there aren't anymore on the planet. 🤣

If you think Colombian food is worth going to Colombia for then that's great but you are in the minority. Who brags on applebee's top sirloin after eating ruth chris?

I was actually raised in south carolina...lots of negative things can be said about south carolina but food is not one of them.

You think I'm lying about being Colombian? Who would do that? I'm actually about to benefit from being Colombian for the first time soon as I'm going to use mercosur to get a visa for a long stay in Uruguay. People say they have amazing steak there, I'm going to find out!

Edit: regarding your professional chef comment....professional chefs in colombia don't really advertise cooking Colombian food, most of the content on their menus they offer are not Colombian food. Of course if you ask them to cook a Colombian dish they will do it.

...the thousands of expats posting on expat groups? I've seen a few mention the food being better on the coast but I've never been out there.

I've never met a Colombian American or immigrant or Colombian (in Colombia) trash talking Colombia. Especially their food Mr. South Carolina. It's not thing.

I just said the food is not worth traveling to Colombia for. The same can be said about a ton of places. It doesn't mean I can't recommend good places to eat in colombia.

No you've said a ton of things - all negative - about the place and/or it's people on many a post here. Don't you play coy now 😶‍🌫️.

Hey why don't you pick on Russian models, their country, people, food etc. I hear 50% of Russians still only have a toilet outside of the house. And they're supposed to be a European super power lol.

the people are the best part about colombia so not sure what you mean.

I've never been to russia

On this note, take a look at the "quote" button on the bottom of posts. You can click that button each post you want to reply to and then have multiple replies in one post. I mention this because you have nearly half an entire page of just your individual replies, the multi quote is less messy than that :)

I hear they're known for street food empanadas in Medellin. It dawns on me I've never had street food nor empanadas. But the GIS search suggests they're quite tasty. Might make that a mission, learn how to make empanadas. Not sure how much counter space one needs for such a thing. Or patience.

Hmm ya know, a jerk chicken empanada might be a really fun take on it too. I have been craving jerk chicken so much lately. I've only had it once in Jamaica but there's something telling me to try to make a batch of that at home too. Some fresh pineapple chunks on the side. Rice and peas. Ice cold Coca-cola. Oh or maybe a Red Stripe beer.

It was Colombia, Bogota (not Medellin, I didn't fall in love, sorry to say) where I went back in October, but I tried a few different empanadas there and wow, I must confess, they tasted amazing. I personally loved them. We got ours in a little local food restaurant, not on the street. I also really liked the stuffed arepas too.

Is nobody going to mention the quail eggs. I mean, what the fuck is going on with all the quail eggs? Colombian quails just laying on overtime.

What's wrong with quail eggs? They're tasty. And tiny and fun.

The quail eggs were nice and easy to eat, mostly due to the fact they reminded me of the Cadbury Mini Eggs that are popular during Easter in England

The only time I’ve had quail egg is cold and raw on top of uni sushi. It’s quite an experience!

Oh sorry, I meant the overall texture of the eggs. :) I understood the assignment. ;)
haha roger that.

Not sure if you/others have had uni (sea urchin) sushi, but that stuff is already quite creamy and salty, then with the egg it's even creamier, and the egg is very chilled so it's definitely a sensation I haven't had with other sushi. We splurge once in a while and get one each at our favorite spot in the city.

I've only had a California roll and my the rice kicked my ass. But that sounds delish! I love crea...suddenly remembers where I am. Yeah, glad you get to indulge! :)

Any comments or advice? Please be kind.

Why is it always people with such disgusting misogynistic stories who also try to control how we react to them? FUCK NO, I'll be as mean as I want to, because every word you wrote disgusts Me.

I'm an old enough and independent bitch and I am comfortable saying what others have been too polite to say directly: she didn't want to fuck you, sounds like you got more than what you paid for in terms of services, leave her alone/you do not own her, there is no point trying to ingratiate yourself by inserting your empanada opinions here, it is obvious you need to read the room. Your opportunity to be likable is gone, and ... braces, really? 14 year olds ... seriously?! :depressed:

You ask pre-emptively for us (ladies ONLY as if you get to control who replies) because you know what you wrote was offensive and would upset reasonable minded cam models. :depressed: So, no, you do not have the authority to ask for My kindness. You already know you don't deserve it.

I have nothing kind to say to you about your situation, however I suspect and hope that this is a totally invented story so may you have enjoyed our scraps of free attention.
