There's a world of difference between an agency unlawfully using subterfuge to gain personal information about me that I wouldn't consent to sharing and me deciding to hand over my ID to a police officer because I've been wrongfully accused of something and would rather co-operate, be quickly found innocent of any wrongdoing and go about my day than kick up shit and purposefully make things difficult for the both of us because of some vague distrust of "the man"
