I got plat as soon as I hit 5k rp
and til now, I thought the one 'perk' of the status was the 3775 token package (I can't afford the package, but I still have it as an option  )

I'm not really sure how "platinum" status works, but I was upgraded to platinum somewhere around 80 reward points. Maybe it's just because I'm a model? Funny how MFC works.

When I got platinum, I think I got more color/font choices for my name in chat? Or maybe they were available all along and I just didn't notice it.

Other than that, no noticeable advantage to it.

When you accumulate 250 Reward Points, unlimited chat color options will be available

When you accumulate 500 Reward Points, you will be able to change your chat font and style.

To prevent abuse of this feature, we are restricting it only to loyal users of this site who have accumulated 1000 Reward Points and have been members for at least one month.

These things seem to be unrelated to the platium title.

When I had 1500 or 2000 rewards points I emailed and ask to become a platinum member. Had i known that it didn't mean anything I wouldn't have wasted my time. I have 2 premium user names and 1 basic user name. My main premium name is the one I use to buy most of my tokens with. The second premium name only has 400 or 500 reward points. It was made platinum when my main name was. My basic user name is also shown as platinum. The fact that a basic user name is shown as platinum proves that being a platinum member means nothing.

No, it proves that they know you're the same person. But yes, platinum doesn't mean anything :)

Either the criteria for such an upgrade must be very loose, or non-existent!! :dontknow:
Ok, I have proof now, the best way to get Platinum is to stop spending tokens on MFC ...

just try it for 1 month or so, and then you will also be a Platinum member :)

It just a way to get customers who did go passive back on the site.

I got a secret decoder ring with my platinum status, but that was ages ago.

The trick would be giving platinum members something that costs MFC and models near nothing or actually makes them money. Like giving platinum members server priority for responses in changing screens. Make the guests longest, then basic, etc. Make the policy known so spend a couple bucks basics and performance improves.

Ya, I racked up 2k "reward points" in a couple of weeks, stopped buying tokies for a week and was magically rewarded Platinum status. I'm pretty sure I had higher token package beforehand too. I wish I could have at least gotten a sweet koozie out of the deal.

I'm mystified.....

I joined MFC about 5 or 6 months ago. Spent a reasonable amount on tokens for awhile; certainly not a fortune and probably well below average. For the last 2 1/2 months, my finances being in serious jeopardy, I have bought not a single token and have spent very little time on MFC.

And yet, today I was upgraded to "platinum" premium. WTF??

Either the criteria for such an upgrade must be very loose, or non-existent!! :dontknow:

I was upgraded to platinum status the day after I lost my job about 2 years ago. I was like, "gee, thanks MFC, upgrade my ability to buy more tokens the day after I lose my income."

I had like 3k reward points at the time. I know other people who had more than me that still weren't platinum at the time. I was also on MFC only about 3 or so months at the time.

So it seems fairly ambiguous as to when members qualify for platinum status.

Right, I got zero money to buy tokens with but for some reason I am suddenly able to purchase the 3775 token package... Anyone wanna buy it for me?

When I got my taxes back this year, I bought that package... 3 times in a weekend. :woops:

The funny thing about the bigger token packages... you initially buy them thinking they'll be able to last longer. Then you decide to take someone private and stay in there for a half hour and realize the bigger packages can be spent in very little time. ;)

Obviously, one can make the bigger packages (900+ tokens) last a while. But they have to be able to control tipping and try to go group over going private.

It's why, in many cases, I don't buy tokens unless I want a private/group. At least then I know the tokens are going to be spent in a set amount of time over trying to hold on to them for longer.

When I got upgraded, I was able to get the 1875 package.
