I had a fairly regular client send me a clip they had recorded of our show on their phone...

I'm annoyed and creeped out... but not protected in any sense. I will search the forums but can anyone point me in the right direction?

I don't know how it is on CB, but on MFC there's a recording of every private. Now...why he's sending you a recorded clip is fucking bizarre? Ok, maybe dude just got it on his phone so he could beat off in the bathroom or whatever, but WHY IS HE SENDING YOU CLIPS? I don't know. I'm sure you're more livid that this person recorded without your consent, but I'm just used to being on a site where it's sort of part of the equation (for privates anyway). If that's the case, just stomp your foot down and tell him it's not cool. If it makes you uncomfortable to the point you don't want shows with him anymore tell him that too. (He'll have to earn your trust again somehow ;))

Creeps will creep. Especially in our line of business. Doesn't mean you should stop broadcasting.

All broadcasters should somehow be made fully aware that they will eventually get recorded and might end up on a dodgy porn site.

Did the guy ever explain why he sent you the video? Did he send it via email?

Thank you so much for the input. It was sent via dm... I guess he was watching on the computer but recorded it on his phone so what I was sent was his computer screen videod from his phone.

I do understand our pvt sessions are saved and am ok with that... I was just like. Dude. Why are you recording something you have already and why are you sending it to me...

He says he wanted to share something he really liked with me.

I told him I don't like it at all, I don't want him to do it again and used my husband as reinforcement (saying I'm not even going to tell my husband because he will be pissed as hell)

I've been allowing him to dm on Twitter a few times a day but I think it's time to stop, I want to be friendly but I don't want someone to suck my soul and it's not worth it for the few hundred tokens every few days

If a user is found to be recording a performer without their permission this is violating the ToS of Chaturbate.

Chaturbate do have the options of recording privates but as pointed out, this can be opted out within your 'Settings & Privacy'.

Unfortunately, there is no way to completely protect yourself from being recorded. There are various ways that people can record streams (none of which I will mention so as to keep anyone with any ideas from being able to act on them). Some of these methods are potentially preventable by the site if they are privy to them, and some ways are impossible to not only detect, but stop.

This won’t necessarily stop it, but it might help (see link below).
Also, a regular of mine sent me a screenshot of my videos that he found on other porn sites. Completely pirated by someone. They cropped the CB logo out. I’ve had some success with cooperation from CB & the other hosting sites to get them removed, others are still up. It sucks. Google your cam name sometime. It’s kindof scary. But all the sites that have/had my pirated videos have a “DMCA” violation reporting link somewhere on them. You just have to let them know that you are the model, modeling on CB & did not give permission for the videos to be posted anywhere else. When I was sent the screenshot, my mod & I did a search (only 2 months after I started camming) and there were literally HUNDREDS of my shows out there. Even my very first one.

Also, check with CB support. What the member did is against their rules. Might be able to get him banned entirely.

If someone is pointing their mobile phone at their computer screen, and using the mobile phone camera to record what's on the computer screen, there is nothing anyone can do about this. The site can't protect you from it, the only person who could is the mobile phone manufacturer... by removing cameras from mobile phones.

Just like you wouldn't want random strangers controlling who you call, or text, or whatsapp, or photograph, or make videos of - you can't expect anyone to control how they use their phone either. So what you describe isn't solvable in this instance.

If you find the videos uploaded, then there's steps you can take (contact the site you work upon from which the video was recorded), but this isn't a sure fire success either. You can, of course, ban the user from your account/room etc, so they can't chat/pm/pvt/grp or anything else with you - so hopefully preventing them repeat it. But that may cut off a revenue stream...

Basically, it comes with the territory.

I can't help but feel "welcome to the internet" answers all responses. Honestly, I agree, it's fucking weird - not just recording, but then to send it. But... people are emboldened to do things on the internet they dare not in real life. The bullied can become the bully, because no-one will know. Control freaks and power nutters can exercise their preference without restraint.

While there are laws, the rest is literally the wild west. I'd just concentrate on the fact that (hopefully) 99% of the other people you've interacted with aren't fucking weird, and therefore not to let the odd few weirdos overpower your experiences otherwise,

We do tend to remember bad experiences beyond any good, or certainly multitudes of "ok". But don't let it define your memory....

Thank you! Good advice! One bad experience is not the rest right?

Did he send you an MP4 file for you to view locally on your computer, or did he send you a link to a third party website, where the video was uploaded?

I would be very cautious about selecting that link. He might have access to logs on that website and be trying to locate you via your IP. In the worst case, he might be social engineering you and trying to plant software on your computer that lets him they observe other activities, discover your contact list, or discover your phone number.

I think webcam models should put all activities related to customer-facing activities onto a dedicated computer and there is no way any of that should be on - for example - a telephone or tablet that is used for other parts of your life. That dedicated computer should always be running fantastic quality VPN software.

All the DMCA badge does is give models false peace of mind. Screencappers know what they're doing and don't care.

I’m just realizing this. No matter where I move it to, it just gets cropped out. Ugh. Pointless I suppose. :meh:

The key to watermarking your content in a way that makes it impossible to crop out is to not overlay it on your profile, but to add it into OBS as an actual part of your video stream. That way it gets recorded no matter which method the people use to record.

That being said, I've still seen videos uploaded to various sites with the DMCA logo brazenly right in the video.

Using a program like OBS, you can embed an image directly into the video stream.
Just keep in mind that it's just as easy for some one to embed another image over your image.
Setting up an image slide show, is one way to make the DCMA logo 'move around'. Making it harder to embed another image over your image.

Embedding your CB username into the stream usually doesn't get edited out. And at least then it's even easier to point out it's your content. And it also service to promote your brand.

This is what I recommend, that way if the feed gets uploaded you still get traffic sent your way.

A DMCA logo won't stop anything, so if your gonna water mark why not water mark your model name or your website, if you have one?
Cappers aren't going anywhere, and they are exhausting/expensive and almost pointless to fight.

To OP, if I were you I would just let this fella know that you really don't like that he does that and that you are going to be changing rules on DMS to important buisness questions only "because you get get too many people messaging you and it's overwhelming" ... That way it's not on him. That is of course if you want to keep him as a reg. He'll still record you, he just wont tell you about it and then, will it even matter?

This is just my "i've been doing this too damn long" opinion.

Exactly. And to add to this, if you can ghost the text or logo that you want to use over the entire video, that makes it impossible to remove.

That's so ugly though. Why would you want to essentially ruin your cam show because of some cappers. Fuck them, they don't get to have such a drastic level of control over your success. I highly doubt capped shows affect income at all, but a giant watermark covering most of your feed will.

Creeps are creeps. What you can do is set, through OBS or something like that, a DMCA logo so, at least, it is somehow protected. Or just tell this guy not to do this anymore. But there's nothing you can do about this I guess
