Hey Everyone! I'm in a little bit of a bind and I was hoping to get other camgirls thoughts on what I should do. I am going to relocate in less them two months so I have to find a place now. My best friend will be one of my roommates and her aunt who is a real estate agent is going to help us find a place. I really don't want my friends family to know what I do because they are very religious and would never understand. Not to mention they would probably tell everyone and that is something I don't want.

While researching the internet I found this site http://www.camgirltips.com/hiding-your- ... areer.html
Which really gives me some good ideas on what I can say and why it would be believable. I would just use the "I do customer service from home" lie but what do I say if she asks what company I worked for? Maybe just say mfc and make up another meaning for it. Plus I haven't gotten my first check yet so I have no idea what it says and what info it gives. I read the bank statements say mfcxy, if thats all that the check stubs say also then I think I can get through this with out her figuring it out.

Do you guys think this is a good cover I should move forward with? Do you guys think I will be easily caught in this lie?

Hello and welcome!

You should get verified as a model here and check out all of the awesome threads where we talk about this! There is a great search button at the top of the page that will help you find previous conversations about this issue!

Firstly, I think that this thread is one of THE most important on the site:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1123&hilit=reality+check+being+a+camgirl

I kind of feel like it goes hand in hand with this one:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5764&hilit=how+to+stalk+girls+internet

which is less relevant to this conversation but still important, especially because I feel that people stalking you can lead to them outing you.

It is never guaranteed that you can keep this a secret but TONS of girls have cover jobs! Staying closer to the truth seems to be wise so that people don't have unrealistic expectations of you. I've heard of troubles that girls have when their cover is that they're unemployed so others drop by all of the time or expect them to be free to hang out always. Saying that you had to sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) is awesome because you can just kind of shrug and say "Sorry, I can't really tell you much about it!" MFCXY actually takes you to a pretty vague website, so you can totally run with what they say on there if you like!

Anyway, good luck to you!

Kaylee had some good advice. As far as people I don't want to know are concerned I do editing and post-production for the adult industry. People don't get as weird when your cooter isn't involved but usually won't ask many questions. Inform them that you do many conference calls throughout the day so you really can't have people just stopping by.

Also want to inform you that if you are getting direct deposit through your bank you will NOT be getting a check stub.

Thank you guys so much! I feel much better now. I'm going to look at the website links now. Such great ideas, I am so glad I posted here! :-D

Off topic - does anyone else think it's weird that 'our' MFC doesn't have a wikipedia article?

Drats! The dreaded topic. lol, Back when I was still working a shit job at the university I attend I remember planning my 'switch' and thinking of a believable alternative for my occupation.

I completely stay away from MFC when people ask me what I do. I do well in school and have worked lab jobs before so I tell everyone I am a paid undergraduate research intern for a protein research facility.

It isn't totally a lie since I do work there, it's just unpaid. :shhh:

It is different for every cam girl, though. Basically it's what you are most comfortable with.

If I were you, though, I would make something else up and run with it since your family and friends are very religious like mine are.

Good luck and don't slip up! ;)

Oh my.. so many cum jokes are possible with this... but I shall refrain. :-D

While hiding it will most likely be possible from the majority, the religious roomie will be by far the most difficult. Simply the "accoutrements of the job" will lend toward inquiry. Since most roomies are nosy to some degree, you might want to have a pre-made 'Uh-oh' story ready for when she sees some sexiwear or toys that were seen by mistake. :shhh: You sure you cant live alone cuz it'd sure make it easier for you ....

HAHA!! I didn't even think of that and I have been working there for half a year now. LOL.

And I agree, living by yourself would be much easier...I lived with a roommate when I first started camming and though I could have hid it from her (breaking down the studio and hiding the dildoes and such,) I think she would have put it together pretty quickly since she will be able to hear you through the walls. Camming gets loud especially with the music going and the guys that want you to basically scream o.o

When I first started camming, I hid it from everybody except my best friend, and my boyfriend. I also lived with my boyfriend's parents, and would only work while his stepmom was at work and his father played golf. As the years went one, my sister moved in with me and I felt that I had to be honest with her, and I found telling her (one of the most judgy people I know), felt great, and made me realize that its up to me who knows and who don't. I can't control who my sister tells, but I can control how I let them make me feel. If I'm comfortable doing this, then their opinions are just that... opinions.

So I recommend knowing you are 100% comfortable doing this, that is the key thing.

However, if you do go with the I work as cutomerservice rep, that's fine too. Like I said when I first started I was living with my boyfriend's parents, so when I did shows when they were home I made sure to lock my door, and tell people in my room I had to be quiet, because I didn't want to get caught, and that sometimes made people more intrigued, because it added danger and excitement, and I played off that and had some really awesome privates, that involved the guys seeing how long I could keep quiet.

Easily? Maybe not, but it all depends on how careful you are. But no amount of careful guarantee your privacy. You should hope for the best, but plan for the worst. If you absolutely cannot live with the idea of people finding out you're a cam girl, then you should not be a cam girl. Do a risk vs reward analysis and that should help you decide.

I'm a market-researcher :)

I tell people I'm on the phones getting people to fill questionnaires, I also remind them of how boring it is and sound very bored about it when I talk about it. If people push on it I'll sometimes just say "look it's a really boring job, but it pays the bills, I don't really like it but I have to do it, I'd rather not have to also talk about it when I'm not working". My mothers boyfriend is particularly curious about what I do, too curious, I think because he can't see how I'm making so much money, and also because he's just a curious person. He asks too many questions.

Actually I find certain things easy to talk about my "job" because I get to say how stressful it can be working at a computer. How sometimes people are really rude or just waste your time. How I sometimes will make loads and sometimes absolutely nothing (I say I work on commission). Actually I tried the NDA thing with my mum's boyfriend, I said they don't like me discussing the research I get and what I'm researching because I'm technically working independently and they don't want me to sell/share my research onto someone else. Annoyingly he just seemed to get more curious.

There will be some people like him who won't drop it. To my mother I tell her I do phone sex which is easy, most other people I'm open about what I do. Actually a lot of people guess which used to freak me out a bit.

Most people will believe what they want to believe. One thing though, I would avoid informing members that there are people in your real life who you don't want knowing what you do. You want it to seem like you really don't give a crap and that most people in your life know exactly what you do. Not saying it'll happen, but it is often a big stalker threat that the stalker will threaten to send pictures/videos of you to loved ones, recently there was a girl having problems with a guy who threatened to send these videos to her landlord to try and get her evicted. (as camming is not illegal I really doubt those would be grounds for eviction, but not nice all the same)
Anything like this you need to be posting in the models only section. I'd love to say that all the members on here are lovely, which most are, but this is a public forum and there are a lot of douchebags who read through it, and sometimes join every now and then and make it clear how much they hate the girls they depend on so much.

It's been a long time I had to deal with giving people a cover story. These days I flat out tell them. I've been living on my own since I was 18 so giving friends and family an explanation of what I do for a living is really no longer their business to get involved in. This confidence bravery whatever you want to call it seriously comes with experience and being more comfortable in your own skin.

If you want to go with the at home customer service job there are hundreds of companies out there that do it. Pretty much now any call center out there has one so you could just pick anything really that you use and say you work for them from home. i.e your internet service provider, and cell phone.

Some people are creative enough to never people they actually have a job but they are able to show they can get by - ie Kramer from Senfield.

Then the easy access cover up job is direct selling companies. Pretty much go to the DSA website pick a company you like and say you work for them. Then that way if friends and family ask what you do you can tell them it's direct selling and you would love for them to come to a presentation or party demo and they usually back down. If they want to buy your products from the company you gave them that is where you get creative and then decide if you want to spend money in a cover up business that could be income, but honestly after a while it gets exhausting spending money in your cover up business to keep up with the I don't want people to know what I do I just want to do it in peace.
