Celebs Only... Hot or Not?

Got this idea from a recent g/f who said Lucy Liu was not hawt at all. I told her she's crazy, lol.

Anyway, this is a thread where you can vote and/or post a celeb and see what others may think about your judgement.

Of course, images help for those obscure celebs people may not know.

ETA: Porn celebs also qualify, just no models please because everyone's taste is different and this is not a thread to hurt anyone's feelers and solely for fun participation.

I think it was a good idea. I adore Lucy Liu myself. It's a unique thread so people probably need to digest the idea. I'll try to think of an entry tomorrow. Too much wine tonight.

Intentions were to create an ongoing separate, individual vote for each post providing people were bold enough to share their opinions and ideas at a celebrity's expense.

I don't think it matters that these girls are celebrities, I think it's disgusting when people dissect a person's appearance. There is a world of difference between posting people you think are hot and opening discussion on whether you think a specific person is attractive.

I appreciate your opinion and had mixed feelings about it too, but later realized celebs get paid very well to be in the public spotlight and being critiqued comes with the territory of celebrity status. If people choose to participate, they can be as general or specific as they want. I can assure you, Lucy Liu and other celebs won't lose any sleep worrying about whether people on some website think they're hot or not.

Well I'd say she's very visually appealing. That probably has a lot to do with her being a celebrity. Type cast as the pretty, exotic woman. But I know little to nothing about her as a person, which affects whether I'd call her hot or not. There are a lot of people who look good but are not hot IMO.

I think Lucy is beautiful, but hot to me is something different . . . probably what you meant though. I don't think she is hot . . . totally cheesy of me, but I have a huge girl crush on Madonna. A lot of famous people are beautiful . . . but sexy to me is a whole different thing (can be very, very seperate in my mind quite often). I think it has to do with personality for me, or maybe some kind of vulnerability or something else, that I see in certain people. I like this topic, due to not equating the two (beauty and sexiness)

I don't think it is necessarily dehumanizing to do something like this. It depends on the circumstances. In the case of celebrities, they are, in a sense, already dehumanized (not necessarily in a damaging way though -- unless you want to talk about our society's emphasis on looks). Their celebrity status is generally tied to their profession, and when we talk about their appearance, we're essentially evaluating an aspect of their product and not their worth as human beings. It would be a different story if we were interacting with them personally. If I met her and said, "Lucy, I think you're a 7/10 -- I like this about you, but I think your (whatever) could look better -- that would be inappropriate because I am dealing with Lucy the person not Lucy the movie star icon.

With non-public figures, it's a little different. Most of us do discuss with our friends how attractive or not we find certain people. People just do that, and it's to be expected, but it would not be okay to do that publicly because that person generally has no product associated with their physical appearance. Therefore they could only view it as a personal judgment on them, and it could be hurtful.

I agree that it would not be okay to discuss cam models in that way here because they are here as themselves not as their products. Saying camgirl X isn't that attractive in this venue would be like walking up to her and telling her she is ugly. Obviously not cool.

My thoughts on the actresses shown so far:

Lucy Liu -- attractive woman but doesn't make me go OMG
Emma Watson - adorbs (definitely my type but a little weird for me because I remember her as a little girl)

She is a recognised artist (under her Chinese name) who gives all of her sales profits to charities.
She has been a UN ambassador for several different 3rd world campaigns and is still active in these roles.

She reminds me a little of Kristin Stewart, who i also think is gorgeous and talented. Stewart had gotten so much bad press over the years, its nice to see people accepting her as the extremely cool and cute girl she actually is.
