I'm so interested in how certain mediums require different types of engagement, and I find the same - celebrities who don't write their own tweets are almost always dry and boring. Sometimes I'll see a musician or whatever that I like, and then see that their tweets are like "Jerry's new album drops next Friday....like us on Facebook to win a copy...have you voted for Jerry for the People's Choice Awards?". It becomes obvious that they're just trying to sell you something and it's boring.
On the flip side, there's celebrities who've showcased their personalities and engaged fans that (in my opinion) have become more successful/known than they would have been without Twitter. (I think of people like Misha Collins, Blake Shelton, Chrissy Teigen or Paul Bisonette, as those are ones I'm familiar with, haha). It's really cool and also, I think, fun that it gives those who enjoy talking to fans a bit of a leg up.
