I saw this on the news as well.
Well, on SourceFed... which is kind of the news.
Anyway, I think it's actually a brilliant business venture. When I was in school, we actually spent a long time in class discussing how crucial human touch is. The majority of men who see prostitutes don't usually do it out of sexual need but out of needing human contact which is crucial for your mental health. They are usually just lonely guys who want to feel close to someone and that's the only way they really know how.
I can't remember the percentage of the study, but in one of my text books it stated that either in the 80s or 90 percentage of men in one study who saw prostitutes regularly actually stopped when they started getting regular non-sexually massages from massage therapists. It talked about how America has one of the lowest touch-based cultures (we don't really touch our friends or family often) where I believe parts of Europe had the highest touch-based culture (France came in second, I can't remember the first... but the study observed strangers in coffee shops around the world talking to one another and how often they touched one another's hand or arm).
We also talked about how many babies died during WW2 I believe that were orphaned, not because they weren't getting enough milk or warmth, but because there were so many babies that not enough of them were able to get human contact which is crucial in a baby's development. On that note, mostly in places like China or elsewhere that there is a surplus of orphaned children who don't get enough individual attention turn out to have a lot of mental disorders and social problems in the future.
Anyway, my point is that I think she's brilliant in taking advantage of this.
