Camgirl Success Troubleshooting Summary

Hello, folks!

One of the reasons my ACF score is so high is because I devote some time trying to help out models in the private section. One of the threads I wrote, which many ladies seem to enjoy, is called Camgirl Success Troubleshooting. It is a thread which attempts to provide multiple possible solutions to many problems so that camgirls can try to troubleshoot their problems (most specifically, why they are not as successful as they like). In a compendium with the public guide I just posted, I thought I would summarize the troubleshooting thread I wrote for non-approved models and other interested parties.

The real troubleshooting thread is here, or in my signature. The original thread is I think around 10,000 words at this point and comes complete with helpful pictures and gifs! This post only covers the first post in the original thread, not the other two pages of information.

I can't get members to stay in my room
You may not be doing anything to keep their attention
Members are not going to pile in to your room and wait for the show to get started like a theater! If you are not being visually and audibly appealing there is no reason for members to come in and stay.

Smiling, looking happy, and moving around goes a long way towards providing an attractive visual. Talking or singing goes a long way towards providing audio that's nice to listen to.

You may have a bad feed or bad camera settings
Go to another computer and watch yourself while you cam. Your image should be crystal clear.

Members might just be looking for something else (and that's okay)

I can't get members to spend money on me
Do they know what you have for sale?
Plenty of models never mention that they have videos, pictures, content, Skype shows, privates, groups, or even public shows for sale. They expect members to work hard to find out what they have going on. Members are not going to work hard. They are the customer. If you are not providing them with a product, they will move on (ps: the honor of looking at you is not a product!)

Are they afraid of getting ripped off?
Provide guarantee programs that ensure every tip is rewarded and build a reputation as being honest.

Are you giving away everything for free?
Plenty of models also do free shows out of desperation, or end a countdown and do the show anyway if they can't get tips. Do not teach the people around you that no tips = show.

Are not giving enough away?
A tease is good, being dressed like a (not sexy) nun is maybe not so good. Some models are even offended that a member wants to see their legs before a private show; do not be that model. Sometimes a guy wants to see more than your bust sitting at your desk. It is okay to show a little skin here and there, even if you are not being showered with tips.

Are you blaming the members for not giving you enough money?
This is bad. Do not do it. They will give you less money.

I can't keep my camscore up! [MFC specific]

Are you staying online when you're not earning money?
Although you should generally stick to a schedule, even after you have altered your prices and services for sale, get offline if you seriously aren't making any money. Optimally, you would stick it out to the end of every shift; realistically, you should not.

Are you offering incentives for offline tips?
Video sales and Skype shows are a good way to get offline tips that help raise your camscore.

Are you accepting a lot of third party payments?
You may get more money but your camscore isn't being helped out by this.

I can't start a GOLD show! [SM specific]
Is your timer too long?
Most members pledge in the last 3 minutes of a show. There is no point for anyone to wait 17 minutes just to pledge in the last 3. Long timers work for some women but they do not mean more pledges.

Are you 'cheerleading' in your room to get the show started?
Many models cannot start shows unless they are constantly talking it up and encouraging members to join. Try it out.

Are you offering a show that people want to see?
Just as on MFC, just because a hot chick shows up and is willing to get nude does not mean people necessarily want to see it (okay, a lot of people probably DO want to see it, but still). You don't have to do a double-fisting squirt show if you don't want to, but members may not necessarily want to pay for a rip-off fetish show, either. That being said, lots of bizarre and crazy shows sell extremely well on SM just as they do on MFC.

Are you offering extra incentives?
Many models provide videos and other incentives for joining their shows.

Is your goal too high? Is the minimum contribution too high?
You are not making more money off of a $150 show it takes you two hours to start than five $50 shows you can do in an hour. Unless your brand is high-end exclusive shows, don't hold out for a higher single show instead of less money.

- does it look like you are hiding in the shadows because of dim lighting?

- do people say they are getting cam freeze/lag/pixels/teleportation show?

- do you have interests that could make your free public chat more fun?

- what do the high tippers get that other people don't get?

- do you bring things on cam that aren't sex toys?

- do you like porn videos with no plot and bad acting?

- are your guests and basics getting away with saying things that would get a premium banned?

- does your topic say something similar to "tip 20 if you think i'm cute"?

I greatly surprised myself by finding I agree with all of this, except the profile bit (plenty of perfectly successful models don't have any profile to speak of).

I have been camming on MFC off and on now for a little over a year and I still find I am struggling which is why I am an off and on Model lol
I get bored easily as well as grumpy when no one talks to me in my room way too often. I will take your tips to heart and hopefully get more pleasure then pain from camming.

I just discovered today that some men fetishize shoes...and they don't have to be on a girl's feet! I would also love to see a fetish guide to MFC.

I do know that much of what drives my room is leg/pantyhose fetish; since that is one of my personal fetishes I can easily spot it. I don't see that many other girls that focus on that, which makes me wonder because plenty of models have killer legs - it's not all just about the boobies (well maybe this month it is, being breast cancer awareness month)

Some great tips on here ^.^ especially about broadcasting at the same time everyday! My schedule sometimes makes it hard to be consistent with when I'm on. Definitely the most I struggle with so far is keeping myself bubbly and entertained when my room is quiet.

Definitely DON'T take a slow night personally. It happens to everyone. Even top models! When I have a slow night, I make the decision to have fun with MYSELF which thankfully I'm already good at it, ahah. Even if I've been talking to myself for an hour, I'll keep it up, or I'll start dancing, or reading out loud from a book I love, or showing people what I have in my purse lol silly shit like that. Another good trick is to maybe change your topic altogether. Maybe people just aren't feeling the game you've been trying to play, or maybe your topic is too full of different ways to tip you. Looking busy makes you look FUN.
For broadcasting on multiple sites, just know your chatroom. For instance, on Streamate, people are there to get off, not socialize (usually...at least that's my experience). But on MFC & CB, making friends & having conversation is a HUGE part of what takes up your time on cam. Don't forget to keep notes on who's who on each site - having followers/fans/friends on multiple sites can be overwhelming, & it's easy to forget little details about them (I have offended a few people by forgetting a conversation we had, or where they lived, because there can be so many people to keep track of. I've since learned). So MAKE NOTES! Or even saying out loud "'member name' lives in such&such, okay gotcha" helps me, even if I don't actually make a note of it. Hope this helps & I know while some girls do this, I do not broadcast on more than one site at a time. THAT would drive me nuts, & would be so hard to keep track of what conversations I'm having with who. Some models are really good at this ahah, & props to em, but I know I would not be! Hope this helps any

Unless you already have a following on MFC, I would switch to Streamate.

Great thread I've been on MFC for about 2 months I had an amazing first day but haven't had a great day since. I wish there was a reset button so I can start off with the fresh camscore again and take advantage of the new model tag and streamate seems so slow

I believe you can close your account and open a new one with the same name ,maybe? That way you do show up as a new host again and have your initial camscore . And try and put to good use the info and advices you've come across here. I don't know if that's a good course of action , but if you are ready to invest more time and keep a steady schedule and maybe have some videos ready to sell or any other content , you could do that I guess. You need to write to mfc staff to close your former account . Also, you can have multiple accounts opened at the same time on the same email addy. I mean you could get a new account first , see how it goes then close your old account. Or if you want to keep the same name , you might need to first get it closed, then try to reopen a new account. I know I had 2 accounts opened on the same email addy , and just as of yesterday I closed my former one ( that I initially opened 4 years ago or so ). I was going to ask if that's not a better way to do it myself, wipe everything and start fresh with all the lessons learned. I will probly do that ,too, when I am confident I know enough. For the moment I am still not convinced I can do better with a re-do. Still have plenty to learn. Good luck ! :*

I tried to close my account and open a new one and they didn't let me but I have been putting more time and energy keeping a positive vibe and I've been averaging 2000 tokens a shift which is awesome because I know I can only grow from there hopefully you log on soon and I my best advice is get verified if you've never been already soooooo much good advice on here

For any girls considering 'reopening an MFC account'
I had an MFC account, closed it and got a new one 2 years later after I got experienced on chaturbate. Closing/reopening a new account to "start fresh" isn't the magical key to success I would say, unless you have the plans to generally hit the ground running. Sure, I had more experience and felt confident returning to the insane ness that is MFC but I don't want models to be mislead that a new account will solve everything. If you don't have the tools/time/game plan to maintain the high camscore by the time new model status runs out=same issue again. Maintaining a higher camscore is more difficult in my opinion than getting it to initially rise. You're better off focusing on your current account and growing with your following. It IS possible to bring a camscore out of the red. There are several very successful models here who have done so!

OK,I was not aware of this .
I did have an old account and I tried opening a new one without deleting the other one and it worked. it's true I didn't try to broadcast on both , but they were both opened even on the same email addy. So I had multiple accounts and I assumed it's normal. Since they were both created on the same email addy , shouldn't the system reject the creation of an additional account ? at least ! besides, the mfc staff has to approve the documents you upload to your second account. won't they inform /let you know you already have an account open under that name & that you aren't allowed to have multiple accounts?
Like I said above,To be able to delete my former account ( my own choice to do so after weeks of having the new one) I had to email mfc staff and they deleted it for me .
These are the facts. Have you tried opening another account yourself ? Can you refer me to where you read of this rule? I would really appreciate it.
I am not questioning what you said by any means, I am just trying to figure out how come if it's a rule and not allowed can STILL happen with mfc approval needed in order to open a second account, that's all. :*

Ok if you say so. I myself don't believe in slip through 's. Not when so many strict rules and regulations are implemented in this industry. slip through 's means there is no certain rule regarding this. or they would have made it slip-through proof. I don't think you can broadcast on 2 accounts at the same time , and that should be against the rules for obvious reasons, but she asked if she could start over again with the initial cam score once more. I believe under this circumstances, my advice still stands, to help our fellow host : she should try and open a new account if she has all her facts straight this time and if willing to put into practice all the great advice she found here in regards to mfc . and close her former one . it is possible , at least in some cases. good luck to her !

Yeah it's pretty common knowledge around here that majority of girls who have ASKED to open a new account (A) have been denied. A handful have tried just making a new account without asking (B), and then MFC shut down their new one and told them to simply use their original account. And a few have slipped through the cracks via avenue A or B.
