So I log on to Chaturbate today and an anime/hentai broadcaster is in the top 3 list. Begs the question of wth they verified. Different strokes for different folks I guess. But, given that Chaturbate has become a "bot" site I'll tip my favorite broadcasters in Amazon gift-cards rather than tokens until their management can fix their image.

Video games aren't allowed for copywrite reasons, so this isn't the same.
There are plenty of games that are under a creative commons licence (so would have no copyright to be copyright issue) you still can't stream those. You also can't do a screen share and stream you making something from scratch since that (from what I was informed, when they banned me for creating my KingMarti boxer line while doing a screen share to get feedback from the members on what they liked).

The copyright argument imo has little to do with it. Game streaming itself isn't even a copyright issue, hence why you don't need to buy a stream licence from a Dev to play a game on twitch or to play infront of an audience.

My point is at the end of the day it's a game being streamed, which cb has repeatedly said they do not allow.

Whether it would actually be an issue or not doesn't matter, that's what CB claims as the reason they don't allow games.

Edit: actually that make some wonder if they'll ban that other room for playing 2nd life, because if they didn't then that would be some real preferential treatment

I ended up going take a look-see last night and from some stuff that was being said in the chat and her response I’m like 85% sure I know who it is.

ETA:
Not that it matters who it is. I personally find the whole thing really creative.

That's exactly the point I was making though, you cant allow one or 2 people to be exempt from a rule.

Yep, I have the same opinion on the room that streams second life, since again it's streaming gameplay which they have clearly said is not allowed. The problem with their rules is that they arnt written down anywhere. There are 100's of rules that they enforce that arnt stated in the TOS and the TOS has the whole "and anything else we deem to be inappropriate at any time" type clause which I have a feeling leads to the whole different rules being enforced on different people situation.

You mean the 'rules' of whomever happens to be admin at any specific time. I had my fair share of warnings and bans myself over the last 8 years and the only reason the bans were lifted was after asking them to show me what exact 'written' rule was breached in the TOS.

If cb explicitly allows something when asked, it's just their right to do so.

(My words not yours.)
So basically if it makes CB money, they'll skirt the rules for some while punishing others.

Unity itself is not a game; it's a framework, and it can be utilized for applications outside the realm of gaming. Same for VR tech, which is not just for gaming. Most importantly, the performer is not advertising or utilizing it as a game. Interactive virtual environments are not inherently games, and applications like Second Life and VRChat are great illustrations of that. What we're seeing here are examples of virtual environments being used as chat applications, and to me that's absolutely viable.

CB is clearly on board with the concept of virtual cam performers. They've allowed it many times, now, over many years. If we're worried about CB's lackluster record of consistency in stating and enforcing their own rules, in this case, it should be in regards to whether others have been or might in the future be banned for what is being allowed at the moment. Has anyone been banned for using a virtual avatar?

Come on, do you want to hold cb's tos against cb? Really? I don't even want to look, but what's stopping cb from adding "unless explicitly allowed"? It's their site.

Yep, those rules 😂
If cb explicitly allows something when asked, it's just their right to do so.
And in doing so they then set an understanding (president not sure if that's the right word) that it is allowed on the platform by any member / model.

Right, unity is not a game, it's a game engine for crating games, second life and VR chat I would argue are both games as they have all the characteristics I would use to describe a game.

As for the being banned for being a virtual avitar, I cant comment, but I have been banned for not having my face on cam (support told me that your face has to be on cam at all times or they cant verify the person who is on cam is who they have the id for, which would also apply in this case). I have also been banned for doing a screen share when creating graphics and 3d models which again I think does apply in this case since they are sharing the output of an application (although I am not 100% sure what the actual issue is with doing screen shares).

Come on, do you want to hold cb's tos against cb? Really? I don't even want to look, but what's stopping cb from adding "unless explicitly allowed"? It's their site.
Given the TOS is what gives you the information to what can and cant be done I 100% think they should hold themselves to the TOS otherwise it is completely pointless them even being there.

It stays forbidden for everyone else, because we don't know the exact requirements of why and how it was allowed.

Right. This is obviously such an uncommon scenario, it's going to be handled on a case-by-case basis, at least until it happens enough for standards to be established. If a person was really concerned with the ability to do this, they could contact admins directly, and establish parameters under which such a broadcast is allowed.

Second life is not actually a game.
It has it's own money (the Linden) exchangeable for real money.

I has also it's own adult zones : https://secondlife.com/destinations/adult
Being CB, I would assimilate it to a concurrent cam site for this room activity
(and this room is banned since 1 or 2 days I think)

I spent some time in the Anime room. She's definitely an early adopter. But if CB is allowing it, then as others have said, they need these "test bed" cases to analyze and use as a means to help develop policies and TOS articles by which to regulate performers.

More power to CB, I say. It's their site/platform to develop as they see fit. Having said that, though...

...there are some issues that I made note of while being in the room:

1. The issues with copyright, that many here have mentioned, are well founded. In that even if she is using a form of motion capture to provide the machinations that animate the Anime Avatar on screen, the Avatar image and all associated art assets(the 3D-model, textures...etc) are all being made by someone(the content creator(s), and takes many hours of work to create. So either the art assets are being provided under some form of "open source" agreement, or they are being made available by the content creators with their expressed consent for this type of usage - as a means to test the market on the CB platform. Either way, unless a model has this type of support from the actual artists/developers/content creators...etc, the barrier to entry(monetarily) for any model looking to do this will be quite high.

CB would have to devote a LOT of time and resources into policing this type of content to protect themselves from 3rd party copyright claims. Keep in mind that this case involves a depiction of an "Anime" art style. So ask yourself what happens when someone uses art assets/content to make an Avatar that resembles "Angelina Jolie" or any other celebrity or well known personality/cartoon character...etc...?? It won't be a good day in court for CB if they are expressly allowing it to happen on their site.

Now, CB -could- create their own characters, or license a set of pre-made characters that models could make use of and select from, but it's wayyy too early at this stage to tell if they planning to fund such an endeavor.

The creator said it was made in unity, a video game engine...It dosnt have the ability to do live motion capture

I'm surprised to hear that, because some of the camera angles they use, happen to show off the VR controls. And they look exactly like VRChat. Which happens to be made in Unity.

People are already doing real time mocap in unreal and unity.

In unity there is an online market of assets. And they're sold with different licences. Some times you see 20 dollar assets in million dollar games. If you think about it, it is strange that say some one can stream fornite, make a ton of money, and fornite doesn't get any of that. But then nether does logitech who made the web cam, or OBS who made the streaming software.

But if they haven't gotten the right licences, then that's some thing that should be resolved.

Now, CB -could- create their own characters, or license a set of pre-made characters that models could make use of and select from, but it's wayyy too early at this stage to tell if they planning to fund such an endeavor.

Kind of reminds me of the movie The Congress. I mean does it make sense for models to scan their body. Own the rights to their likeness. Maybe long tail their career into a virtual model. Where their likeness can continue to create content for a long time to come in video games, and other media.

My only gripe about this room is the sheer number of people who go into her cam room and talk about child-pornography related content. I’ve personally seen it the few amount of times I’ve been in there. The chat moves so fast, it gets buried in the comments, but those comments were still made. CB is usually so strict on anything that can attach them to being underage-related and people have gotten banned for even having stuffed animals in their room or looking “too young.” That’s all I’m saying.

**edit - for more clear reference on what this “content” is, since melody.tv advertises herself as an anime hentai character, there would often be comments asking if she’s a fan of these notorious hentai films about adults having sex with literal elementary schoolers. (ex: shoujo ramune is frequently brought up)**

Sounds like the consequence of attracting an audience largely made up of 4chan edgelords.

Melody tippers are clearly the “dark web” (i dont like labels so i let you you all use your creativities) fans.... It kinda makes me sad
that their ultimate fantasy is not a human but an anime charachter. 😨 at this time i think she is going to stay a famous chaturbate “model”. I want to create another one just much barbie like I wm working on it but it is a lot of money 😧😦. I always wondered why porn stars or famous insta onlyfans girls are not online streaming on cam. Melody made me
realize why. Candy Charms or Aletta Ocean(just examples) could stream on cam and they still wouldn’t get tipped if their fanbase from insta/onlyfans wouldnt help them out. At this point melody made me realise how to work better on streaming adult sites especially chatuebate. be wise girls lol

Hi there! I'd like to clear a few things up as a live VR girl who just got started. As for age verification, I had to submit my photo ID like everyone else. On top of that, I have a second password protected stream just for CB that shows a live view of the motion capture space just so they can verify at any time that I am who I say I am. I respect their rules to ensure that age verification is always enforced.

I know I'm not the only VR live cam girl, but I think I may be the most advanced? The difference is that my whole body is tracked, even my facial expressions are live. No part of what I do is pre-recorded since I want it to be a very real experience for everyone involved.

I put in some extras like a shower that melts my clothing, a big magnifying glass that sees through clothing, and other fun stuff.

What makes me angry about ProjektMelody is the fact that there's a man, accompanied with a big team, running it under the women's section. Not only that, this character has access to spaces forbidden to sex workers (such as Patreon and other platforms). It makes you think who has the opportunity to profit from sophisticated technology and occupy spaces that sex workers have gained with effort.

Does it bother you porn knowing that solo female porn is often shot, directed, and edited by a team of men?

So... projektMelody made it to twitch and onto the Rajj Patel show. Currently live:

So... the anime e-ho has gone mainstream.

@AmberCutie

I'm cutting all ties with CB after being on there since 2012-2013 as of April because of that 'anime e-ho' .
Not that my disappearance will be noticed. I'm just a drop in a ocean. :)

I don't know what to think on this stuff. On one hand, I can kind of see where there might be some frustration about how it's not an actual person right there in front of you on cam. But, on the other, I think it's pretty cool to see the advancement in technology and what can be done.

While I think there has been some really good anime/hentai over the years in print and some cartoons. I'm not fascinated enough by it to spend much time watching a stream.

If anything, I'd say it goes along with what many models here have stated: Selling of a fantasy. I don't think these are really any different than a model doing it.

I actually think that Project Melody might not be that "cheaty" in terms of competition with other models... And maybe even the other way...

If I would be someone who wanted to look for a real girl, I think I would be disappointed — she is constantly mumbling some meaningless robotic speech, not that interactive in terms of her actions and reactions, and also she is a low poly 3d anime... so I don't see how she is "stealing" many people from real models for a long time, unless they are exactly for that experience...

Also, when I wathced her I had some unique feeling from her chat and tips, that isn't anywhere on Cb... Because that is like completely twitch gamers chat — people, in the first place, are meming and joking; many tip not because that want something sexual, but with sole purpose to get some attention and be seen inside a large crowd.. just like most of the donations at twitch.

So I think Project Melody is not stealing or interfering that much with real models, and she actracts new and completely different people, which can then actually check other real models as well...

Hi there,
I'll just chime in, not sweating if, because I happen to be a 3D cammer, I get blocked or something. I too was mystified by the phenomenon that is Projekt Melody and her amazing numbers. However, I'm convinced, based on the fact that I've been camming as a 3D model on chaturbate since 2018 and, believe me, I am ZERO threat to flesh and blood camgirls. My numbers are growing, but new FandB cammers come in every day and I am instantly eclipsed. I remain convinced that the extraordinary numbers she's cultivated are the hentai-culture fanbase that she brought WITH HER INTO CHATURBATE! The same phenomenon occurred when she started camming on Twitch. Chaturbate (and in return, we cammers on it) can only benefit from the new influx of users who have joined CB.

For those who are curious ... yes ... I cam from inside Second Life and someone nailed it ... Belleza Freya body :)

There is ZERO need to worry about it, Flesh and Blood camgirls, she's only ensuring that chaturbate will be around for a while, with a new influx of cash and expanded viewership, which might actually mean some of HER fanbase coming to YOUR rooms. It's a WIN WIN.

I'll also say this. Second Life, whether you believe it or not, is not, in effect a "game" and does not therefore break any CB rules. It is a virtual world, yes. But it would be akin to someone broadcasting from Padukah Kentucky. My region just happens to be a virtual one. It's ALSO not a game because there are no goals and you can't "WIN" the game of second life. The stipulation that chaturbate uses is that you can't simply play a video (all of my shows are LIVE and INTERACTIVE) and you can't play video games (my whole being exists to directly entertain my viewers, who are there to see me interact with them as a model, which I do.)

For me the point is who has access to broadcast this way. You have to be educated, tech savvy, with access to appropriate technologies (good bandwidth, computers, etc). It is not about the threat of the digital but more about gentrification, if you ask me. The people that built the space get excluded.
