I'm in California, and I've always had it blocked. I always worry that a relative good stumble on me, or some coworker could stumble on me and possibly put my job in jeopardy. Some of my regulars have pointed out that blocking a state as big as California was eliminating a huge group of potential tippers. For models that have blocked big states, is it more restrictive than its worth? Have any of you unblocked your home state and found a huge increase in members in your room?

I used to have California blocked when I first started because I had family there but ended up unblocking since people can easily bypass the geo block anyway so why lose out on possible $ from a huge area like that. I didn't notice a crazy increase but this was when I was a total newbie.

Its interesting that they are pointing that out to you. I think the real reason why they want you to unblock California is because they are residents of that state, and they want to cancel their VPN subscriptions.

When I started out I blocked out Texas for the same reasons that you blocked out California--I'm from here, some of my family lives here, etc. etc. But, Texas is huge, and there's not just one demographic that I do well in, but many that live here. So, I unblocked Texas, and some of my best tippers/talkers have been from Texas. It's really fun to bond with someone over what's happening in the state-especially our freaking crazy ass weather-and have someone to just shoot the shit with from the state. I found blocking Texas too restrictive, and I ultimately came to grips with the fact that, eventually, someone, somewhere, will find me and what I've done on the internet--because the net is forever. If my friends find out? Okay, the ones I care about knowing already know, same with my family, and the guys I work with wouldn't give a rat's ass.

But, it comes down to you and what you want. If you want to keep California blocked, keep them blocked. But, just remember that Cali is huge, it's the 5th largest economy in the world, takes up a good chunk of the West Coast, and takes a big chunk of the west coast time-slot. I'm not trying to pressure you at all, btw, your comfort at what you're doing and who you are are paramount. I'm just bringing up points to consider.

I'm also in California, and I've never blocked my location. Seems like too big of a loss, though most of my #1 regulars are outside the country.

I've been debating on doing the same thing in my home state.. I think ultimately I'm going to since it's not a huge one like California.. But that's honestly just for a little bit of peace of mind. I really don't expect to not be found out by someone in my area.. And since you already run that risk regardless of having geo-blocking or not, I definitely wouldn't block out the entire state of California. I can understand why you would want to though.

I live in Canada and never blocked anywhere here.

I blocked one of the most populated USA states though because my little brother was stationed there and I didnt want him to deal with his military buddies stumbling upon me. I feel like most people aren't using vpns so for me personally the block was worth it for my fake peace of mind there was less of a chance. I am out about adult work, but I didn't want one of my brother's dealing with how military boys can be with teasing.

Eventually he moved from that state. I unblocked the region. And I don't think it ever had an effect. My income didn't really change and I gained..... maybe one tipper from that state. Of course the potential is more since you never know where everyone was from but it didn't change my income overall tbh. For me it was worth it for sheer peace of mind.

I wish you could block by zip codes instead of just a whole entire state! I'm from Wisconsin and although it's not nearly as big as California or Texas, I do have some tippers who live here. However, I worry about relatives stumbling on me too. Most of them know I used to be an exotic dancer, but it would still be awkward. lol

An IP address can be identified as belonging to a specific city or county. Why dosent MFC offer geoblocking of the ranges of cities and counties?

Mostly, I can't think of any reason why a family member would use a vpn. It was explained to me how they work, and that anyone could give off the appearance that they were located someplace else.

My main concern is that I work for a company that has a morals clause. People have been dismissed for DUIs among other things. I'm hoping to avoid a situation where the company questions whether what I do violates that.

Does your contract address participation in pornography?

If camming potentially violates your contract, should you should probably stop until you get a different job. All it will take for you to be fired is your boss or co-worker seeing you on a tube site.

Are morality clauses religiously motivated?
Sometimes. Often they're motivated by the assumed moral sensitivities of the company's clients/customers, which in turn are more often - though definitely not always - religiously motivated.

ETA "motivated" might not be quite right. There's a chicken-egg thing with morals and religion in my experience. Many folks find or stick with religion because it affirms/supports/reinforces their morals, and so on around.

The morals clause at the company is really more of a shield for them. It allows them to dismiss people for non-work related incidents, without the fear of getting hit with a wrongful dismissal suit. A good example is a guy was fired after a domestic violence incident. He was going to try and sue the company, but he had signed the employment contract with the morals clause.

I don't think that there is necessarily a religious motivation behind it.

A little off topic but was wondering if MFC, or whoever, keeps track of where tippers come from. Which state/country has the most active members? Could track it through zip code for token buys.

Do to the fact that members transactions are done through 3rd parties, MFC does not hold their customers credit card/debit card information.

I live in California as well, and have it unblocked because I don't want to risk losing potential customers/new friends, and I am also open about what I do with my friends and family.

When it comes to geoblocking, you have to consider what time of day you normally cam. How often are you working at your other job? For instance, if you cam during the day here, most of your customers will be from the UK since it's evening over there. At least, that's what I have experienced. So, if you are day-camming and have regulars from other countries, the geoblocking won't be as much of a $$$ issue. I don't know how flexible your schedule is with when you can cam, but it's something to consider.

UGH I wish MFC would allow City blocking/ZipCode Blocks...Would be so much better for me too lol

If enough models request this, do you think they'd do it? I could really use it too and they do take suggestions/are constantly improving functions for us.

Are there any MFC reps around this forum that I'm unaware of? Would be really great to have someone on the inside there to tag on threads like these.

After writing my post I emailed Model Support and asked them about it :b . I personally think that if enough models asked they would eventually do something OR at least explain why they don't. If I get an email back I'll let everyone know what they say!

They don't need credit card data to track it - just the IP address used for visiting should be enough if they don't care about being super accurate.
