Hi!
I've been thinking of becoming a model for MFC for a while, since I discovered it from a girl on Tumblr. I searched what it was to be a cam girl and the advantages/disadvantages of the job. I have occasionally watched some chats (especially, Amber) and the girls always seemed very comfortable and happy with what they were doing. Then I just thought: Why not?
I need extra money and I'm tired of going to job interviews where I know I will not be hired. Sad, but true.
Anyway, I don't know where to begin. I don't know how many tokens ask for a private chat or add me as a friend. I don't even know what to write about me on the sign up page of MFC. :crybaby:
Thank you! Hope somebody can help.

Hi,
first of all, if you really
need money and/or have given up on finding a 'normal' job, keep in mind the possibility that you
might fail at camming - it's not for everyone, it might not work out for you, and you definitely shouldn't stop applying for jobs or going to interviews until you find that you consistently make your monthly goal on a camsite!
I don't know how many tokens ask for a private chat
You don't have to worry about prices for private shows, they're always
either 60 or 80 tokens per minute.
Normal privates are 60.
TruePrivates are 80.
The difference between those two is that in a normal private, other members (who are not the member who started the private and pays 60 per minute) can spy on you, and they pay for that. 20 tokens per minute to be precise. In a TruePrivate, the show is entirely between you and the member who started it, and nobody else can spy on you. So you lose out on money from potential spies. That's why the member pays 80, and not 60 like in a normal private.
- Some girls only accept TruePrivates because they either feel like they make more money that way, or they don't want anyone to spy, ever.
- Other girls accept TruePrivates sometimes, like when they're fulfilling specific fetishes and they don't want anyone other than the member who started the private to be able to watch.
- Other girls only accept normal privates because they make a lot of money through spies, or they're simply happy with 60 per minute.
You'll find out soon enough what works best for you.
About friend adds:
The whole point of friend adds is that not everyone can send you a PM.
New models get overwhelmed by PMs very fast when they're broadcasting.
Lots of guys will send you PMs you don't want to get, such as
- trying to get free personal attention in the form of small talk
- trying to get free dirty talk from you
- trying to suggest off-site payment like PayPal (NEVER ACCEPT PAYPAL. NEVER.) or gift cards for Skype shows
- trying to 'help you' by giving advice that might be with good intentions, but might be misleading. Please accept advice from us models here on the forum, rather than from members who not always but often just want to get an advantage from your lack of camming experience, saying things like 'If you give us a free flash, your room will fill up and people will start tipping you!' No. Don't do that. No one will tip you if you're giving things away for free.)
^ So for those reasons, you won't want to get PMs from people who are not on your friends list.
Some girls handle this by asking for a certain amount of tokens to get on their friendslist, like you suggested. The problem with this is that if you take 100 tokens for a friend add, that guy might tip you 100 and then never tip again - but instead annoy you with PMs every time you're online and then get mad when you won't reply immediately, because after all he tipped for it. That stress is not worth the $5 in my opinion.
I prefer just adding people to my friendslist who
- are in my room a lot
- tip regularly
- I actually like, so I don't mind PMing them and having them PM me
You can also add someone to your friendslist temporarily if you don't know them but need a quick PM conversation with them because they're seriously interested in talking about a private. They might want to know if you'll be ready to fulfill their expectations in private, but might not want to ask about it in public chat. There's no problem with that, but remove them from your list and end the conversation once you start getting they only want to go on and on about their expectations for the private, without actually making the private happen. Those guys are timewasters who you shouldn't focus your attention on in PM, when you could be chatting with people in your public chat.
This is an example of something that happened to me in PM when I started out.
Member: Hi, I love seeing girls in schoolgirl outfits, do you have a schoolgirl outfit you could wear in a private show?
Me: Hi, I have a white blouse and a little skirt.
Member: Sounds nice. Have you done any teacher/schoolgirl roleplay before?
Me: No
Member: Would you want to try it?
Me: Sure, if you take me private, I'd love to.
Member: Yeah? Do you want to be my little slutty schoolgirl?
Me: We will see once the private starts
Member: Tell me how bad you want my cock
(blah blah blah more stupid dirty talk)
Of course he didn't end up taking me private. He just wanted to get off via PM, for free. He wanted me to talk dirty to him while neglecting my public chat.
Watch out for timewasters.
In general, always focus your attention on public chat and not on PMs.
Read more about
private shows and other features in the MFC wiki.
Even though that page is part of the information for members, I'd suggest that you read through the whole page (or at least the parts 'Account Types' and 'Spending Tokens'. That way you'll have an advantage to other new girls already because you know what certain terms mean, how much different shows cost, what member types there are.
Also take a look at
Camgirl Wiki. Lots of great advice put together by Amber and some other experienced girls from the forum.
More important than all of this is that once you're an MFC model, you come back to this forum to get verified!
Then you'll get access to the models only section which is a treasure chest of information.
I don't even know what to write about me on the sign up page of MFC.
When I signed up I just wrote something like 'I'm a fun girl next door who loves getting naughty online so I thought I'd try being a camgirl! I'm interested in music, movies, my friends and the internet.' It doesn't get much more boring than that.
To be honest, it doesn't matter what you write there as long as you write something that shows you're a real human being and that you want to be a camgirl. As far as we know,
MFC accepts every girl who applies, as long as they've sent in everything they need, and are not from one of the countries on their blacklist. Don't worry about your application not being accepted by MFC just because you didn't write an interesting enough 'about me'. They accept everyone.
edit
Aw. I only just saw that her post was from 3 weeks ago so she's probably not seeing this novel I just wrote.. Oh well, hopefully it can help out someone else?
