Hi! I thought first at posting this in models only but I'm welcoming advice from members as well.
I've been using SM primarily for the last month- I read here is might be best to use as practice before MFC. I'm feeling closer and closer to ready to switch but I am a bit nervous- different site, rules, users etc. I like many ladies prefer private to really put on the show, so to speak. What I do like about SM is people pretty much get that private is where nudity etc take place. But I want to make 3xs or more what I'm making and SM doesn't seem to have a ton of traffic. I see the same names day in and out and I have tried many different hours of the day over the course of a month.
Are there any tips you could offer me specific to switching sites? I'm reading through the models only MFC forums as much as I can too which has been a huge help :)

Hello! Mfc is great. I personally do better with public shows. But when I first started I preferred privates. Also, use the web-based broadcaster it's much more effiecent than the software based broadcaster.

I'm a member of both sites, and my experience might not be indicative of a typical member's thought process, but I too started at SM and moved to MFC. As a note, I have rarely been involved in privates on either site, but I consider myself a decent tipper, and between my two MFC accts would be qualified as a 10ker.

On SM, I was always kind of lost as to models who were in party chat, I would almost always seek out gold shows, as I knew what I was getting and knew what was expected of me. I rarely spoke to anyone else but the model and rarely had interactions with any of the other members. The benefits I saw as a member were two fold, because I was pledging towards a gold show, if the goal was not achieved I got my money back, and the video quality was stellar compared to other cam sites.

When I came to MFC, mostly because a model I enjoyed switched, I at first hated everything about it. The layout was what I considered a train wreck, far too much information, I had to buy tokens as opposed to just tipping, everything about it seemed like a nightmare. The reason I stayed, is I got used to the social aspect, and found that is far more enveloping than a 7 minute gold show. Up until this point, I'm sure I've bored you with information you're completely aware of, hopefully this is the part that will help. From what I've garnered over the course of the last year, the majority of your best and most long term tippers in MFC will be heavily involved in the social aspect of your room. It won't be because they expect to see you naked in 10 or 15 minutes, it'll be because of the interactions they have with you and the other members of your room. It's a dramatic difference from SM, from both the member and model perspective. Room control and setting becomes as or more important than the lighting or props. Think of it in terms of, and Christ, I hope this analogy isn't insulting, instead of going to see a one artist concert, going to see a circus, where the ring leader (you) is part of the attraction, but not the entire show.

Hi!
I have been on SM for about 2 months and 4 days ago I switched to MFC.. I really like it so far. It really helps to just log on and chat, When I first went on MFC I told the guys in my room I'd just come from SM so to be patient with me and they all gave me loads of tips, told me what buttons do and how it all works, everyone was lovely. There's a lot more scope for playing games and interacting with the guys in the room and once you get used to tokens instead of gold it's really easy to use.
My first public show had 200+ people in the room watching and I found that a bit daunting after SM when I'd never have more than 15 in a gold show at once but it does feel like I've been eased into it by using SM first.
Good luck!
X

Thank you all so much for the replies- they are all very helpful.
I'm excited to make the switch! I have a pretty set schedule on SM, 40 hours/wk. My plan is to do 20/20 split between the 2 sites till I get comfortable.

I don't mind doing public shows if ppl are tipping but the times I tried on CB it was a mess, 450 ppl in the room, I've already seem clips from it online forwarded to me by a porn producer trying to scout me. (I of course understand all this is likely and I'm mentally prepared.) The sh!t part was I made less that 30$ that whole night. Lol. Chalking it up to learning lessons and paying my dues so to speak but that's the part of public shows that gets me.

I'm a long way from games and stuff but I do feel I can hold my own in chat and talk about stuff that is interesting and fun etc. I like to think my personality will carry me a bit in the beginning as I evolve.

Thank you again :h:

SM and MFC are * completely * different sites. In my opinion, they are like polar opposites.

I started on MFC first and maintained top 100 status for almost all of my 7 months there. I can tell you that, from my experience, MFC takes a lot more work to maintain than SM. So much so, it became too stressful for me to continue. I therefore quit and have been on SM.

From my experience, I found the following to be true:

- MFC is where you have to "on" almost all the time. It is best to be entertaining in some way, at all times. Even while waiting for a countdown, there should be some kind of activity or what have you that includes smaller incentives to get to the bigger incentive.

- Although it sounds like a good plan to wait until x amount of tokens to start the show, you'll find that your room counts will shoot up when you start your show (or that you simply don't have the required members on to make the countdown so you are stuck seemingly either doing nothing or finding a way to start or logging out). It becomes tempting, then, to just do shows for free or at a much reduced rate in hopes to gain new tippers. In other words, going into a direction of working in hopes of getting tipped as oppose to getting tipped first then working.

- It's the norm to do some if not most if not all of your shows in free chat.

- It is much more social in a group kind of way. Unlike SM, people can have outside contact with you and this is quite normal and perhaps even expected. It become increasingly difficult for me to balance out my time spent with people as my friends (off cam time included) versus how my time was spent focused on trying to improve my show and make tokens.

Whereas, I find SM to be much more relaxed for me. I can sit and get other tasks done (such as uploading videos) while I wait to be taken private. There's no expectation to be entertaining at all, no catering to any free loaders which you seemingly have no choice but to do that on MFC, until I am getting paid in private. Even with gold shows, I know I am performing for a set x amount. I think that is a key difference between the two.

So, I'm on team SM... but! I think it will completely vary on what enjoy and what works best for you. I wish you the best of luck with it! :)

Just a reminder re: recording.

If being recorded on chaturbate bugged you when you didn't make dollars...

Every single one of your shows will likely be recoded on MFc. I don't just mean sex shows. I mean when you're ranting, chatting, chilling, playing a game. Days youmake a million tokies, and days you make zero. Everything. And it will be on the internet. Forever.

I started camming on MFC as my first site and adjusted pretty well. Being in free-chat can be very draining though, since you're almost constantly trying to keep more people in your room and entertain the ones that stay. It gets easier though once you get the hang of it. Don't ever let anyone try to add you on the guise of "I can help you, I'll give you an e-book, add me, PM me!" because those guys will just waste your time and take your attention away from public chat.
My number #1 tip would be to be yourself and only enhance something you already have, or else you'll burn out really quick.

^This...It scared me at first when I first started camming and i googled my original cam name. Everything was online with tons of picture previews. Be mentally prepared for this, you can't ever avoid it.

It was a scary experience googling my cam name for the first time.... I've come to terms with it, I just don't want my grandma to find out :p

Ladies, again, thank you so much. I totally agree and appreciate hearing again about EVERYTHING being recorded. Its not that I didn't know, or assume, but the first time did shock me a bit. I guess there's no real preparing mentally, just need to keep swimming.

I took the plunge last night to MFC and LOVED it! I'm planning to go back tonight. I'm still getting the hang of it of course but my room is mostly just chatting and having fun. I did some flashes, and had a group show at the end of my time online.
It was much easier than the first time I checked it out.

I'm grateful I used SM to practice on, it was much easier to be myself and just know what I am comfortable with at this time. I'm not aiming to be a top 100, I just want to do my thing have fun and make enough money to get my own apartment lol. Currently I have 2 room mates and am very focused on getting my own space again.

Thank you ladies so much as always you are so supportive and real.
