I do find the development time a little concerning though because it's been a very long time coming, but it does appear to be getting built from scratch and that's going to take more time than most camsites using an established platform builder.
That's pretty much the only beef I have with it, too. If there was no putdown/comparison to the other major sites, I probably would have had a better first impression of it and would want to advertise and support it. I do like some of the features and look of parts of the site. But as it stands right now I'm just waiting to see how it turns out. I'm not wishing them ill will or anything, but nor am I cheering from the sideline as it gets built. It might be the greatest camsite ever when it launches, but by advertising itself as a platform to "replace MFC and chaturbate", it looses almost all respect from me. If you have to rely and putting other companies down AS your advertising, I can only assume you do not hold your own value.
Sell me on you, not on who your competing with. .I love MFC and am forever grateful for the life changing opportunities they have given me, so that tag line statement makes me get defensive of my home and never want to use it.

Without more detail, this part has me even more skeptical. I'm not gonna pretend to be well versed in international law, but generally once money is involved, don't you need waivers signed and all sorts of stuff so people that show up on cam don't come back and sue since you've now turned said broadcast into a commercial product? They said that the non-sexual/nude show options will be just like Periscope except people can tip

"International Law" = TOS claiming you won't break any "local laws". It's so easy to legally break international laws that way. It's the domestic laws you have to worry about. Hell, a well written TOS is why all the sites will accept SE Asian models, despite it being illegal in those countries. All the sites are protected because the Asian models agree that they won't break any local laws. If it's ever reported; ban!
Truth is, none (or very little) of the sites care if models are camming illegally on their platform as long as there's no blowback on them. Hell, that's very true for many entire verticals. Which law is all fiat to begin with, so I'm kind of in the same boat on that issue.
And "User Generated Content" has been monetized since the concept of UGC has been developed. I know that Europe doesn't have the same 2257 standards, and has more privacy standards for performers, but the equivalent of those laws is the huge legal hurdle with monetizing someone else's adult UGC.
Any further intellectual property legal issues would be more of a French thing, and I'm not really on top of EU intellectual property laws.
I take it you're not referring to the one on the founders twitter page?

Also I think Chloe is French-Canadian, not French, so she'd be likely hosting the site in Canada, if that's what you meant at the end.
I thought MFC still banned models from certain Asian countries? I could be wrong.
When people talk about "Asian" models, they're mostly talking about the Philippines. MFC used to have a separate Asian page, with almost(?) exclusively Filipina models. In May 2011, MFC suspended the creation of new model accounts from there, and then closed the Asian page a few months later, moving only highly-rated models to the main site.
Chloe makes no secret about being from Quebec, or even from Montreal. She does block us, I believe, since I've never seen her on live cam. I hope they're planning in instituting blocks once the site goes live.
I understand the hype over this new site. But I am curious about one thing. Has anyone seen any mention of a time frame for it? Does anyone even know if it's planned to be running in weeks, months...are we looking at 10 years down the road?
I know everyone likes to talk about the public camming, and the openness, and being built by a camgirl...and all the other things abuzz on twitter. But it just seems like it's way too early to be hyping up what so far amounts to nothing more than a few short video clips posted to a personal web page and a 'very' few other place holder sub pages. I really see no infrastructure made that backs up any of the hype. So I'm guessing this is a long freaking time off from being ready for camgirls to go live streaming on to make an income?
Anyone actually heard anything different?
I can see how responsive is important for the end-user, but I've never really understood everyone's infatuation with being able to host shows from a mobile phone. Maybe it's because I'm out here in rural Colorado where reception is shit and it would never really work in this state unless you were in the Denver Metro Area. Even with a wifi connection, it's not going to be nearly as fast as if there was an ethernet connection.
I guess I can see some application for streaming from the outdoors, but that's really the only circumstances that I'd see that being of value. Hell, even the fact that you've got to hold the phone the entire time seems awkward.
Also from rural CO and can TOTALLY attest to this. Reception is a living nightmare in my area.
Also, on a separate note, I've honestly only ever heard one mention of this platform (albeit, outlining aforementioned problems) but I agree that it's pretty ambitious (read: awesome) that a model is working on breaking into the business of creating something to this effect.
Guess my reaction is a bit of a mixed bag..
Though I feel some members can get a bit ridiculous with names, some of these banned words for usernames I feel are a bit much. It's just asking for members to try and have their names "disguised" in leetspeek or misspelled just enough to get through sensors.
