Yeah lets talk about forum habits/trends that annoy you

-people spreading inaccurate information
-people thanking posts with inaccurate information
-people pretending like their opinion is fact and then getting mad when someone has a different opinion
-people preaching about whatever and then doing the exact opposite of it while acting holier than thou
-the way some people here thank any post by a model even if it is innaccurate or just bad advice
-noobs acting like they own the place after a few posts using words like we and us
-people ganging up on others that don't share the same opinion
-models that joined and didn't even post once before using the ACF models that are online thread, might be weird but whatever
-noobs that want everything handed to them
-people that join to ask a vague question that don't reply after the initial post
-replies like "this" or "I agree"
-poor spelling, I suck at this but I at least try to make it understandable

So what are some annoying things you have seen here or at any other forums.

Startups using the forum to advertise obnoxiously, while contributing nothing else to the forum.
If they could do it professionally and accept criticism, it probably wouldn't be so bad.

People coming to use ACF as a personal soapbox for their "OMGZ I got scammed!" or "I LOVE THIS CAMGIRL HELP ME GET HER TO UNBAN ME" or similar.

Lmao I think you covered all of it lol. My biggest issue is the ganging up on others. #camgirlmafia

Unearthing super old threads. It's commendable that someone actually uses the search feature, but most of the time their additions aren't relevant contextually.

This is more for technical support forums I occasionally help out in, but people who ramble on for about the length of a novel when asking a question.

The most annoying thing, for me, is when veteran models give newbies great advice and they don't follow it.

I'm sure many of us wish we had those resources when we were first starting out.

This is one I haven't seen on this forum, but I feel like it can really be such an uncomfortable game.
There's this one game I see a lot called "Fuck or Pass". I know I can ignore it, but the few times I've wanted to play, I noticed if I said pass, I'd get these harsh messages from people saying how rude I was for passing them up...

o_o
'kay.

I agree about the whole "I WAS SCAMMED" bit. ACF is a great forum. No drama needed darnit. >.<

I have to agree with this, it's not easy having a different opinion around here without a bunch of people jumping you. It's almost never the case of one person reacting and other people thanking that post, seems like everybody needs to get in, even if someone apologises, it's often not enough.
This is often new members who don't get the vibe of the forum yet, and are being scared away instantly. unless they have big balls and stay, but then they already have a foul point in everyone's book. (like bringing up someone's 'bad' post in another thread while it really has nothing to do with each other) hard to come back from that.
I am full aware that some posts are way out of line, so this obviously doesn't apply to everything.

In general for this forum I find attacks on specific groups of models from a particular background particularly annoying. Models in my experience are more the same than different, no matter where they learnt to be one from.

Being somewhat annoyed by wrong opinions, complaints of others/ the world and so on is what makes a forum worth being on... Sometimes everyone else is simply wrong and unsympathetic, sometimes you find yourself agreeing with almost everyone, either way you can learn something from that.

Kinda similar to this(not really, kinda the opposite in a way), models that have been camming for like a day or just people with a tiny amount of knowledge in a certain subject giving bad advice or pushing a extremely bias and uneducated opinion as fact.

Yeah I agree. This thread isn't meant to be a complaint about the forum, I would just leave if I didn't like it here. Just a thread to discuss things we find annoying and hopefully help to curb some of these things almost all of us here are guilty of at some point.

This might be more of a pet peeve in general but newbies posting topics with fifty questions in them, most of which are covered in the "NEW MODELS: Start Here!" threads. Basically when people come in expecting everyone to tell them literally every aspect of camming, but without even spending three minutes to look around or even say hello.

On the other hand, I've seen a lot of new girls join recently who have devoured all the old threads and read everyone's awesome advice, and then become really valuable and lovely forum members, so that is a trend that I hope continues :-D

Posting a new thread just to share a cute or funny video they found, with no real opening or need for an actual discussion to follow.

The way the thanks button is used by some. Just so silly and childish the way people use it sometimes. Guilty of it myself.

Not a problem here but mods that are ban crazy. Can't disagree with them or point out inaccuracies without getting banned.

Not a problem here but running funny memes or inside jokes into the ground after a few days.

Noobs that don't get a feel for a forum before they get involved.

The "Us vs Them" mindset some here have.

Dudes that join and post hilariously obvious shady shit.

Quad posting when the person could just reply to it all in one post.

Not a problem here but people that are in charge of a certain topic not updating it.

Being creepy or just being too big of a suck up.

Drunk posting/way too high posting unless it's hilarious.

Broken links in sigs or obnoxious sigs

Broken avatars

Me for complaining a lot

Heh, nice one

I’m also checkmarking myself on this. I’m aware much of my time is spent within the “Most annoying…” or “pet peeve” threads, or posting responses stemming from highly cynical thoughts. I also notice the amount of collective cynicism across the forum. Kind of an epidemic. While rainbows and butterflies posts don’t fly well with the most sardonic audience, it's actually beneficial for the overall health of forum. Sometimes we gotta check ourselves from allowing too much pessimism taking over.

(oh the irony of writing my response & where it's written)

This really isn't a trend, but more of a "stupid things people on forums say" type deal.

Context: Forum poster wanted help installing an extension in their browser. They claim to use three browsers (?!?!?): Two mainstream and one third party Firefox variant that I come to find hasn't been updated in like two years. The extension wasn't installing in the outdated browser. They're looking for a workaround.

Me: The extension isn't supported in third party browsers, contact the browser developer...yadda yadda yadda. Oh, by the way, that variant of Firefox hasn't been updated in several years. They've likely stopped developing it. You *might* want to use the ones that are getting security updates.

Poster: I have security software for that.

The only thing I personally think is "bad" (notice quotes, it's not bad... but leaves me questioning its justification) is when someone's view is against a lot of people's (especially models) that it goes "Post unicorn/my little pony to derail thread".

If you don't like/don't agree - just don't post? If someone is just left rambling to themselves, they stop posting.

By intentionally derailing (to try and annoy usually) the person by "showing how little we care" - you're not only doing precisely the opposite, you are also, effectively, bullying/stifling discussion because you don't like what you read.

If what they're doing is against the rules, Amber will lock it. If she thinks they've stepped over the line, she'll ban them. If she's done neither, then why are we deciding who should be bullied into silence/exiting just because we don't agree with what they're saying. In the real world we all care about "Freedom of expression/speech" - but online, only if it doesn't annoy us.

First time I saw it I chuckled; it was amusing. The second time I thought "why...", and since then I think people need to just move on from the topic and leave it alone - you don't have to have the last say if you disagree with someone and we don't all have to agree.

I know most people need "teh w1nz" on the internet, but... you really don't :p

How about asking for advice and being angry when you get honest answers.

This applies to any type of advice that is asked on the forum. It's so annoying that people get offended with answers to their challenge...YOU ASKED FOR HELP! DUH!

I'm all for freedom of speech and people expressing themselves authentically. But don't stand in the kitchen if you can't take the the heat!

Getting pretty pissed at the new (verified) models who make tons of new topics to share (bad) advice when we already have active topics with much better advice from veteran models.

Learn your way around the forum before ya try to be the big girl on campus.

When someone's signature link goes directly to their chatroom instead of their profile, especially with zero indication. Like Amber has separate links for her's which is cool, but when the text is just "MFC" I assume it's for their profile. It always results in me going "Ahhhhhh!!" (especially if I'm signed onto my model account) and then clicking "back" frantically.
