You have no idea how much this has helped me. I just started camming a little over a week ago and it has been very interesting. I wish I found this information before I lost my "New Model" status. But I'm determined to do my best. I have a lot of plans of how I want to do things, and I just wish they weren't plans when I started but actually put into action. I think it really would have helped.

so happy to have found ACF it been a wealth of guidance through this beginning time. I def need to set new goals and standards and really put full intentions of where i want this to go. I love camming, just feel like im in that awkward stage of figuring out who i am on cam

Thanks so much for this. After being on MFC for almost 2 months now (first time camming), I kind of wish I had found ACF sooner. My cam score is super low and this week has been complete shit for me. After reading the first post in this thread, I decided to sign up for Chaturbate. I figured it's worth a try. I'm usually on cam for about 3 hours per day and when I make no tips I get discouraged. I've tried lots of things (dancing, games, outdoors, coffee shop, etc.) but have settled on nothing yet. My day is usually sitting on cam then resorting to my 2 regulars offline that I know will pay. Anyhow, thanks for this wonderful advice.

How do you check your camscore?

Just go look at your MFC profile, your camscore is listed right below your username on there. :thumbleft:

Also, might I suggest that you get verified as a model? I've noticed that you have a lot of questions that are answered at length in Models Only, and it would be great to see you in there! :)

I only hv a 494 camscore...... how depressing.

I had a 600, but when I logged off for a couple of days it went up about 20 points.

Mine is dancing around 600 for 2 weeks now. All tho 3 weeks ago it dropped till 400, and I only manage to get it back by sitting 24/7 in PM (off-cam) and also recording my first videos to sell and also selling all the staff which was already there.
Interesting thing is - I kind a make people want to chat with me even when not being on line. All tho its doesn't reaaaly help as much as I wish.
Anyway...

GREAT! AMAZING! and MORE GREAT THANKS TO Amber and all those models, who share their stories and advices here.
First because its really helpful, but you already know that. :-D
And second and more important - its really makes me feel better.
All this half-a-year days I was checking out top-models rooms, profiles, scores, etc and never ever had any idea on how is that all happens from the start. Now I am starting to understand and also I start to feel the best for those models! And I know that I would never ever again get my nervs over any other problem on cam, cause I will not read some advices from those people, who is only known for "Do ___ now, and I will tip you") Internet is full of those fake-advises everywhere. And I was visiting ACF many times before only to get a simple answer on a simple question I had at the moment. Unfortunately I wasn't really looking into all the best info here. I was only asking google. And google gives you several links, which is looks the same - simple "not really" answered question. And I am so happy that I suddenly decide to do my registration here and look closer.
Actually I am here now for 9 hours straight! WOW! I got to get some sleep.. . But to excited and too many new ideas dont let me go.
I wanna hug every Model here (if you dont mind, Ladies) for the best and friendly support)
Damn I love to be here!

Thank you SO much for this forum! It is great to know that girls are looking out for one another here. -Heather

It's been helpful...Just a question, to all the models: did someone of your parents, friends and so on ever find out you're a cam girl?
I know that one day I'm going to face it, but I'm wondering what I'm going to say lol

Im 21 and I go to school full time so I live with my parents. My mom has walk in on me webcaming before I wasnt doing thing bad just sitting there in my bra but I dont think she know. I really need to lock my door lol also I dont have a job so my parents kind of wonder where the money coming from so I had to lie and tell them I been baby sitting. I wish I can tell my family about webcaming how its not all about sex but they are crazy Christian. The only person in my family who know is my Cousin who the one who got me to start web camming. But for my friends all of them know I do this. I actually got some of my friends to do it with me. I have alot of guys friends and they think its the coolest thing. They always ask if they can watch me to it. The only problem with people knowing is they can talk a alot of shit. every time me and my ex fought her called me a " vira hooker" or a "hoe". My problem is when I first met someone and they ask me what I do for a living what doI tell them?

Banning people who don't chat in your room...don't do that.

Some models will tell you it's rude for a member to not be chatting if they're in their room. If that person wants to be quiet he should perv from the lounge, or some other reason. They're entitled to their wrong opinion of course.

Life is more complicated than that. That person may be shy or just not feel like talking that day after having something go in his/her life. One day they could get over that shyness. Maybe they see some conversation they feel they can finally pipe up about because it pertains to something they know about. Whatever, you will NEVER know what it takes to suddenly make that shy person who has never talked or tipped in your room come around and become a tipping member.

And honestly if they are sitting there quietly are they really harming you in any way? If nothing else it raises your room count so you appear higher on the homepage for people who sort that way. Many do.

And just one more entirely plausible scenario. Let's say a person normally does tip, and normally does talk in your room. But as is so often the case in life, that person just has moody days where they don't feel like talking, or being bothered with feeling compelled to tip to help the count like they do all the time. Or perhaps that person just wants human background noise while they're doing their homework for a summer college class they're taking. So what do they do? They create another account that they don't tell anyone else about. That way the model doesn't know it's them, they don't appear on every other member's friends lists and don't get inundated with PM's all night long when they are trying to do other life stuff.

If you get annoyed at that quiet person sitting there not doing any harm to you in the least and ban him for not talking in your room, well, you've just annoyed the same person who actually does tip you quite often on one of his other 8 accounts. Smooth move.

Just a random plausible scenario that I totally made up there and is in no way related to me in real life in any way shape or form.

Yes, for some of us, it just takes time. Like a lot of members have said in another thread, many of us start perving mostly for the entertainment value rather than the social interaction.

During the first 9 months I was in a particular MFC model's room, I think I said a grand total of 5 words in public chat. The first few times I visited this model's room was because she was doing a show that put her high in the "Most Popular Rooms" list and because she had a nice avatar. After a while, I was there maybe 1 or 2 times a week, but her chat room was mostly in the background while I browsed the web or looked at other rooms. I barely paid attention to chat and couldn't tell you who the room regulars were. I tipped every time I was in the room but it was nothing to get excited about, just a few 20 token tips and an occasional video purchase. I sent no PMs, other than to reply with a thank you after downloading a video, and wrote nothing in tip notes other than to say hello or goodbye.

However, even without paying much attention, I started noticing a number of little things I appreciated about this model: she always seemed thankful for her tips, her video prices were reasonable and she delivered them promptly, she wasn't visibly upset at her regulars when it was a slow night, she was more than fair about counting tips toward the topic and carrying over excess tokens from one topic to the next, ...

At some point, I decided she had become my favorite model, and so I hung out more. It was only at that point that I started paying attention to chat, and yes, participating. And only then did I figure out that she was also a smart, talented, and interesting person. So now, I'm in her room every day and I tip much more because I enjoy being in her room a lot more.

Yes, it's nice seeing new members come in, tip big off the bat, and make a big impression in chat. However, I've noticed these members aren't necessarily the type that'll hang around long term. Some of us are just slow and need more time to warm up. We don't need the extra attention, but don't be so quick to write us off. :)

A few random things that I think could help new models. Might have already kinda been brought up.

Don't do anything you aren't comfortable with. You will see models offering and doing a bunch of wild shit you won't be comfortable with. Don't feel like you also need to offer these things to stay competitive.

Try to be original but understand that it has mostly been done before. Don't try to take credit for something that models have been doing since like 2008. Camgirls have been using fuck machines, playing all sorts of games, doing public shows, and everything else you see on mfc way before whichever model on mfc is claiming to be the first to do it.

Don't waste time on trolls. You might think you're being funny and some guys in your room might enjoy it but you will turn off a lot of customers. You might even unintentionally insult your whole room. Usually best to just ban and keep it moving.

Don't waste time on guys that treat camsites like dating sites. Not as many of these guys as trolls but they are still present. Simply tell them you don't date members. Don't become so delusional that you start to think that all members want or would even be willing to date you. Keep in mind that the majority of people at camsites don't even want to talk to you. In real life, don't be mad or surprised if a guy is turned off by you being a camgirl. This is normal. Most guys won't want to have to deal with all the sacrifices and potential drama that could come from dating any type of sex worker. Don't be surprised if you lose (shitty)friends. Camming can be a very isolating job but it doesn't have to be. Don't be afraid to tell your friends, a real friend probably won't care.

Treat people fairly but don't treat them equally. Don't give basics the same kind of attention as the guys that are tipping you. Don't feel like you owe the guys tipping so much attention that it prevents you from engaging with new customers. Don't be afraid to lose tippers, some just won't be worth it to you. Don't take for granted or start to rely on certain tippers.

Don't try to convince yourself that something immoral is ok or normal. If you choose to pretend to fall in love with members to try to make money, just accept that this is a shitty thing to do and continue doing it. Don't do mental gymnastics to justify poor behavior, convincing yourself that something you know is wrong is somehow ok is unhealthy. Better to just be honest with yourself rather than constantly trying to rationalize.

Don't brag about what you make. You will look really silly to some and to others you'll like like a douchebag. Don't convince yourself that camming is the only way you can make a good living. Plenty of opportunites out there even without any education. Don't feel that once you haved cammed that you're not going to be able to find a "normal" job. Camming will obviously close a lot of doors but it doesn't mean that all you can do anymore is sex work.

Don't be paranoid but be aware that once you join any camsite your information can easily be obtained. A stalker doesn't need to be some leet well known hacker on the deep web to be able to get information. He could just be some bum with zero skill that downloaded a program once it made its way to a public hacker site. Realize that the chances of this happening to you are slim.

Don't talk shit about or act better than other models.

You don't need to have a Twitter account or do any social media if you don't want to.

If you find yourself hating it or it just isn't as empowering or fun as you thought it would be, quit. Camming isn't for everyone.

This is such a helpful post for a newbie like me. gives me a better insight of what to expect, what to do and what not to do. what kind of profile photo do you girls prefer? does the photo play a big role in attracting more attention? ;)

I've just signed up about a month ago with mfc, I really want to do well. I'm not shy and am happy to chat about anything, as well as disrobe, play or whatever, but what I want to know, and I've looked hard but can't find this info anywhere, how do dudes tip with tokens, and better yet, how do you put a tip jar on your profile like other girls have, especially the ones so people can tip you with tokens even when you're not there? Also, how do I sell videos? I see people doing that, but how how how? I'm sure it's not anywhere on the MFC site, I've been looking!

I'm an escort in New Zealand where it is 100% legal and have a blog about that amber-ohara.com with lots of stuff about sex as much as anything to do with sex work, and maybe people on MFC would find it interesting. I'm over here in New Zealand and have NZ blocked as a region, so it's not as if anyone can book me as an escort through MFC, but will I get banned if I put a link to my site??? Or should I start a new one for cam work like some of the models have??? I have so many questions.

My MFC is different to my escort identity (amberohorny on MFC, amber o'hara as an escort) and I have wigs to wear on MFC which make my face look quite different, whereas as an escort I advertise as a natural redhead, obviously I work without a wig, and in New Zealand, most escorts have no faces or blurred faces in their photos, including me, so even though you can see my hair you can't tell it's me.)

Any advice gratefully received. xx

all the answers you seek lie hidden deep within the secret section of this forum called 'models only' you should get verified and invest a few hours to read a lot of threads, there's so much info.

here's how to get verified https://www.ambercutie.com/forums/viewt ... =24&t=1696

(both selling videos and the tipjar are hosted elsewhere (imgur for graphic, dropbox for videos) and you simply link those images to the offline tip page, or to your MFC mail where they can order a video. it's fairly simple coding, but everything's explained on this forum)

I'm not sure how often this happens, but in my first 30 seconds ever broadcasting on MFC it happened to me:

Be wary of female MEMBERS (non-models) that message you, asking you if you're sexually in to women, requesting that you look at their profile to tell her what you think, wanting you to add them as a friend and PM, claiming to be bisexual/gay. This can seem very inviting, especially as a brand new model without any existing female comrades on MFC to turn to for support or just to chat about things. Though you shouldn't immediately jump to this conclusion, these members can actually be males posing as females in order to get more of an inside-scoop girl-talk lesbian kind of relationship with models. Although usually men pretending to be women online will use unrealistically beautiful photos to steal and imitate, clever ones will use more normal looking women, the kind that we might especially want to root for because they're the "underdog".

Note: I am not talking about genuine female users that are interacting in group chat, paying for shows, etc. and going with the flow of the room.

Things that tipped me off about this person: She private-messaged me instead of group chat even though I explicitly vocalized that the PMs were overwhelming me. She claimed she didn't want to alert the others in the chat of her gender, because they would flirt with her, which I thought was logical. However, in her profile, she states that she wants to be a model on MFC and is scoping out the place to see how it would be. It's likely (though not certain) that a true female looking to be a model for these exact customers would be okay with the group knowing she's female to experience these interactions on a small scale. It would actually be a great way to dip her toes in.

Now, alternatively, if this is a heterosexual male under the guise of female for the purposes of sexy talk with females, he is definitely not going to want to be in a room of guys that think he's a she. He doesn't want male interactions / flirtations.

Clue #2 was how many models had already commented on her profile supportively, "I'll definitely friend and PM you. You're beautiful. You should definitely become a model on here!". When I glazed over her request to be friends / PM with a response of, "You're gorgeous. You should model. Thanks for stopping by my room. Take care!" she came back with "Oh, but, I would reeeeally like to chat over PM with you. Please add me as a friend". It just was all too fishy. It's not like she had no other girlfriends on there and she was alone and scared of being in the big bad cam world, in need of a friend. Fishy, fishy, fish-fish.

Ultimate way to test out whether a female member of this type is a clever male trickster is to ask her, "Hey, this will be fun. I'll make you a fan-sign welcoming you to the site if you do the same for me!" If she never responds or comes up with an excuse then you have your answer (and should consider reporting her, though I don't know that there would be sufficient proof). Note: Some people with fake online identities actually know the person whose photos they're stealing and can even get them to do a fan sign, but it's on the far less-likely side.

I just wanted to say thank you for this thread!

I am looking to become a camgirl within the next few weeks and this thread as well as others have helped me understand what I need to do to prepare. I am very excited to start going live!

I am sure I will have many questions as time goes on. I also look forward to looking at the cam girl threads once I am verified.

Thanks again everyone!

If you ever find yourself doing an outdoors show during the daytime, consider trying your built in cam.
A model online just now had been using a C920 but then flipped over to her laptops built in. In the bright sunlight it actually looked way better than the 920. Surprised everyone.

I am actually curious about this too. I know that some people have visited my room in MFC just based on my avatar, but I have a feeling that many have been detracted by it as well. Initially, I thought I was being unique and clever (I think I still might have been onto something), but now I'm thinking I need to alter my idea a bit. So, how big a role DOES our avatar photo play? (btw, I am undergoing the model verification process...can hardly wait to get into the models-only section!) Cheers to my fellow camgirls who are keeping this forum running!

This is kind of for veteran models too since I see this quite often.

I just wanted to point out something about posting the link to tip you on myfreecams.

Many of us on here know who you are and what your model name is on mfc. However if you're doing a promotion (photos, videos, other sale stuff) and you post that link to go buy it, some new people on here, or on your twitter, may not know your model name. When they click that link, if they have zero tokens this is all they see. There's no clue as to who you are on mfc associated with that link, unless the person clicking has tokens beforehand.

I wish MFC would put the models name the link goes to right on that page, or even a link to that models profile as well, so it would be more apparent. That would probably be a good idea for models to suggest by the way.

But until they do just be aware if you don't also put your model name or a link to your profile with that link, they may have no idea who you are.

This is useful information but I think that it's also important to note that if the model is providing the right link, it will show the option to tip her. It should have her name already filled in, as long as you have tokens. All a member would need to do is purchase tokens (if they don't have any) in order to have the name input for them. It would definitely be nice to have a more informative screen for those without tokens, though!

I noticed you recently thanked a post I made a few minutes ago, in which I provide a link to tip me, so I'm think that there's at least some chance that my post might have provided some inspiration. (Doesn't matter if it did or didn't!) But I know that when I click my link, for example, if I'm logged into my premium account that has tokens it will show my name at the top.

vUNeW4kl.png

I also would advise that a model have links to her MFC profile and other information in any sort of place where she would post a link for people to tip her!

To support your post, this thread will show models how to find the right link to use! Kradek even made an awesome "Tip Me Link" generator which should take most of the work out of things. :-D

Great post Jerry, I think that this is good info for models to consider!

So, I'm new. Very very new. I've only been a cam girl for a little less than a month.
But the biggest thing I see is, it takes time. Creating a good brand and following just takes time. Yes it is very discouraging at times. Sometimes you want to throw things. But it's all about patience. You will develop a following, and you will start to make money. The girls that end up failing out of the cam girl world are the ones that give up or just loose their shit while on cam. It's mostly attitude and persistence.
