This is the reason I put no prizes or anything of value involved in this league. It's just for a bit of fun competition between Internet friends.pg240 said:Who feels like you really know what you're doing in this endeavor? This is my first foray into the arena of fantasy sports, and I'm really pretty much clueless. After watching Monday night and cursing at a Houston running back when he didn't get me the point I needed for a tie (just 3 more yards!), I've decided to dial it back a bit. Seriously, I wasn't really all that stressed, and I do confess it makes it a bit more interesting to have a dog in the fight -- kind of like having a $2 bet at the track. But from week 2 on, it's all fun and games for me. A trade here or there if it feels right, drop a dude and add another if the mood strikes me, but mostly just let the points add or subtract as they may. First place or last place, win or lose, it's just about the fun. I've seen guys at the office get wrapped up in this stuff and always felt a bit sorry for them. I got a wee taste of that last weekend (extremely wee!), but I'm not going there. So hope I beat you, but I really don't care!

Don't worry about the ESPN projections. They thought I would lose by 10+ points at one time last week and I ended up winning by 20. :dance:JerryBoBerry said:pg240 said:Who feels like you really know what you're doing in this endeavor? I don't really have a clue what i'm doing. Just been having fun trying out different theories.
Truth be told I don't think I've watched a dozen football games in my entire life. But it's been interesting learning some of the strategies and talking with the other players. Been one i've been chatting with a lot.
I'm not gonna get upset about losing in the least. But if I do I might talks some smack about it cause I think that's what we're supposed to do.
My theory for this week was to drop the players that sucked and I added several from the free agents who scored higher points last week. Unfortunately ESPN thinks their projected points are lower so it estimates I'm going to do worse against SexySteph this week. We'll see. Their projections last week kind of sucked ass on a lot of teams so I'm not relying too heavily on that number anymore.
Wadded-up papers, banana peels, used Kleenex and used condoms. Enough "trash" talk for ya Fingers? :hello2:WildFingers said:"AmberCutie" This is the reason I put no prizes or anything of value involved in this league. It's just for a bit of fun competition between Internet friends.
I beg to differ. You are our prize win or lose. I thank you for setting up this league. Now if we could only get some Cutie trash talkin' going on that would be a bonus.

Did You Know: Lightning Kills Football Team
DID YOU KNOW? — BY GORAN ON 2011/09/30
Did you know that, back in 1998, all eleven members of a football team were killed by a bolt of lightning while all of the players on the opposing escaped unharmed?
The two sides were drawing 1-1 in the match in eastern Kasai Province (Democratic Republic of Congo) when the lightning struck the home team from the village of Bena Tshadi.
Strange incident lead the locals to suspect that some sort of witchcraft or wizardry was called upon during the game.
However, it was later said that one team had steel cleats and the others had plastic cleats.

That's why you trade with players to get all the players you want. We have one guy who's going for an all Bears team. :-DRogueWarrior said:I seriously thought about signing up for this when it was offered, but I have definitely enjoyed reading this thread.
I played fantasy football years ago, but since I have a rooting interest in a particular team I found fantasy difficult to balance. How could I root for particular players on my team's main rivals to do well when I wanted their team to do badly. It was too much of a conflict.
You all seem to be doing it right way........for fun.
So keep posting away and good luck to all.
