A newsletter to contact all your fans?

Recently, a model asked me to install a newsletter solution on her site. So I installed a newsletter form.
Now she can send an email to her thousands of followers for important occasions. (new manyvids video, new important link, etc.)
I told her to be very careful because if she sends too much newsletter (more than one per week) she may be backlisted by the email provider.
And you ? What do you think of such a solution to contact your fans?

I used to do it but gmail has gotten super strict and everything ends up in spam or promotions folder. Not worth the hassle anymore imo.
