First CD I owned was when my parents bought me Pearl Jam's Vitalogy and Aerosmith's Get a Grip for Christmas when they bought me a stereo.

First CD I bought myself was Beastie Boy's Ill Communication and Weezer's Blue Album. I was the coolest kid in 6th grade.

Yes. Yes you were.

Not a CD, but the first piece of recorded music I purchased with my own money was Triumph's "Allied Forces". Still one of my favorites.

Nothing to groan about, Jessi! They were (and still are) fucking amazing. I actually have this album cover covering my back. I mean, seriously... the Used... can't get better than that.

Not sure if this is meant to be the first CD or the first music media (IE an album for us older folks) so I will cover both.
;)

First CD was Springsteen Born in the USA and Foreigner 4. Took both in on trade for some herb before I even had a CD player. Can't remember what the first disc I actually purchased was but guessing it was either Zep or Floyd.

Now WAY back before that was the first music purchase that I can remember which involved joining one of the music clubs when I was about 12 or 13. It was one of those deals where the first 6 are a penny then you buy another 4 at regular price of $9.95. At that time about the cheapest you could buy an album was about $7.95 not counting cut outs so for me it was still a good deal. So my first 6 albums were;

Rush-2112
Kiss-Love Gun
Kiss-Destroyer
Peter Frampton-Frampton Comes Alive
The Who-Live at Leeds
The Beach Boys-Endless Summer

And I still have them all too.
:thumbleft:

Before any of that was the 45's but I could not tell you which 45 was the first one I ever bought. And I still have those too.

Technically there's a third. My first thought on reading the question was '$1000 for a 1 year at 1.35% interest.' But then I realized that was not the type of CD in question at all. :p

Ha, my bad! :woops:

I honestly don't remember for sure what my first one was. I 'think' it was a country western compilation cassette tape. Pretty sure it had Wolverton Mountain on it and other fun type songs.

If you had asked which was my first book I bought I could respond assuredly.

First LP was "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player" by Elton John. I was 14.

It took me a long time to switch to CDs and I think my first was "Songs for Drella" by Lou Reed and John Cale.
