I'm thinking about getting into camming. I have a pretty great body and I'm adventurous, but I don't want my face out there. I don't want to be recognized. Can I get into camming if I wear a mask to keep me anonymous? Is it ok just to chat with people on the computer without using my real voice to talk?

Short answer: no. If you want to be a camgirl you need to fully recognise that you WILL be recorded, people WILL see your face, etc. Many sites have rules against always being masked, and even if they didn't, camgirls who never show their face are rarely, if ever, successful. Entering this industry means giving up anonymity. Further, models who only type instead of talk are rarely successful either. So much of this job depends on the connection you build with your fans, which can't really happen if your main focus is not connecting with them.

In short: NO!
Faceless, voiceless models have a MUCH lower earning potential; guys like to know what they're looking at and who they're talking to! Bottom line is that if you're not comfortable with A.) having your face/naked body on a camsite for anyone to see, B.) your feed being capped and spread around the internet, C.) your ass being on the internet forever, and D.) potentially being recognized in public by someone who's seen your cam, then camming is NOT the career for you. It sounds harsh, but trust me here, the money you will earn being a faceless/voiceless model will never be enough to make you feel 'comfortable' with your nakedness being on the internet. It's hard enough being a camgirl without getting in your own way or having hangups about the job in general.

I think you'd really struggle to make any money that way. It's possible there's a niche for something like that but you'd be alienating 99% of members straight out the gate :twocents-02cents:

I'm just getting started, also. I don't really like the look of most masks I've seen, for general modeling purposes; it's something that works more for an entire character, like Leia Down does.
I'm not sure I could get masks to work for me, even though creatively making my face less recognizable would be great.
I've seen before/after make-up pics of porn actresses, and thought I could do a similar transformation...but I have the double-edged sword of sharply defined features even sans make-up.
I did see some beautiful masquerade make-up work online. Pinterest is a beautiful thing. That might be more my style.
I don't know a lot admittedly, but I would think it was necessary to show your face for the simple reason of the site you are on protecting itself. To sign up as a camgirl you have to provide ID that proves you are of legal age. If you wear a mask, you can't even prove you are the person that signed up for the account. Maybe someones 17 year old sister stole an ID to get on cam, etc. I get cosplay shows, but hiding who you are seems like it wouldn't work out in the long run.

A lot of sites require you to show your face at some point, including MFC. That being said, MFC has a feature that lets you block areas to keep your local pals from seeing you. Also, camgirl shows are protected by DMCA. Watermark everything, even your publics using manycam, track your cam name carefully, and report the hell out of posts that distribute your content without your consent to get them taken down.

Considering that masks are considered to be a very specific fetish, it would be hard to build up yourself as a camgirl from the start that way.
That's not to say that it can't or won't happen, but camming is not easy money for the vast majority of us that try it. But one way you could try, perhaps make clips on clips4sale, build up a following that way, offer cam to cam time for money. You'd have to build up your own set of clients since most sites do not allow masks, and you'd have to keep in mind that this would end up being a side income rather than something to rely on.
