True, but fairly sure most sites that do aren't as old as them.
I mean there's LiveJasmine (tends to have a bad rep) and Cam4 (doesn't have any features really from what I've understood.), but yeah pretty sure it's mostly due to a better reputation, giving features and being around for a long time.

As for a viewers, right now there are 30+ CB rooms with more than 1,000 viewers. Right now MFC has 0 (although as soon as Sageness mounts the monkeyrocker that will soon change

There is no question in my mind the MFC treats their models better than CB. As far treating their members, I think it is pretty much a wash. I like that CB has couples, I like the community aspect of MFC much better.

From a model's perspective, MFC is awesome for a multitude of reasons. The payout is the best you can get from a non-indie site, the rules are pretty lax in comparison to other camsites, we're allowed to interact with our members offsite, there aren't "accidental bannings" happening on a daily basis, and the atmosphere is largely a social / community one. Payout within the US is VERY reliable via direct deposit. MFC is also pretty good regarding quick communication to models' immediate concerns, the company provides fun merch and lavish events for us at conventions, and the people who run the site are incredibly personable and easy to talk to in meatspace.
From a member's perspective, I'd guess that it's more popular because of the vast number of models, the ability to talk offsite, and the more social/community aspect of the site. Sure, there's lots of sexy stuff and hardcore shows, but at any given moment there's more talking and dancing and games going on throughout the site. Also there aren't ads all over MFC. I'm not a good person to definitively answer from a member's perspective, though.
If we're talking about traffic, CB totally wins with numbers—that said, I'd bet money that MFC has more active tippers than CB does, and that the average tipper spends more on MFC than they do on CB.

I always get Chaturbate (and Streamate) pop ups when I visit porn sites for science and no other reason. I assumed that was at least part of the reason for the traffic differential. CB is also the site I see dudes on Reddit talking about for watching free cams (funnily enough, despite MFC's name). CB always seemed to have more of an amateur vibe and thus more traffic and less tips (in general).

The better a site treats its models, the more models the site will pull in. Which then kind of correlates to getting more premiums in the door because then there's a girl for everyone. More girls = a higher chance of a guy finding what he wants. Mfc is swimming in models, and it's a lot more social driven than other sites. On MFC members get an interaction with their girl that they don't get at, say, CB or SM. So, in a way, model side is always going to be important.
Plus, at this point MFC is so big that it perpetuates itself to some degree.

I don't know if "more popular" would be the right thing to emphasize. CB appears to have higher body counts. Maybe "best liked" would be better? I think MFC has:
* Better customer support
* Better tools to build community
* Looser structure and rules, which promotes building long-term relationships
Generally, MFC support has been far better than CB support. It is not that MFC is perfect, but I do get the feeling that they are at least trying to answer the questions they are asked. In one case I found a bug and reported it. They sent me a form letter and clearly had blown me off. I persisted. We finally got to the point where they understood my report and asked for screenshots. I gave them those. They wrote back that they were studying it. Two weeks later, with zero follow up from me, they wrote me an e-mail that they thought the problem was fixed and they wanted me to confirm it. You cannot ask for more. They actually tracked the issue and had good follow on support. To contrast, CB support feels like no one there is even trying. Support can take days to reply. Their replies are lifeless form letters that show almost zero investment in your question. I see the way they ban models and viewers with no warning given, and CB asks questions later (and sometimes does not ask questions). Then I see how difficult it is for the person who is banned to correspond with them to fix the situation. CB just feels very heavy-handed. You would have to say MFC wins the support comparison hands down.
In terms of better tools, MFC includes an internal e-mail system, so you can actually communicate with users. They give you a way to access your prior conversations with people ("Archives"). These are the kinds of things that help to build community by supporting communication within the community.

I personally like it most because it's not just sex. It's a lot of joking around and socializing. Usually people in your room are actually talking and laughing with you

...most definitely not, still as terrible after 9 years as ever IMO. Pvt based sites have much much better support, for members. A bad show is easier to police.

Um...she never said it was. Lol. You are really on a roll sometimes with these "Why is.../why does..." threads, so she was just answering your original question.
Of course Chaturbate isn't the only other public-based camsite, but they sure are the only one on here (that I know of) who has several posts and threads about models being banned for "looking underaged." Certainly not a good reputation to have.
As a member of cam sites, I prefer the interaction and accessibility of the site over the added bonus of adult content. If the interaction lacks, if the visual appearance lacks, if the available features lacks, and if the ease of use lacks, I won't frequent the site.
I feel that MyFreeCams condones a better community environment. It's easier to use in terms of chat and tipping functionality and it makes you feel better overall when you want to start communicating in a room or want to tip. Other sites, like Chaturbate, give you the feeling of having or needing to tip.

As a model I don't judge on traffic alone. Chaturbate has adverts which means it's basically clickbait. Sure you're getting the viewers, but as a model I care about quality much more than quantity. Sure you could say the quantity means there's more chance someone will pay, but that isn't necessarily true. It also ups your chances of getting capped. I've never worked on Chaturbate and probably wouldn't as I've heard so many bad stuff about how they treat models. I personally think MFC seems more fun and relaxed. The rules are straightforward, when I first started they weren't as much but they have changed it since. I like that they adapt to what the models want rather than just steamrollering with what they think is best. Also as a model you don't need to worry about coming up on adverts.

There aren't any dodgy looking adverts, you have all of your models right there, the profiles tend to be pretty creative and can tell you lots about a model. If you're looking for porn then it's easily accessible for free if you're not fussy on who you watch, or if you are fussy you can pick a girl to go private with or tip a girl for her public show. If you want a bit of community and fun it's there and if you want to get to know a girls personality then that's there too. In ways it's like reality TV but you get sexy times too. I haven't encountered other sites quite like it. It would be hard for me to say why it is better for members as I am an MFC model and meet members who seem to like the site more or haven't tried another one.

I can't speak for members but the only time I tried camming on CB I was ripped off straight away by a member who faked a tip (there is a way to use html in public chat!?). I think the fact that there are more models in MFC at any given time attracts more (premium) members. If the models prefer it, their clients usually does too! MFC has also been huge at different conferences/conventions and their social media is very active. Through their social media they build a huge community base!

From a member perspective the big difference for me between MFC and CB is the pricing of private shows, With MFC it is fixed, you go to MFC you know you have to pay 60 tokens per minute for a private. On CB you can find privates from 6 tokens per minutes and more, up to the model. I agree that MFC is more a social site and CB is more porn... in my view it is nice to have choice and I use them both....

I like them both. I'm new to both, but I appreciate what they both have to offer, and I've made decent tips in both. I've had over 7,000 viewers in CB before when I was in there with my fiance and I got quite a lot of tips despite being a n00b and not knowing how to set up any of the apps or bots.
