I am fairly silent during private shows (other than tipping) once the model and I have established what we want to do. I say “we” because even if it’s a normal request, I still ask the model if she is up for it that night, because if I can tell she’s not into it, I won’t have as much fun either.

Oh bless your heart. It is so nice to hear that some folks understand and consider that.
But I’m a chatter/flirter otherwise, so i often wonder if my regular models think my mood has changed during private shows. (It hasn’t ... I am just super cautious not to come across like I’m barking orders. I like to be respectful and not bossy.)
That makes sense, if a dude is chatty in public chat or PM, but then primarily silent for the show, I realize he is just jerking, and on a device where either typing one-handed is not easy, or he just doesn't like typing and jerking. A lot of models are really aware of that. Sometimes a guy will talk dirty, flirt and banter, for like a full 5-10 mins of a show. Then move toward lackluster, bored sounding responses. They try to hide it, out of being concerned for the model, but it's obvious when that is happening, at least to me (i.e. they came too soon, but want to give me time to). So it sounds like you don't need to worry. Sounds like you are just a garden variety stroking focuser, which is easy to recognize. Some dudes get off more on the dirty talk part
