NYTimes = slogans -pure brainwashing and carefully edited propaganda - etc is what i meant
Apologies. That may have sounded a bit harsher than I intended. Anti-communist/socialist remarks tend to trigger me a little.

What sources would you recommend to counteract this propaganda?

If you guys want another scoop of the week, it's a newer probe into the Clinton Foundation being headed up by US Attorney Preet Bharara. Look him up. He's not a republican, he has a rep for taking out corruption and he don't give a fuuug. He's one of the most renowned attorneys out there. Just check him for yourself.

He's heading this latest investigation of the Clinton Foundations shadiness into their New York office. You're not going to see this much in the news, shocking I know. But just find out who he is, know that's going on right now, and boom there's your story.

Yep, I've heard of him. Read a mostly favorable profile of him in the New Yorker, I think.

I googled preet bharara clinton foundation and the first page of results was all right-wing "news" websites. I then googled for preet bharara clinton foundation site:nytimes.com and preet bharara clinton foundation site:washingtonpost.com, and found nothing. The original story in the Daily Caller was published just a few days ago, on August 11, so maybe the MSM hasn't picked up on it yet, if it's a legit story. TBH, I'm not going to believe it until I see it picked up by a news organization without such an obvious hard-on^H^H^H^H^H^H^H anti-dem agenda. Call me naive.

Carlos Slim last time I checked pulled the strings of the puppet New York Times. He - Carlos- wants open borders cause is the way he makes money. how he makes money there I am not fully aware of other than from the phone cards illegals use but he has a lot of money must be more businesses.
Ppl with money and agenda often buy media which later brainwash ppl with slogans and various articles. A person who reads couple of articles might consider self well informed and makes statements like dude above - trump is just trump and he got to be eliminated cause he trump- or something other.
Withouth research and independent thinking and ability to draw own conclusions from many sources one is nothing more than a pawn in a game played by whoever currently is behind the media. The media not only posts writes whatever negative but withholds facts that could help draw ther right conclusions.

I know that Carlos Slim is the richest person in Mexico; he's been in the news for years. Showing him with the Clintons? What's the point? Both have traveled the world in connection with their jobs. I could probably find similar photos of them with just about any leader or philanthropist or rich person you could name.

"Carlos Slim last time I checked pulled the strings of the puppet New York Times." What does that even mean? I just checked, and he's not a member of their board. Is he a major stockholder? That must be it. He bailed them out during the 2009 financial crisis, in return for stock options, which he has exercised last year. So now, he's the largest shareholder. I admit, whether this affects their news coverage is something to keep an eye on. I generally would prefer not to see foreign ownership of American companies, but it's common practice.

Here's an excerpt from a story on breitbart.com from Trump back in February under the headline "Donald Trump on NY Times: ‘Very Rich Mexican’ Carlos Slim ‘Owns a Big Chunk of the Paper,’ ‘Has a Lot of Power Over the Paper’"

Donald Trump is offering a possible explanation for the biased reporting on him by the New York Times.

“The New York Times is not exactly positive to Donald Trump, I can tell you that, and I’m very strong on illegal immigration and the border,” Trump told Stephen K. Bannon, executive chairman of Breitbart News and host of Breitbart News Daily on Sirius-XM’s Patriot.

“We either have a border or we don’t. If we don’t have a border, we don’t have a country. These people are pouring through like swiss cheese, drugs are pouring in. The Times never talks about the drugs, they never talk about the crime,” Trump said.

There seems to be pre-existing some bad blood between Trump and Slim. Here's an article from CNN in July of last year:

Carlos Slim, the richest man in Mexico and one of the wealthiest in the world, dumped The Donald following his anti-Mexico rant.

"We can confirm that we were working on a television project with Trump that has been dropped," a spokesman for Ora TV, Slim's television production studio, told CNNMoney.

The spokesman did not say why the show was dropped. But Donald Trump touched off a firestorm when he launched his presidential campaign and said that some Mexicans crossing the border into the U.S. are "rapists."

Slim's spokesman and son-in-law, Arturo Elias Ayub, told Reuters that Trump's statement was racist and "totally out of line ... working with someone so close-minded was not going to work."

Slim is much richer than Trump, who claims he's worth about $9 billion. Through diverse holdings in media, telecommunications and other industries, Slim has amassed a staggering net worth of $68 billion.

NBCUniversal severed its ties with Trump on Monday, meaning that it will no longer air the Miss USA pageant scheduled for July 12. Trump jointly owned the pageant with NBC, until now. Also, Mexico decided not to send any contestants to Trump's Miss Universe pageant, which is also owned by Trump.

Trump tweeted on Tuesday: "I love the Mexican people, but Mexico is not our friend. They're killing us at the border and they're killing us on jobs and trade."

He continued, "We MUST have strong borders and stop illegal immigration."

Regardless of how one feels about the substance of the immigration problem, someone who wants to be president just doesn't publicly talk in such terms about another country, especially our southern neighbor.

Watch for this NY Times story coming soon: "US Attorney Preet Bharara died peacefully in his home after suffering a massive heart attack following a successful suicide attempt where he fatally shot himself three times in his head using his submissive, and not dominant hand, while suffering from a rare form of inoperative testicular cancer in his pinky toe."

Jill Stein is a conspiracy theorist
She's my back-up candidate. (...)
About Jill...I'm not too worried about conspiracy theory stuff at this point. I don't think her views alone would be enough to put an end to vaccines; and if she tried to get rid of our cell-phones, there would be riots in the streets. Saw her interviewed yesterday on one of the networks; she presented herself as a lot saner than the things I have read would suggest.

Jill Stein actually is not anti-vaccine, she's a proponent of it, she just thinks there needs to be more oversight on it, and in its current iteration, it's a simply being used as an easy corporate hand-out to giant medical corporations. Huge difference.

Johnson is a climate change denier
Technically this statement isn't correct either, but it's close to true. Gary Johnson has stated in multiple interviews that he believes climate change likely is real. He just thinks it's something that the market will combat on its own for the most part and it's not up to the government to intervene unless absolutely necessary. Personally I think that stance is unrealistic and an example of Libertarian pie in the sky ideology taken to the extreme, but it's significantly different then saying he doesn't believe in climate change.

Make note that he does state "the proper role of government is to enforce reasonable environmental protection".

https://www.johnsonweld.com/environment

Gary Johnson said:
The environment is a precious gift and must be protected. Governors Johnson and Weld believe strongly that the first responsibility of government is to protect citizens from those who would do them harm, whether it be a foreign aggressor, a criminal — or a bad actor who harms the environment upon which we all depend.

We need to stand firm to protect our environment for our future generations, especially those designated areas of protection like our National Parks. Consistent with that responsibility, the proper role of government is to enforce reasonable environmental protections. Governor Johnson did that as Governor, and would do so as President.

Governor Johnson believes the Environmental Protection Agency, when focused on its true mission, plays an important role in keeping the environment and citizens safe.

Johnson does not, however, believe the government should be engaging in social and economic engineering for the purpose of creating winners and losers in what should be a robust free market. Preventing a polluter from harming our water or air is one thing. Having politicians in Washington, D.C., acting on behalf of high powered lobbyists, determine the future of clean energy innovation is another.

In a healthy economy that allows the market to function unimpeded, consumers, innovators, and personal choices will do more to bring about environmental protection and restoration than will government regulations driven by special interests. Too often, when Washington, D.C. gets involved, the winners are those with the political clout to write the rules of the game, and the losers are the people and businesses actually trying to innovate.

When it comes to global climate change, Johnson and Weld believe that the politicians in Washington, D.C. are having the wrong debate.

Is the climate changing? Probably so.

Is man contributing to that change? Probably so.

But the critical question is whether the politicians’ efforts to regulate, tax and manipulate the private sector are cost-effective – or effective at all. The debate should be about how we can protect our resources and environment for future generations. Governors Johnson and Weld strongly believe that the federal government should prevent future harm by focusing on regulations that protect us from real harm, rather than needlessly costing American jobs and freedom in order to pursue a political agenda.

Protect the Environment. Promote Competition. Incentivize Innovation.

All of these points being made about possible corruption are great.....but I think the question we need to ask ourselves in November is "Who is going to fuck our country up less?

Anyway, here is this to watch in the meantime....

I had skimmed that, and read some more on it elsewhere too. Also about the wi-fi silliness.

At the end of the day, I came to the conclusion that regardless of how much truth (if any) it sprang from, the GP is preferable (at least on paper) to the Dem/Repub bullshittery.

There is a period of lag to consider. So the good news is it may not matter; we may have been fucked beyond all hope a while ago, and just haven't had time to realize it yet.

Was he really considered that much worse? I feel like they are on par with corruption Hillary has just been getting away with hiding it more? for some unbeknownst reason?
Ironic tidbit of History! Nixon had to turn in his resignation to then Secretary of State(and notorious war criminal) Henry Kissinger, who currently endorses Hillary Clinton. How is that scuzzoid still alive and ticking? he's like in his 90's... she should disavow bahaha...oh but of course she wouldn't because they're actually like BFF's that have frequently vacationed together... :sour:

I just read this. Hillary is exponentially more corrupt than Nixon...and I believe his resignation/impeachment hearings were 100% justified. Watergate was his only scandal and he had no knowledge of it while it took place. He was guilty for covering it up when he learned about it and then suggested using other branches of government to dig up dirt on his accusers (particularly the IRS). He didn't do it. He simply suggested it and the 2nd Article of Impeachment was for the Abuse of Power for suggesting it. The Clinton's not only suggested it. They flat out abused their power and used the branches of government to investigate their accusers in every White House scandal.

The Clinton's have been involved in corruption dating back to the 70's and evidence implicates Hillary was the leading force in practically every instance of this. There are too many instances of corruption and self serving actions by Hillary that there isn't enough bandwidth on the internet to document it all. Hillary is NOT a victim of a vast right wing conspiracy. She is deliberate and calculating in all of her actions. Truly a modern day gangster. Nixon, Carter, & Bush x2, certainly had their flaws and made poor decisions, but none has been as narcissistic/sociopathic as Hillary. I am not certain who I am voting for yet, but it will definitely be for the candidate that has the best chance of keeping her out of the White House.

I think it is both. I think she is crooked as hell, and there is a conspiracy by the right wing (which has convinced me it wouldn't be able to tell the straight truth in a discussion about whether or not water is wet).

That's the bad thing; listen to 49 lies, you're liable to just roll your eyes when the 50th thing they say happens to be the truth. Take that stupid body count, for example. Sure, it wouldn't surprise me to find out the Clintons had somebody knocked off. But I got really worked up about that shit years ago, and when I looked into it later and found at least some were bs, I wound up getting pissed off at myself for being gullible.

I agree out the wazoo about never voting for her though. Never never never. Hell no. Hell no. And one of the biggest reasons? I. don't. want. Bill. back. in. the. WH. period. Makes me want to throw up just thinking about it. Felt that way in 2008, feel that way now.

So today, I am hearing rumors that Trump is setting up for a news channel when he withdraws/gets his ass kicked. Makes sense. Just what we need, an even more delusional right wing media outlet for the whackos to get their gospel from. If there is a God, He is ignoring my pleas to strike me down with an aneurysm.

There was a bright spot today though. Listened to the Green Party town hall on CNN. It was a breath of fresh air. Afterwards I listened a little to Gary Johnson, and realized that in spite of my reservations about Libertarianism, a vote for him wouldn't be nearly as inane as a vote for Trump or Clinton.

Interesting listening to the town hall. Two things I have felt strongly for a long time now: 1) We should not be so stuck up Israel's ass, and 2) It is time to stop all these wars (covert and otherwise). You would think hearing a candidate state these things would make me feel good, but it didn't. Made me feel uneasy.

Here's an interesting article about Trump's efforts to insinuate that Hillary Clinton has health problems that would prevent her from functioning as president. The article seeks to debunk those claims.

Both Clinton and Trump have only released letters from their doctors testifying to their health (by contrast, John McCain provided his actual medical records).

Apparently, there are some oddities about Trump's letter, which a doctor explains in a blog post. It's quite interesting and worth reading. It just makes you wonder why a real, practicing physician would write something this amateurish for something that will get such wide exposure.

Finally, the article shows the right-wing "journalism" practice of seeding a lot of "controversies" using little to no evidence, hoping that the MSM will pick it up and run with it, or at least give it some exposure by discussing it. It's interesting to note that while Trump and his news outlets are putting these health allegations and conspiracy theories out there, to my knowledge there hasn't been anything negative about Trump's health from Clinton or the MSM.

Happy Birthday! Hope it is an awesome one for you! I get what you are saying. You definitely need a filter when you read or listen to any news about either political party. Does it rise to the "conspiracy" level? Guess that could be debated, but both sides definitely spin material to make their candidates look better and the opponent look worse. All the "birthers" cries about Obama's birth certificate is another example. I know people that used to live in Hawaii and don't question his birth based on his history there. So people shouldn't doubt that is where he was born. Did he attend Occidental and/or Columbia on a Fulbright Scholarship? There is a very distinct possibility he did and the truth will probably come out years after he has passed away.

I have liked a lot of things I have read and heard about Gary Johnson/Bill Weld. I consider myself to be a small "l" libertarian. I believe government has some legitimate purposes, but we definitely need to pull in the reins on their out of control growth. Hope they invite Green and Libertarian candidates to the debates. Be nice for the entire country to hear all perspectives...and not just the two spending hours bashing one another.

I think it does rise to the level on conspiracy, but I may not have a clear view of things. The majority of what I am exposed to is the likes of Hannity, Limbaugh, Erickson, Cain... It is an insane culture that seeks to offer mythology in exchange for totalitarian control of reality.

Do they sometimes get it right? Yes. That isn't enough though. They want to build a government completely free of liberal influences. Before they can do that they need to destroy the government we have now.

Sort of reminds me of a period I went through where I completely based my worldview on Keith Olbermann rants and PrisonPlanet.com.

I think it would be very interesting. Would like to see if the Libertarians and the Green Party would be able to rise above the mudslinging our two National Pigs have been doing for decades, or if they would just get labelled as CONSERVATIVE/LIBERAL and get sucked into it as well.

:haha:

Saw a thing yesterday in one of the politico blogs that said DOJ wouldn't indict anyone running for office once inside the 90 days till election window, unless it had major effect on the national security or safety of the US. I'd never heard of that before. Guess this pretty well lets Hillary off the hook.
Also, perhaps its time for an updated poll. I seriously doubt those 89 folks are voting for 'The Bern' any longer .

Well I am starting to sour on all this Trump bashing. Not because it isn't true though.

See, throughout the '80s and much of the '90s, I lived with no hope. But in my darkest times, the Trumps of this world spoke to me. They were always there at 3 a.m. to reassure me that there was more to life than poverty. They kept my dreams from completely dying.

trump.jpg

Now it's true that they offered a false hope. To which I would reply, sometimes a false hope is better than no hope at all.

I suppose if one's view of life is about amassing unearned wealth. I find wealth cool...in the sense, if I had it I'd enjoy it...and probably blow it in a short time...but to make it an idol...and a reason to "go on living"... I just find that kind of boring at best. Go on living because the sun is shining. Take a walk in a rain forest. Feed a wild duck. These are a few things to live for. The Trumps of the planet have the opposite effect on me.

HA! I remember the Tom Vu stuff. It always puzzled me how that guy could end up with all those babes on that boat in those heels [you never wear heels on a boat if you want to preserve the deck.]
Funny thing was that my folks did a bit of that paper house trading unbeknownst to me and did make a nice lil nestegg.

I miss those high-on-the-hip 80's bikini bottoms.

Never tried the real estate thing, mainly because I had a family member working in real estate who clued me in that it was never going to work in our local market. I did try an outrageously preposterous version of the Don Lapre classified ad thing, and managed to build myself a cash flow of exactly $0. Only landed one sucker, and I got a little sick of seeing him every day in the mirror.

Lol also bought into the "government auctions" crap. Went to a Post Office auction with $20 in my pocket, hoping to make a fortune. Word had got out by then though. The place was a packed madhouse. There were license plates from every Southeastern state in the parking lot.

So there were lots of junk you could bid on. I didn't stick around to fight for my piece of the pie though. When I saw the case with the Rolex in it, reality hit home; the minimum bid was several thousand dollars. I left a broken-hearted, demoralized citizen.

Think I voted Democrat that year.

Hillary didn't just vote for Iraq. She made her own Iraq. Libya is Hillary's Iraq and if she becomes president she will make more.

I have had years of experience in dealing with Hillary Clinton and have read thousands of her cables. Hillary lacks judgement and will push the United States into endless, stupid wars which spread terrorism. Her personality combined with her poor policy decisions have directly contributed to the rise of ISIS.

Pentagon generals objected to destroying the Libyan state. They felt Hillary did not have a safe post-war plan. Hillary Clinton went over their heads. Libya has been destroyed. It became a haven for ISIS. The Libyan national armory was looted and hundreds of tons of weapons were transferred to jihadists in Syria. Hillary's war has increased terrorism, killed tens of thousands of innocent civilians and has set back women's rights in the Middle East by hundreds of years. Having learned nothing from the Libyan disaster Hillary then set about trying do the same in Syria.

Hillary publicly took credit for the destruction of the Libyan state. On hearing that the country's president had been killed by her handiwork, she became wild-eyed and gloated "We came, we saw, he died!". In the momentary thrill of the kill, she had aped, of all people, Julius Ceaser.

Hillary's problem is not just that she's war hawk. She's a war hawk with bad judgement who gets an unseemly emotional rush out of killing people. She shouldn't be let near a gun shop, let alone an army. And she certainly should not become president of the United States.

We are in interesting times. Not only are we seeing the masses waking up to the reality of politicians & govt deceptions, but the trust of MSM is crashing like the Hindenburg for anything but local weather and sports talk.

still not certain on who I am voting for but I can tell you that it will not be Hilldabeast.... if for no other reason than the comment she made regarding the deaths of those in Benghazi.
"What difference at this point does it make?"

Not saying that she lied to the families of the slain but she has lied about lying and has been caught on multiple occasions doing so.

Ahh, Benghazi. There is where I come down on the side of the left.

Remember the Forbes article? I watched an intelligent, educated guy lose his freaking mind over crap in that piece that turned out to be bullshit. Utter contrived bullshit. Fiction. And when it got discredited, did his anger subside? No. He turned into one of those little mindless "When are we going to get answers about Benghazi?" morons. Idk, maybe his frustrations over how bad "Atlas Shrugged Part 2" turned out played into it.

Paraphrased...
Q: We thought the protests led to the attack. But that wasn't correct, and the American people could have known within days, and they didn't.
A: So what?

This is what people like Sen. Ron Johnson seek. A fucking soundbite. Something to share with their deluded, disinformed base, which starts to salivate at the mere thought that a blow might have been struck against evil liberalism with no critical regard for its actual value.
