When "Camgirls" Spam Camgirls

Of course I get spam for "single ladies in my area" etc. on some of my email accounts, but this email came to my personal account that is only used for Streamate. I don't give this email account out to really anyone or use it for anything outside of work.

I'm probably reading way too into this but it has me curious.

First off, reverse email search showed that the sender's name was really Adriana as well as giving me "her" full name, location, and social networking accounts. The website it sends me to ("personalcams.com") requires a "membership" to view any models of $39.95 a month (with a $1 2-day trial) but the website only has less than 140 models in total--online and offline.

Adriana22 is the #1 model online and the models don't change rank. Personalcams.com's twitter only has 192 followers and the website seems to have over half of Streamate's models, especially the more popular ones, but Adriana22 and many other models are not on Streamate.com. Personalcams.org is a mirror site for Streamate, but it doesn't seem like Personalcams.com is which leads me to believe that they are using stolen images from SM to scam people. I'm reporting it to SM, but I just found it strange. I also do not have a FB.

At first I thought maybe it was a studio or something, but I know which studio some of the models are from that are listed on that site and not every girl from that girl's studio is on it.

Look closely at the email. You see the double letter's in words where they shouldn't be? The extra periods? The transposed letters? Many more... Those are all done at random by a computer program so that each and every email is unique in some way. That way the main servers for google and yahoo and others are less likely to flag ALL of them as spam since they are not technically the exact same email.

My point was that I believe site is using camgirls from other camsites to scam people and the way the spam was set up is much different than the other spam, namely a real email linked to an actual account with the same name. I definitely know how to identify spam.

Ah, I missed that part of your question. My best guess is that it wasn't really from the camgirl. Most likely her email address was simply used to spoof the return address fields. It's quite common in spamming. It let's you reply to it, it's a genuine address. Just that person doesn't know anything about it.

I got 3 emails from "Adriana" Wednesday. All 3 from different email addresses but they all have the same text. She must be extremely busy with sending out all these emails, chatting with everyone on Facebook and hanging out in the clubs. :mrgreen:

It just doesn't seem like a typical affiliate to me, most of them mirror streamate.com exactly. This one only shows 30 models online and although some models are on streamate.com, a good number of them aren't streamate.com models.

I DMed @streamate about it, but he's pretty useless with knowing that kind of stuff anyway. He said it "look like an affiliate?" but he wasn't sure or something vague like that.

My point with this whole thing was the fact that it directed to a camsite that was using a few of Streamate's models, but not all of them like most mirrors and was using models not listed on Streamate was what seemed fishy about the spam.
