Hey there, I've been doing this for a few months, but now have my partner living with me and he doesn't know that during the day I'm on MFC. (And it's not something I want to tell him about.) I work from home for other things, so I have a cute little office area setup in a corner of our VERY open floor plan.

The problem is behind me is a long hallway with kitchen, etc. I've tested moving some light furniture around to block that space, or my desk around so the wall is behind me. I have a lot of natural light during the day, and I can easily add an extra lamp without being questioned.

What's the best way to create a fully functional setup with minimal effort or changes?

Thanks!! xo

I think you have bigger issues than your cam set up.

ETA: to not sound like a total asshole - lots of gals cam from kitchens bedrooms, houses. Dudes understand you can't have some massive set up and will see parts of your house. Lots of gals also use those room divider things : http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/70182191/ Passes as decorative and functional.

Some people don't understand this type of work. My "real" work is even hard for my parents to understand -- they still send me job ads everyday even though I do very well working from home in a well-paying industry (not this, other work.) Some people just will never be able to wrap their heads around something that is beyond their established values and way of living/working.

I love that room divider, BTW.!I have one of those cube bookshelf things that's about 6 feet tall I just scoot over behind me, and works really well - same idea!

unsolicited advice:
Of course people don't understand. That's the price you pay when you take this job. That's why so many of us get upset when we dont make a gajillion dollars.

You WILL get found out and I imagine the blow up of it being discovered that you were camming by your chosen partner will be bigger if they discover it by say ... walking in on you or finding recorded shows of you on the internet. I am not saying tell everyone you know you cam ... but you are choosing your significant other to be in your life and it seems so unfair to them to lie to them. If your partner will dump you and you value that relationship maybe you should be revaluating your priorities - relationship with this person or job instead of reevaluating your cam space.
TLDR: you're kidding yourself if you think your live in partner won't find out.
