OK so UK too.We had it in the UK a month or two ago! I was in Sainsbury’s walking out of the shop and I thought the shoplifting alarm on the doors had gone off
Down here at "the arse end of the world" we obviously do not need it.

Hmm. I was in Hawai'i when the false ballistic missile warning messages went out to every device 5 or 6 years ago. Not fun.Thanks. Obviously not a thing in Australia
You USA types have all the fun.
Yes for actual emergencies we have them but we don't do nationwide "we're all gonna die" emergency warning system testingHmm. I was in Hawai'i when the false ballistic missile warning messages went out to every device 5 or 6 years ago. Not fun.
And we got something similar, although confined to affected areas rather than widespread, with bushfire (wildfire for the non-Aussies) warnings back in the 2019/2020 disaster in my area.
I was a volunteer firefighter then, and the cellular networks went down fast when the fires swept through the local relay towers, so now we're seeing the emergency services in regional areas using Starlink fitted to vehicles as a communications node out in the field for wifi calls.
It was almost 6 months ago, I thought I'd disarmed it and my friend left it on. I received the alerts on 3 phones, friend zilch. We had it in the UK a month or two ago! I was in Sainsbury’s walking out of the shop and I thought the shoplifting alarm on the doors had gone off
If they'd tested it here on a national level though, it would have flagged where many of the issues were, before folk found out the hard way it doesn't work like it was intended toYes for actual emergencies we have them but we don't do nationwide "we're all gonna die" emergency warning system testing

heheh I do indeed think we live in the same country maybeEvery year they test our warning sirens this year they also tested phone alerts. ( I think I am not that far from @Wuggie )
I did not realise that I did.Hey, Ozzie. May I ask why you put the wink emoji at the end of all of your posts? Is it just your way of showing the other poster that you’re being friendly? I’m not bashing it. I was just curious.
It is certainly not being flirtatious or anything like that.
Flirting requires a tip!I did not realise that I did.
If I am being silly or a bit of a smart arse I am likely to put it.
It is certainly not being flirtatious or anything like that.
Exactly!Flirting requires a tip!
dated an aussie in highschool. the game asshole or aussie was played a lot in our friend circle.Exactly!
Plus, being Australian, I guess the "or being a smart arse" was redundant really (it is our national pastime after all)
I was wondering the same! Some people use it for irony so I think I often misread Ozzie's toneHey, Ozzie. May I ask why you put the wink emoji at the end of all of your posts? Is it just your way of showing the other poster that you’re being friendly? I’m not bashing it. I was just curious.
Generally speaking, my tone is always light-hearted (life is too short to be surly all the time). Of course if I am responding to someone who's being a dick, then all bets are offI was wondering the same! Some people use it for irony so I think I often misread Ozzie's tone
No it isn't...my life ambition is to end up as a grumpy old man...(life is too short to be surly all the time)
That got me in the feels LOLI love a wink emoji every now and again!
Although my usual one is:
FML
I plan on going the other way. I was an angry young man.. so....No it isn't...my life ambition is to end up as a grumpy old man...
That's a worry so if kids happen to walk past your house on st and are talking loud you can get banned? It's hard to control anyone walking down the st talking loudly. It could happen at anytime if you live on a main rd.That's a perfectly legit reason to ban a room.
It's really not. I've been on cam for 10 years on CB and never been banned for shit other people hear. Because I know the rules. That's a worry so if kids happen to walk past your house on st and are talking loud you can get banned? It's hard to control anyone walking down the st talking loudly. Like she said earlier, as soon as you hear it cut the audio or log off a second until it passes. That's a worry so if kids happen to walk past your house on st and are talking loud you can get banned?
