What do you think when people say "cum" instead of "come?"

I'm not singling anyone out. A LOT of girls do this and I see a lot of members doing it, too. Girls use it on twitter a lot when they announce that they're getting online: "Cum play!"

I see how it can get a member thinking about sex and since you're online, you're there to help with those thoughts.

But to me, I have always tried to shy away from using the word "cum" in this way. I guess I fall in the "I think it's pointless," category myself.

But don't go through my Tweets! I may have used it like that before!

I want to hear from models and members. What kind of thought goes into using it like that? Do you think it makes any difference at all?

I use it when I'm referring to sexy times or orgasming. I can see why camgirls would use the double entendre while tweeting, but honestly, I dislike misspelling and grammatical errors. So that would probably get to me if i see it often, or if I saw people using "cum" in normal talk. As in "Joe is cumming to the party." Same way how I cringe when guys say "come for me" instead of "cum"... It just feels wrong. :lol:

TL;DR: My need for correct spelling and grammar is being fickle about this.

Honestly, I feel weird when people say "come" in that sense. It makes me feel weird to say things like "Do you want to come to the store with me?" I know it's silly...just how I feel.

I'm not a fan of it since there's already such a lack of understanding of basic word usage out there. Someone will probably think it's correct. That said, it's so commonly used in the cam community that it's not worth getting annoyed about. If one of my male friends sent me an e-mail saying, "Cum over for some poker on Friday," I'd be a little creeped out though.

I think it's cute, when talking about sexy times. I think it can be playful! I sometimes use it in my room's topic ("cum join me!" or "cum play with me!"), because people will search for the "cum" tag and it can draw viewers in. *sneaky candy is sneaky*

I agree with HarmlessSquirrel though. I wouldn't want a rando friend saying "cum over" or something to me, if we weren't in any kind of sexual or playful relationship. That would weird me out!

I hate the use of the word for anything other than for male ejaculation. Women do not "cum". I prefer to spell it "come" for a woman. And as for using it like "cum see me online", well, any spelling error pisses me off even if it's intentional.

But.... saying that. Though I do hate it, members seem to be obsessed with it. So I spent a while trying to make a stand, but doing 'comeshows" weren't quite so popular. In Mfc land I use the word "Cum" even though I hate the use of the word. It's work, sometimes you just have to deal with it. Let's face it, men/members are obsessed with cum! Their own, other men's, women's imaginary semen which many men seem certain is real... No member has ever seemed impressed when I say "come". It's like I'm speaking a different language and everything gets lost in translation. Lots of things have changed since I started camming. I still don't write text speech (unless I'm trying to fit words into my topic or a tweet) something I absolutely despise and is pointless if you're not actually writing a text or something limited to characters you use, but I use the word "lol" again frequently! I hadn't used it since I was like 14/15, yet now I use it all the time.

I'm not sure the word "cum" being used incorrectly seriously bothers me, definitely not enough that I'll stop using it as a marketing tool, it doesn't make me angry seeing it, but it does bother me, it bothers me that I use it, it bothers me that others use it, I dislike the whole idea of what it represents. I always feel like a complete idiot typing it and usually back away from it. Writing "cumshow" is something I'm used to, but it took a while to get used to it, but I dislike what it represents. If I write "orgasm show" which is a far more correct word to use my shows are never as popular and members seem confused over what they're getting, even though I have never in my life "cum", so really "cumshow" is total false advertising, not that anyone has complained about my lack of genuine cum.
I guess it depends on the circumstance, who says it and in what way, sometimes the use of the word can be kind of funny, and yeah, I'm definitely swung different ways on this, before I cammed the crap use of the word did my head in, now it's background noise, annoying if I focus on it, but not something I really think about.

Ahaha edit to add, I just searched the definition of "cum" and this came up on a vocab site! The writer clearly doesn't like this word! Gave me a bit of a giggle hearing their obvious disdain!

Writing "cumshow" is something I'm used to, but it took a while to get used to it, but I dislike what it represents. Cum, when used as a verb, would mean to orgasm so technically saying "cum show" means "orgasm show" if that helps you while you're writing your topics.


I'm completely neutral to either word. I personally use "come play" but I'm sure there are times when I've used "cum play" in tweet form.

I'm in the "It bothers me, a lot!" corner. And not only when it comes to using the word cum outside of a sexual context ("cum see me online!" makes me shudder). But also when it comes to using it with the meaning "to have an orgasm".
You could say that my opinion doesn't matter at all because I'm not a native English speaker, but the word is still derived from "come". In novels, it's still spelled "come". In addition, in German you just use the German word for "come" and that's it. It's what feels natural to me.

Also, I've known "cum" as a noun rather than a verb for the longest time; meaning semen of course. That was long before I realized people use it as a verb for both males and females, which still bothers me to no end. :? With guys, I can sort of understand it because they actually produce semen, but most women don't shoot out any fluids when they come, so why use the verb cum? "I'm cumming" automatically reminds me of semen or squirt fluid, depending on who's talking, and the majority of women just don't squirt.

I hate writing "I do XY until I cum" in my video descriptions, I'd much rather write "come", but I'd probably get tons of people telling me that I'm wrong. lol.

Derp! I want to clarify something! I misread stuff! I like the differentiation of spelling, but I'm not likely ever to use it in place of come. I read this "do you spell it cum or come?" My bad. I'm pretty neutral to it. Normally if I see it on twitter or something, I generally think really? you wanted to be clever, and that's as good as you could do? Meh, oh well though. It's not something that causes me to grit my teeth or anything.

I like the word spelled "cum" when referring to orgasm. Male or female. I understand that it originally was spelled "come" but I appreciate having separate words for orgasming and accompanying a person somewhere.

It can be ok/cutesy/jokey to sometimes use it in a flirty comment like "Cum play with me!" but only if the person is actually intending to do sexy stuff with the invitees. It is in appropriate to use it in any other sense. "Cum to the mall with me I need new clothes" is not OK.

Those tend to be the only times I see "cum" used - when orgasms are going to happen. If it were used to refer to a non-sexual situation, I'd probably want to slap the person for their crimes against grammar.

I immediately thought of its use in the "ZOMG HOW TO GET YELLOW WALLZ" thread and I ABHOR that! I think it is fucking terrible, but it IS different from doing something like tweeting "Cum play with me!" which is not as bad to me.

I am not personally into using it unless I am actually talking about cumming/orgasming but I am just kind of into precision of language I suppose. I don't think I could bear to type it, and I must admit that when I see it I cringe a little. I am into puns but I think I like to keep that word in an actual sexual place, like maybe it will carry more weight if it is used less and only in a situation where I will be cumming? I sort of want to keep it special because a lot of times my orgasms are presented as an extra special thing (most of ours our, I believe!) and I want to do what ever I can to keep that value high.

I think that if I felt it went with my brand to use it more and/or in lieu of "come" (in a non orgasm usage) I would TOTALLY do it though. For those who feel it helps with your business or adds to your token count, I say fucking go for it.

It seems to me that we have perfectly good word in the English language to describe a sexual climax; orgasm.

Come has a ton of other uses in the English language. Most dictionaries list "come: to experience orgasm" near the bottom of a very long list of definition of the word come.
Anyway, I am not entirely convinced that "come" since it is slang is correct in any formal sense. The Oxford English Dictionary lists cum as variant spelling of come for "to experience orgasm.

It seems to me that "cum" is actually a much better spelling because it is unambiguous. While it is true that woman don't put out "cum" when they have orgasm, there is enough generally wetness, that it seems to me that it is close enough for sex work.

Say you are writing a murder scene at an orgy.
Bill screams cum now
Jane screams come, now.

The first sentence is unambiguous for the love making, the second sentence is correct for describing what happens when Jane discovers the body.
